Abstract:The past two decades of modern medical practice has witnessed increasing use of the term evidence-based medicine (EBM). This was inadvertently defined by David Sackett et al. in 1996 as 'A systematic approach to clinical problem solving by the integration of best research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values' [<span class="CitationRef"><a href="#CR1">1</a></span>]. Yet another definition emerged from Dr. Gordon Guyatt's statement: 'The conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of the individual patient' [<span class="CitationRef"><a href="#CR2">2</a></span>]. Both these definitions have the same implications. It means consolidated individual clinical experience with the best available external clinical evidence from systematic research in a given situation. Therefore, the three important components of EBM are best research evidence, clinical expertise and patients' values and preferences. This fundamental principle of evidence-based practice is imperative for today's surgeon. Application of 'best evidence' if used judiciously results in improved standards of surgical care. Surgical training and teaching should also be evidence based, for example, high-fidelity simulation laboratories, for laparoscopic, robotic and micro-surgical training has become important. The question arises what is research? A good answer is 'focussed systematic enquiry generating new knowledge to improve health, treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction'.

Abstract:Objective:In the ourse of surgical Tutoring,the mode of evidence-based nursing care is adopted.It not only rectifies the habits and behaviors according to intuition and experence in the course of surgical tutoring,but also can makes students understand and mastery of book knowledge through referring and searching.At the same time,it can improves sense and abilities of thinking,creating and operating;otherwise it can make students link theory with practice and apply the knowledge of basic and nursing in clinical practice.The acquired knowledge is understudied and master well by students.Skill and operation of students became more experienced and consummate.It will lay the favorable foundation for being a excellent nurse and elevating clinical teaching level of nursing care.

Abstract:An introduction to the practice of introducing the“ surgeon qualification admittance system”in the hospital and a description of its management framework,basic principles,rules of classification for surgical operations,application and approval procedure,and supportive management regulations.The authors hold that this system has normalized behavior of medical activities,clarified operation authorities of medical doctors at various levels,and intensified the awareness of risk exposure.Therefore this system can safeguard the quality and safety of surgical operations and its efficiency to a great extent,in addition to better building the team and backup forces.

Abstract:The medical students, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of medical from 5- year,7-year, 8-year to general of academic, received evidence-based medicine (EBM) education. Abstract:Basic surgical skill education plays a vital role in training surgical technique of medical students,and also serves as a bridge between surgical textbook and clinical practice.The article adopted a new educational system,which consisted of basic experiments as main body,comprehensive,advanced and innovative experiments as complements,to enhancing practice-based instruction.The authors also added teaching process record for teachers and learning process record for students,and carried out a control study,which used a method of instruction,demonstration,guidance,assessment and Objective Structured Clinical Examination(OSCE),among students of all the majors in Grade 2006.A satisfied result was attained at last.So it concluded that the method we used could make a great improvement to medical education,not only for surgical training,but also benefit other clinical techniques learning.

Abstract:Objective To compare the effectiveness of problem-based learning combined with evidence-based medicine(PBL-EBM) and problem-based learning (PBL) model on clinical teaching of urology.Methods Students were selected by sampling in PBL group (n =56) and PBL-EBM group (n =51),and the two groups received clinical teaching of urology by PBL and PBL-EBM model respectively.At the end of the study,each student received objective and subjective evaluation.Results There was no significant difference in results of the baseline on evidence-based medicine between two groups (P＞0.05),but the percentage of high-recommended-level research evidence obtained by the students in the PBL-EBM group was significantly higher than that in PBL group (P＜0.05).And questionnaire showed more students in PBL-EBM group believed that this teaching model improved their ability of comprehensive analysis and application of medical evidence,and developed their skills in solving problem and obtaining information on various subjects (P＜0.05).Conclusions The model of problem-based learning combined with evidencebased medicine is feasible and effective in clinical teaching of urology and optimize the outcomes from PBL education.By the PBL-EBM model teaching,students improve the ability to advantage in managing evidence from medical studies,analyzing and solving problem,obtaining and applying medical information.

Abstract:Making a general survey of the students in clinical practices in recent years,the prevailing situation is that the students are lack of clinical medical knowledge,not enough for basic training and less able to operate by themselves.We focused on the common existing problem in surgical practices by correctly using our self-compiled practice handbook,adjusting and improving the examination contents.We strengthened and improved our teaching methods and countermeasures through a series of quantitative assessment of statistical analysis.

Abstract:Veterinary surgical education is improved by studying the relevant literature. The aim of this literature review was to report the theory and methods used to provide surgical education to veterinary students; to discuss the training most likely to create a competent general practitioner; and to review assessment methods for simulated and live surgeries. The literature reviewed demonstrates that new graduates are expected to perform small animal sterilization, dental extraction, onychectomy, abscess treatment, aural hematoma repair, and mass removal with little or no supervision. Students require repetitive practice to reach competence; some practice can take place in a clinical skills laboratory on models or cadavers. When training novices, distributing practice over a longer time improves retention, but months without practice causes skills to decay. Suturing skills may be taught on models at a ratio of 1 instructor per 10 students. Veterinary students require 6-10 repetitions of each small animal sterilization surgery to reach competence; however, learning curves for other surgeries have not been established. Assessment of surgical skills has been undertaken using objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) and observed model and live surgeries. Additional validated rubrics are needed in the field. Surgical educators are urged to continue to search for innovative ways to foster deliberate practice, assess skill, and provide feedback for students.

Abstract:With the further application of evidencebased medicine and the change of disease spectrum,gastrointestinal surgery is facing the novel challenge and opportunity.Systemic quality control of surgery will have positive effects on the subject development.Absence of high level of evidence,the popularization of mini-invasive surgery should be carried out cautiously.Standardization of definition of complications and unified management will be helpful to the clinical researches,prevention and treatment of complications.Conception and implementation of multidisciplinary team and enhanced recovery after surgery will provide every patient individualized and standard treatment.

Abstract:Evidence-based clinical practice is defined by clinical practice guided by evidence. Strengthening the teaching of evidence-based clinical practice can help medical students to well learn the reasoning logic and to penetrate evidence-based medicine into clinical performance, which may lay a solid foundation for future clinical work. This study focuses on the course of evidence-based clinical practice offered by Peking University Health Science Center for undergraduates from five-year and eight-year programs of clinical medicine duing clerkship rotation. The course design and implementation process are described and the teaching effect is evaluated. The results show that 94.3%(1 522/1 614)of students gain excellent scores. The students are impressed upon the course contents, The teaching of evidence-based clinical practice course effectively integrate evidence-based medicine with clinical practice, and support the application of knowledge of evidence-based medicine in clinical practice. It has also laid a foundation for clinical capacity building.

Abstract:In recent years, evidence-based medicine has developed rapidly, and its ideas and methods have been increasingly used in medical education. We have promoted the model, theory and practical methods of evidence-based medicine in the teaching of endocrinology standardized residency training, which has improved students' learning enthusiasm and initiative, and also enhanced students' mastery of professional knowledge and cultivation and innovation of clinical thinking. In view of the existing problems, this essay puts forward some solutions to help residents to meet the requirements of rapid developments in endocrinology and generally promote the standardization of residents' medical practice behavior.
