Abstract:In this paper, the Lewis-Riesenfeld invariant theory is generalized for the study of systems with non-Hermitian time-dependent Hamiltonians. It is then used to study the nonadiabatic cyclic evolution and the Aharonov-Anandan phase. It is shown that the study of noncyclic evolution can be reduced to the study of cyclic evolution. The two-level dissipative system and the classical time-dependent harmonic oscillator are discussed as illustrative examples.

Abstract:An alternative concept of the basic invariants is introduced. The Lewis-Riesenfeld invariant theory is extended to obtain a generalized invariant formulation. The formulation is then used to establish four facts: (i) Any invariant for a quantum system can be constructed in terms of the basic invariants. (ii) It is possible to introduce a solution-generating technique by making use of the basic invariants. (iii) The path integral in the generalized invariant formulation reduces to an ordinary integral. (iv) The study of noncyclic evolution of a quantum system reduces explicitly to the study of the cyclic evolution. Finally, phase factors and general solution for the driven generalized time-dependent harmonic oscillator are studied as an illustrative example.

Abstract:The formally exact solution for the spin-j system is obtained by means of the Lewis-Riesenfeld theory. Abstract:In this paper, the exact solution and time-evolution operator for the system with a su(1,1)(+(s)h(4) Hamiltonian are found by making use of Lewis-Riesenfeld quantum theory. The time-evolution operator is then used to derive the Aharonov-Anandan phase. Finally, the noncylclic evolution is discussed with the help of the Aharonov-Anandan phase and the Berry phase is calculated by taking the adiabatic limit.

Abstract:By using the Lewis–Riesenfeld invariant theory, we have studied the dynamical and the geometric phases in a generalized time-dependent Jaynes-Cummings model. It is found that the geometric phases in a cycle case have nothing to do with the frequency of the electromagnetic wave, the energy difference between two levels of the atom, and the coupling strength between the atom and the light field.

Abstract:The notion of geometric phase has been recently introduced to analyze the quantum phase transitions of many-body systems from the geometrical perspective. In this work, we study the geometric phase of the ground state for an inhomogeneous period-two anisotropic XY model in a transverse field. This model encompasses a group of familiar spin models as its special cases and shows a richer critical behavior. The exact solution is obtained by mapping on a fermionic system through the Jordan-Wigner transformation and constructing the relevant canonical transformation to realize the diagonalization of the Hamiltonian coupled in the $k$-space. The results show that there may exist more than one quantum phase transition point at some parameter regions and these transition points correspond to the divergence or extremum properties of the Berry curvature.

Abstract:The authors investigate the geometric phase of a spin-J system interacting with a classical magnetic field which contains a fluctuating component. Assuming an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process for the fluctuations, we find that the distribution due to the fluctuating component for the geometric phase is a Gaussian. We calculate in detail the variance of geometric and dynamic phases. The results clearly show that the geometric phase can reduce the fluctuations, but the dynamic phase can not.

Abstract:Objective The algebriaic dynamics is applied to investigate the geometric phase of a Heisenberg-chain,in order to find out how the coulping strengths between spins influence the geometric phase of this system.Method An interacting anisotropic 3-spin 1/2 system,which is driven by a rotating magnetic field,is considered.The system has a su(2) algebraic structure.By an unitary gauge transformation,this nonautonomous system becomes an autonomous system.The Schrodinger equation of the autonomous system is solved.By virtue of the inverse transformation of the original gauge transformation,the exact analytical solution to the time dependent Schrodinger equation is obtained in total spin 1/2 subspace.Resutlt The geometric phases in this subspace are calculated.Conclusion The result shows that(i)Coulping strengths don't influence the geometric phases of this system;(ii) The geometric phases of the system is the same as that of one spin 1/2 system in a rotating magnetic field.

Abstract:In this paper the geometric phases of two entangled spin-1/2 particles in the presence and absence of spin-spin interaction are calculated. We also discuss the geometric phases when only one of the two particles is affected by the external magnetic field. Our results show that the geometric phase in this case is not equal to that of a single particle under the same evolution condition because of the effect of entanglement. We further study the entanglement dependence of the noncyclic geometric phases in the interacting and noninteracting spins under a time-independent uniform magnetic field. A general entanglement-dependence geometric phase is formulated.

Abstract:We study the dynamics of the gyrophase of a charged particle in a magnetic field which is uniform in space but changes slowly with time. As the magnetic field evolves slowly with time, the changing of the gyrophase is composed of two parts. The first part is the dynamical phase, which is the time integral of the instantaneous gyrofrequency. The second part, called geometric gyrophase, is more interesting, and it is an example of the geometric phase which has found many important applications in different branches of physics. If the magnetic field returns to the initial value after a loop in the parameter space, then the geometric gyrophase equals the solid angle spanned by the loop in the parameter space. This classical geometric gyrophase is compared with the geometric phase (the Berry phase) of the spin wave function of an electron placed in the same adiabatically changing magnetic field. Even though gyromotion is not the classical counterpart of the quantum spin, the similarities between the geometric phases of the two cases nevertheless reveal the similar geometric nature of the different physics laws governing these two physics phenomena.

Abstract:Using algebraic dynamics, the geometric phase of a 3-particle spin chain has been calculated. The dependence of the geometric phase of this system on the symmetry of Hamiltonian is investigated. It is found that when the symmetry of Hamiltonian is broken, a drastic change in the structure of the geometric phase takes place.

Abstract:By considering dynamical symmetry between canonically equivalent systems, we investigate the connection between the geometric phase and dynamical invariants, where the Liouville–von-Neumann equation is directly deduced. Furthermore, we show that an arbitrary shift of the Hamiltonian , where fi(t) is a real function and Xi is a generator of dynamical symmetry, leaves the geometric phase invariant.
