A Study on Interaction of Foreign Language Collaborative Writing Approach

Abstract:With the focus of language teaching and learning research being shifted to student-centeredness,the "process-based approach" inevitably appears.Based on the constructivism theory,and on both quantitative and qualitative study through the collaborative writing interactions,this study addresses factors that affect the success of collaborative writing groups,namely,collaborative writing strategies,dialogic engagement,cognitive conflict and social factors.It is concluded that collaborative writing helps to prompt new ideas,trigger discussion,settle disputes and engage the authors in negotiation of meaning.The authors learn from each other at the level of word choice,writing structure and idea expression;Collaborative writing approach enables each student to reap a sense of achievement,arousing their interest in writing.What's more,it offers a bridge combining spoken communication with written expression and in the long run,it helps to enhance students' comprehensive language competence.
