Abstract:Thermal and chemical deactivation processes can occur simultaneously during the operation of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems using De-NO x catalysts. The prolonged exposure of De-NO x catalysts to high temperature conditions was simulated using different calcination temperatures. Samples of different SCR catalysts combined with alkali/thermal deactivation were prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), in-situ DRIFT, N2 adsorption-desorption, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), N2 adsorption-desorption. The NO conversion properties of the catalysts were also measured. The results showed that the NO conversion of the combined alkali/thermally deactivated catalyst was lower than that of the thermally deactivated catalyst when the calcination temperatures were 600 and 700℃, respectively. The use of high temperatures can lead to a decrease in the specific surface area of the catalyst and the weakening of its Bronsted acidic sites. The deactivation caused by the high temperature conditions was intensified by the accumulation of alkali metals, which led to the weakening of the Bronsted acidic sites on the surface of the catalyst. These results also indicated that the accumulation of alkali metals could enhance the thermal stability of the catalysts and hinder their transformation from anatase to rutile.
