Abstract:This article is the 4th part excerpted from the book by Wen Jianqing,entitled "The Iconographical Study of Some Buddhist Art Subjects Imported into the East".Music performers and dancers in the heavenly palace originally referred to all those Bodhisattvas engaged in music and dance.From his personal investigation into the related images of the music performers and dancers in heaven,the author came to realize that the Chinese forms of artistic expression of such images ran in the same groove as those of Confucianism,Taoism and Buddhism in Chinese traditional culture,there existing complicated internal relationship between the complementary historical background and context.
