CT diagnosis features of renal metastases

Abstract:AIM: To investigate CT features in diagnosing renal metastases.METHODS: The CT findings of 12 cases of renal metastases and 12 cases of renal cancers were analyzed retrospectively.RESULTS: There were 42 lesions among of 12 cases of renal metastases.Four cases were solitaries,while eight cases were multifocal and bilateral.Nine cases located in the renal medulla and demonstrated wedge-shaped,while thirty-three lesions infiltrated renal cortex and medulla meanwhile and demonstrated rounded.Forty-one lesions demonstrated hypo-density on un-enhanced images.Forty-two lesions all demonstrated less enhancement.Eight lesions were exophytic.Seven cases of renal metastases were accompanied with metastases of other organs and tissues.All 12 cases of renal cancers were rounded,irregular solitaries lesions,and infiltrated renal cortex and medulla.Ten cases were hypo-and iso-density on un-enhanced images;and 11 cases demonstrated middle or intensive enhancement.Three cases demonstrated pseudo-capsules.Ten cases were exophytic.Two cases were accompanied with carcinomatous embolus of renal veins,and one with perirenal lymph node metastasis.CONCLUSION: Renal metastases usually demonstrated typical radiological findings.Familaring with these findings is helpful to diagnosis of renal metastasis.
