Abstract:In this paper we study Toeplitz operator and Toeplitz algebra on discrete abelian group. By the spectral projection and Fourier transformation, we transform the problem of Toeplitz operator and Toeplitz algebra on discrete ablien group into the problem of them on the Hardy space of the dual group. We conclude the character of Toeplitz operator(Theorem 10), the necessary and sufficient condition of that the reduced Toeplitz algebra equals Toeplitz algebra (Proposition 5)and the short exact sequence of Toeplitz algebra(Theorem 6).

Abstract:Let G be a finite abelian group with |G| > 1. Let a (1), aEuro broken vertical bar, a (k) be k distinct elements of G and let b (1), aEuro broken vertical bar, b (k) be (not necessarily distinct) elements of G, where k is a positive integer smaller than the least prime divisor of |G|. We show that there is a permutation pi on {1, aEuro broken vertical bar,k} such that a (1) b (pi(1)), aEuro broken vertical bar, a (k) b (pi(k)) are distinct, provided that any other prime divisor of |G| (if there is any) is greater than k!. This in particular confirms the Dasgupta-Karolyi-Serra-Szegedy conjecture for abelian p-groups. We also pose a new conjecture involving determinants and characters, and show that its validity implies Snevily's conjecture for abelian groups of odd order. Our methods involve exterior algebras and characters.

Abstract:Let G be a discrete abelian group and (G, G(+)) an ordered group. Denote by (G,G(F)) the minimal quasily ordered group containing (G,G(+)). In this paper, we show that the ideal of finite elements is exactly the kernel of the natural morphism between these two Toeplitz C*-algebras. When G is countable, we show that if the direct sum of K groups K-0(T-G+)+K-1(T-G+) congruent to Z, then K-0(T-G+) congruent to Z.

Abstract:In this paper, we conducted a study of H-Toeplitz operators on the Dirichlet type space $ \mathfrak{D}_{t} $, which included several aspects. To begin, we established the matrix representation of the H-Toeplitz operator $ S_{\varphi} $ with respect to the orthonormal basis of $ \mathfrak{D}_t $. Subsequently, we characterized the compactness of $ S_{\varphi} $ in terms of the symbol $ \varphi $. Furthermore, we developed a new method to investigate the algebraic properties of H-Toeplitz operators, including self-adjointness, diagonality, co-isometry, partial isometry as well as commutativity.

Abstract:For an essentially normal operator T , it is shown that there exists a unilateral shift of multiplicity m in C * (T) if and only if γ( T )≠0 and γ (T)/m . As application, we prove that the essential commutant of a unilateral shift and that of a bilateral shift are not isomorphic as C * -algebras. Finally, we construct a natural C * -algebra ε + ε * on the Bergman space L a 2 ( B n ), and show that its essential commutant is generated by Toeplitz operators with symmetric continuous symbols and all compact operators.

Abstract:We reconsider studies of Toeplitz operators on function spaces (the weighted Bergman space, the generalized derivative Hardy space) and the H-Toeplitz operators on the Bergman space. Past studies have considered the presence or absence of hyponormality or questions of contractivity or expansivity; we provide structure theorems for these operators that allow us to recapture, and often considerably improve, these results. In some cases these operators or their adjoints are actually in more restrictive classes, such as subnormal or moment infinitely divisible ($\mathcal{MID}$).

Abstract:This paper mainly studies totally Abelian operators in the context of analytic Toeplitz operators on both the Hardy and Bergman space. When the symbol is a meromorphic function on C, we establish the connection between the totally Abelian property of these operators and geometric properties of their symbol curves. It is found that winding numbers and multiplicities of self-intersection of symbol curves play an important role in this topic. Techniques of group theory, complex analysis, geometry and operator theory are intrinsic in this paper. As a byproduct, under a mild condition we provide an affirmative answer to a question raised in [2], and also construct some examples to show that the answer is negative if the associated conditions are weakened. Abstract:We make a progress towards describing the semi-commutants of Toeplitz operators on Fock-Sobolev spaces of nonnegative orders. We generalize the results in \cite{Bauer1,Qin}. For the certain symbol spaces, we obtain two Toeplitz operators can semi-commute only in the trivial cases, which is different from what is known for the classical Fock spaces. As an application, we consider the conjecture which was shown to be false for Fock space in \cite{MA}. The main results of this paper say that there is the fundamental difference between the geometries of Fock and Fock-Sobolev space.

Abstract:This paper mainly considers Toeplitz algebras, subnormal tuples and rigidity concerning reproducing C1⁄2z1;y; zd -modules. By making use of Arveson’s boundary representation theory, we find there is more rigidity in several variables than there is in single variable. We specialize our attention to reproducing C1⁄2z1;y; zd -modules with U-invariant kernels by examining the spectrum and the essential spectrum of the d-tuple fMz1 ;y;Mzdg; and deducing an exact sequence of C -algebras associated with Toeplitz algebra. Abstract:In this paper, we study defect operators and Fredholmness for Toeplitz pairs with inner symbols on both the Hardy spaces H-2(D) and H-2(D-2). The defect operator theory is closely related to function theory on the unit disk and the bidisk. Fredholmness of Toeplitz pairs on H-2(D-2) with rational inner symbols is completely characterized. We also establish an index formula for a general isometric pair.

Abstract:We introduce and give a more or less complete study of a family of branching-Toeplitz operators on the Hilbert space $\ell^2(T_q)$ indexed by a rooted homogeneous tree $T_q$ of degree $q\ge 2$. The finite dimensional analogues of such operators form a very natural family of structured sparse matrices called branching-Toeplitz matrices and will also be investigated. The branching-Toeplitz operators/matrices in this paper should be viewed as natural generalizations of the standard Toeplitz operators/matrices. We will apply our results to construct a family of determinantal point processes on homogeneous trees which are branching-type strong stationary stochastic processes.

Abstract: Motivated by Barr{\'\i}a-Halmos's \cite[Question 19]{barria1982asymptotic} and Halmos's \cite[Problem 237]{Halmos1978A}, we explore projections in Toeplitz algebra on the Hardy space. We show that the product of two Toeplitz (Hankel) operators is a projection if and only if it is the projection onto one of the invariant subspaces of the shift (backward shift) operator. As a consequence one obtains new proofs of criterion for Toeplitz operators and Hankel operators to be partial isometries. Furthermore, we completely characterize when the self-commutator of a Toeplitz operator is a projection. This provides a class of nontrivial projections in Toeplitz algebra.
