Abstract:Objective To study clinical characteristics and therapeutic m ethods of cerebral venous malformation (CVM). Methods The clinical manifes tation, imaging characteristics and therapeutic experience of 18 CVM cases were retrospectively analyzed. Results The 18 CVM included 10 men and 8 women, with an average age of 34.5 years. The initial symptoms consisted of epilepsy se izures in 8 cases, cerebral ventricle hemorrhage in 4 and headache in 6. Angiogr aphy showed a typical medusa's head-like image, with numerous dilated medullar veins draining to cortical or deep veins. The conservative therapy was adopted in all 18 patients, and all patients had capabilities to live a normal life and work without seizure attacks and second hemorrhage. Conclusion CVM is a ki nd of benign cerebral vascular malformation, and it might be better to treat it with noninvasive therapies.
