Abstract:Manufacturing industry needs a more effective and unified information system to meet market demand changes and societal/environmental requirements. The international standard ISO/IEC 62264 (an adoption of ISA SP95) presents an integrated framework for business planning & logistics, manufacturing operation management, and control. The information system integration models proposed in this standard are based on UML (Unified Modeling Language). OPM (Object Process Methodology) is a new modeling approach with much more advantages comparing to UML. This paper re-builds the information system integration models in ISO/IEC 62264 based on OPM. The application in an oil refinery factory verifies the effectiveness of these models and the convenience of OPM.

Abstract:The fast development of domestic auto part trade has put some new requirements on the sales and marketing management. Manyearly-developed management systems basedon the traditional technology are not sufficientto satisfy these new requirements. UML, as an expressive and powerful standard object-oriented modeling language, has been widely used in management information system. After analyzing the modeling functionalities of UML, an auto-parts-trade sales management system is proposed and implemented using UML as the modeling tool. This system has been deployed in some auto-part sales enterprises. The practice shows that it has greatly im- proved the sales management quality of the users.

Abstract:This paper presents modeling methods and processes for logistics information system of automobile production. The work focuses on model construction of enterprise logistics information system for automobile production based on Unified Modeling Language. According to the conceptions of modern enterprises' logistics, the advanced production logistics techniques have been integrated into automobile-producing logistics system, which can promote production and save costs. The resulting method and process will now be used in other production enterprises.

Abstract:With the development of manufacturing automation and intelligent increasing speed, the construction in plant management information has been important tasks to promote business innovation ability, improve competitiveness and manufacturing execution. In this paper, UML (Unified Modeling Language) and object-oriented modeling technology were applied to model the static structure and dynamic behavior of the plant management information from requirement analysis to system implementation, including functional requirement model, static structural model, asset management time sequence chart, system physical model and so on. The visualized system analysis method and technology better planned the system design and improved the efficiency of the system development. It will play a guiding role in the object-oriented software development.

Abstract:Intelligent manufacturing refers to the use of advanced information technology and modern manufacturing technology to carry out comprehensive intelligent and automated transformation of the whole process and all links of manufacturing and production, as well as to achieve efficient manufacturing production and service-oriented operation and enhance the competitiveness of the entire industry. In the field of intelligent manufacturing, this paper researches on the application of intelligent manufacturing modelling based on cyber-physical system, which takes the auto industry as the background, selects the engine cylinder head deburring production case in the intelligent equipment system from its manufacturing architecture. After analysis of the cyber-physical system, then use UML (unified modeling language) class diagram mode to model the deburring process, and complete the equipment case construction corresponding to the mode, analyze the results and draw relevant conclusions and application to build the actual system in the architecture in component parts selection and factory pipeline design.

Abstract:In recent years, computer simulation appears to be very advantageous technique for researching the resource-constrained manufacturing system. This paper presents an object-oriented simulation modeling method, which combines the merits of traditional methods such as IDEF0 and Petri Net. In this paper, a four-layer-one-angel hierarchical modeling framework based on OOP is defined. And the modeling description of these layers is expounded, such as: hybrid production control modeling and human resource dispatch modeling. To validate the modeling method, a case study of an auto-product line in a motor manufacturing company has been carried out.

Abstract:In view of the current virtual manufacturing system models lack the expression of the static structure affected by dynamic manufacturing process, which leads to the virtual model cannot express the change of the physical manufacturing system accurately, then affects real-time analysis of manufacturing system adversely. A fusion model combines the static structure and dynamic manufacturing process is established based on hybrid automata, which describe the manufacturing system static structure by hybrid automata state and the dynamic process by hybrid automata state transition event, then describe how the dynamic process acts on the static structure of the system by different event-driven state transition. In the end, by the implementation of the former work to modeling a manufacturing system from task assignment to exception handling.

Abstract:Configurable MES is a hot attention in today’s industry. In this work, we present a MES model based on a production process modeling method. With the workflow management technology, a configurable MES framework is introduced and some important implementation methods such as production process modeler, activity script language and production process scheduler are presented. A successful application of an automobile engine assembly line shows that this model is useful and effective.

Abstract:Information integration and interoperability among different design and manufacturing application software systems are important in smart manufacturing implementation and product life cycle management. Information models are foundational and critical to the specification of common terms, interfaces, and software architectures for information interoperability. The manufacturing process is one of the key processes in a product life cycle. This paper presents a methodology of using the metamodels as the modeling basis in manufacturing process information modeling. A manufacturing process information metamodel (MPIMM), which consists of object classes, relationship classes, and relationships, defines the information and relationships of processes, operations, resources used, and product/part manufactured of manufacturing process planning. The MPIMM is built by unified modeling language (UML) while the semantics of the process elements and their attributes are specified referencing the process specification language. A four-layer framework is proposed to construct manufacturing process information model (MPIM) following the rules of metamodeling, and including meta-metamodeling, manufacturing process information metamodeling, and manufacturing process domain information modeling; thus, manufacturing process plan data can be represented. The UML profile extension mechanism realized by defining Stereotype, TaggedValue, and Constraint is used in extending MPIMM to MPIM. A case study of applying MPIM in the product life cycle data management system for port hoisting equipment manufacturing is provided to demonstrate and verify the modeling capability and efficiency of the proposed methodology. This work provides a systematic and standardized modeling methodology and information expression mechanism for manufacturing process information.

Abstract:The environment of the process industries is harsh,the production process is complex.In accordance with the shortcomings of the traditional MES such as low adaptability,high cost of research and maintenance,and the unsatisfactory result of application and so on,this paper proposes a new software infrastructure to develop the next generation flexible MES for process industries with a software development approach-MDA.The overall goal has been to enable MES to meet the pervasive requirements of process industries and adapt to the specific enterprise environments.Based on the hierarchical design method, system is divided into CIM,PIM and PSM.The CIM contains three domain models which are grounded on the infrastructure:the functional model analyses requirements and represents the functional sets,the logic model is used to define factory object model, user interfaces and workflows by a self-described modeling approach,and the scientific computing model transforms the factory object model to mathematical model,archive closed-loop management with data reconciliation and production optimization. Prototype verification and engineering practice show that the system can be achieved consistent with the traditional MES domain model,and significantly shorten product delivery time and reduce project costs.The paper separates the domain modeling process from the software development process,improves the software abstraction level and reusability.Compared with the prior MDA,the system has more run-time dynamic characteristics,the domain model can be easily modified after compiling,the outputs of UML and other design tools are no longer only documents,but to become an executable products.

Abstract:Models can solve many problems in systems engineering, so a new automatic structural modeling technology based on process manufacturing system identifications is presented. Through carrying out identifications to system compo-sitions and unit relationships, model structure data is refined, and a system simulation model is automatically generated. The graph theory is adapted and regarded as a math expression format of the industrial system in the modeling. In addi-tion, the rule codes are implemented for system units in the research, the identification functions are defined according to system composition properties. The auto-modeling processes are achieved through iterative computation. Finally, the example is given to verify that the presented method is feasible, and can satisfy these requirements of the availability, efficiency and accuracy.

Abstract:In order to develop a digital drawing management information system,unified modeling language(UML) technology is applied to the analysis and design of the system.A UML system analysis and design method based on Concurrent Engineering(CE) is proposed at first,then the application of UML to system analysis is shown in UML use case diagram,class diagram,collaboration diagram and state diagram,and the application of UML to system development is shown in code creation and database creation.The successful implementation of the system demonstrates that the proposed method can analyze and design the system in a satisfactory way.

Abstract:After discussing the advantages and disadvantages of the IDEF and UML modeling methods, a method of modeling the information system with both IDEF and UML is proposed. The IDEF0 model is used to specify the information requirements, the IDEF1x models are utilized to support modeling a relational database and the UML models are used to design an object-oriented software. With the method,a components based production planning and scheduling system in a machine tool company is designed,which is configurable, extensible and reusable and is used to control two different types of workshops. The benefits gained from the modeling method are illustrated by the example.

Abstract:Since the manufacturing process information and their mutual relationship are complex and diverse, the clear and accurate description and modeling of manufacturing process information is a challenge in related study of manufacturing process. Considering the diversity of the process data, a four-layer framework for manufacturing process information modeling based on metamodel is proposed. A 4-tuple manufacturing process information metamodel is specified and the concepts and relationships of the manufacturing process information are represented by UML. Following the four-layer hierarchical modeling procedures in the framework, manufacturing process information can be modeled from metamodel to model in consistence with their data relationships and representations. An instance of information model regarding to machining process is developed for verification. This work provides a systematic and standardized modeling method and information expression mechanism for manufacturing process information modeling.

Abstract:Information is a very important resource in manufacturing systems. The vagueness or lack of information leads to uncertainty and information flow conflicts in designing complex engineering products. The formal realization of concurrent design process for manufacturing enterprise information systems is the sticking point of design process management. This paper proposes a novel method of modeling and analyzing for concurrent design process based on the unified modeling language (UML) and the polychromatic sets (PS) theory. Together with the feature-based part design and process planning, UML model of concurrent design process is established using the basic model primitives and constructs of UML activity diagram. According to the mapping principles, UML mode of feature-based part design and process planning is mapped formally into PS contour matrix model. Based on PS contour matrix, the model reduction, path search and time consumption of concurrent design process are analyzed quantitatively and the opportunities are discovered to improve concurrent design process.

Abstract:This paper studies the application of object-oriented simulation to analyze and improve equipment manufacturing product line.Unified Modeling Language(UML) and eM-Plant7.0 simulation software are selected to develop a prototype desk-top simulation system-NEU-Simulation,which is developed for a machine tool plant in Shenyang,China.UML simulation model of equipment manufacturing product line is provided,which includes dynamic and static models to depict the entire manufacturing system including process,regulation,organization,relationship between objects.Machine utilization ratio and product output are considered as performance measures.And the number of machines,buffer size,process time,the number of wokers are used as input factors.The goal of statistics and data analysis is to find the bottle-neck factors to be as reference to decision the design or reconfiguration of equipment manufacturing product line.

Abstract:The material control plays an important role in current discrete manufacturing industry. Commonly, modeling the material flow is a very complex work in the assembly line. In this paper, an event-based material control modeling is proposed to model the material flow in detail. The static elements of production line and the dynamic events are modeled. The implementation technology is also discussed. Finally, this model is successful used in a real automobile engine assembly line.
