Abstract:Mathematical modeling is an activity of creative thinking and a carrier of applied talents training. The cultivation of mathematical modeling ability plays a key role in the training of applied talent. In this paper, we focus on the follow-up study stage of contest problems to improve students' innovation ability effectively. Based on the analysis of the pre-contest training phase and mathematical modeling contest phase, this paper analyzes the necessity and urgency of the follow-up study of contest problems, and then proposes some specific ways to improve students' innovation ability based on the follow-up study of contest problems. Specifically, the follow-up study can be combined with classroom teaching, graduation project, scientific research paper, scientific research project, and extracurricular activity and so on.
