Perspective of Urban Heritage Protection on Dazhalan Block,Beijing City

Abstract:Located in the downtown of Beijing,Dazhalan Block is one of those important blocks reflecting the traditional style of streets and lanes in Beijing.The twilldirection lane texture is one of characteristics in the Block.Depending on the analysis of streets and lanes as well as traditional architecture in the area,this paper points out that:(1)the high traditional style rate in present Dazhalan Block is at the cost of demolishment of many traditional houses and construction lots of new imitating-tradition buildings;(2)the core protected area of historic landscape in Dazhalan Block should be"Dazhalan Historic Protected Areat"and "East Liulichang Historic Protected Area";(3)there are two key indexes,twill-direction lane texture and 30% perception of remained historic buildings,for measuring the protection of historic landscape in Dazhalan Block.
