Abstract:The economic transition in China since the late 1970s has led to not only drastic social transformations but also rapid advancements in science and technology, as well as the revolution in information and communications technology. In order to enhance the global competence of the Chinese population in coping with the challenges of a knowledge-based economy, the higher education sector has been going through restructuring along the lines of marketization, privatization and decentralization. Responding to the the challenges of globalization, the Chinese government has opened up the education market by allowing overseas universities to offer programmes on the mainland. This article sets out in this wider policy context to examine the current developments of transnational higher education in China, with particular reference to how students in Zhejiang province enrolling in these overseas programmes, especially those offered by Australian providers, evaluate their learning experiences. This article will also discuss the major concerns raised by the respondents in our study regarding the newly emerging transnational higher education programmes, with particular reference to examining how far these new programmes would affect the regulatory framework in Chinese higher education.

Abstract:There were many higher institutes which were contributed by foreign individuals,groups or government for Chinese in modern times,besides the Missionary Universities.These schools included owned universities invested by foreigners who lived in China,Chinese and foreign joint universities and branch campuses of foreign universities.The others were set up abroad,including Chinese and foreign joint universities and foreign universities set up special for educating Chinese etc.Although each foreign investment on higher education for Chinese has its own purpose,the higher institutes they contributing to cultivated many urgently needed talents for China objectively,and they made some contributions to both developing Chinese higher education,and strengthening cultural and educational exchanges between China and foreign countries.

Abstract:As a part of the national formal system, education has the national attribute. The essence of education has the function of transmitting human civilization, and makes it have the common value of human beings that transcends the significance of national culture. The dual nature of education is the basis for cooperation and exchange across countries/regions, nationalities and cultures. After being an important force to participate in the reconstruction of China’s modern society and culture in the first half of the 20th century, the international students at present have become an important resource to promote the international dissemination of contemporary Chinese culture. Various types, levels, and scopes of international cooperation widely exist in the field of education in China. While spreading the image of China’s education, it also undertakes the important function of international dissemination of Chinese culture. In view of the current image of China’s education in foreign public media and the effectiveness of the educational objectives of foreign students in China, there is still room for further enhancement of the effectiveness of education in the international dissemination of Chinese culture.

Abstract:This study aims to explore the educational foreign exchange and cooperation policy conceptual framework in China's education system from a historical policy retrospective analysis. Since reform and opening-up, China has issued a total of 151 pieces of educational foreign exchange and cooperation policy documents, including the cultural education policy, the technical educational policy, the overseas educational policy, and the foreign student policy. It is suggested that we need to carry out capacity building and improve the quality of education exchanges and cooperation with other countries; expand forms and paths and expand educational exchange and cooperation resources and optimize the project system and support education exchange and cooperation with foreign countries; enhance the strength of education and enhancing the influence of education on foreign exchange and cooperation. In conclusion, we need build a guaranteed system for educational exchange and cooperation with foreign countries. We will gradually lift the authority of foreign exchange and cooperation projects in education by category, promote the reform of qualification identification and management of institutions opening to the outside world in education, and improve the facilitation and speed of the management and service of opening to the outside world in education.

Abstract:The Erasmus Mundus Program launched in 2004 is intended to promote higher education cooperation and exchange between Europe and other regions in the world.Since the implementation of the program,the level of higher education internationalism of Europe has been enhanced,and the influence and competitiveness of European higher education has been intensified,exerting a far-reaching influence on the higher education internationalization all over the world.Based on the above,we analyze and research the generation,development,successes and shortcomings of the Erasmus Mundus Program.We hold that grasping and recognizing the tendency of the development of higher education across the world is conducive to China′s in-depth understanding of the development of European higher education internationalization,and mastery and recognition of the development tendency of world higher education,thus shedding significant new light on China′s higher education internationalization to boost the influence of education and culture.

Abstract:<span>Despite the rapid development of TNHE over the past decade, research studies on students' perceptions and experiences of teaching and learning at TNHE programmes in China are very limited. Using both surveys (328) and follow-up interviews (40) from students at two Anglo-Sino programmes, this study explores students' perceptions and experiences of teaching and learning in TNHE in China. Drawing on the five components of the intercultural dialogue framework, this paper reveals that Chinese students' experience of teaching was fragmented not least through a mixture of cultural approaches to pedagogy including a teacher-centred approach by the local Chinese teachers and a student-centred approach by the foreign teachers, with the latter generally preferred by the students. The findings yield several important implications for contextualized curriculum and careful consideration of the TNHE learning environment in China.</span>

Abstract:International exchange is an important part of China’s educational opening up, cooperation, and connection with other countries. It also serves as a unique strategic resource, helping to develop and consolidate mutual political trust, diplomatic exchange, economic and trade relations, cultural exchange and educational cooperation between China and other countries in the world, thereby enhancing China’s international image. We have seen positive contributions made to our progress towards peace among peoples, and noted the irreplaceable role played by China. International educational exchange is an important part of global international student flows. Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, especially in the 40 years of reform and opening up, China has experienced a development process in education from language students to students at all levels and from quantity to quality. The change in the type of international students studying in China and of Chinese students studying abroad reflects the Chinese spirit and the broadening the appeal of China’s programs. It can be interpreted as the fulfillment of the “Chinese Dream,” contributing to national revitalization. The trade imbalance between exporting countries and destination countries in international educational exchange has been reduced.

Abstract:Purpose: Studying abroad is an important way for universities to cultivate talent with international vision and global competitiveness. Based on its analysis of a U.S. university’s study in China program, this study provides policy recommendations to promote the overseas study and exchange of U.S. students in China. Design/Approach/Methods: This study examines the Beijing Overseas Learning Program of L University to examine the actual operations of a study abroad program in China. More specifically, this study examines the cooperative institution where the U.S. study program is located in China to analyze the operation mechanism and underlying logical framework of the program. Findings: This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the logical factors as well as internal and external reasons behind U.S. students’ decisions to study in China. This study demonstrates that the “peer factor” has a decisive influence on students’ decisions to study in China. Originality/Value: Study abroad programs constitute an integral part of China’s initiatives to enhance people-to-people exchanges with other countries. This study improves our understanding of the practical dynamics of study abroad programs in China, thereby enhancing abilities to attract U.S. students to study in China.

Abstract:With the status of English as a global lingua franca (ELF), English is no longer the sole property of its Anglophone native English speakers (NES) problematizing the current dominance of Anglophone cultures and NES in the field of English language teaching (ELT). The notion of intercultural citizenship education offers a critical alternative model in language education. To investigate how ELF, intercultural approaches and the concept of intercultural citizenship might be integrated within the field of ELT, a study was conducted in a university located in southeast China. Due to the large number of ELT learners and high degree of student mobility in China these are issues of much relevance in this setting. The research collected qualitative data through face-to-face interviews, email interviews and focus groups with students on study abroad programmes who have both ELT and first-hand intercultural experiences. Many students spoke positively about aspects of intercultural citizenship, but classroom instruction offered only limited channels for students to experience and understand intercultural communication and citizenship. In contrast, most of their understanding and experiences were gained outside the classroom during study abroad. Furthermore, many students spoke about the importance of English in their development of intercultural connections and citizenship. We conclude that more in-depth and critical approaches to teaching language, culture and intercultural communication in ELT are needed which foster and cultivate students’ sense of intercultural citizenship.

Abstract:A lots of Chinese teachers in the secondary school lack broad sight to the outside even today in which the current world is becoming globalized and integrative day by day. They think foreign literature only means to make students comprehend and appreciate the text,so it is unable to undertake such an important role of literary education as the native literature does. But such an idea we know now falls behind the time and the teaching methods of foreign literature in secondary school should be improved. With applying the means of comparative teaching, we can provide students with multi-dimensional and open space for development to emphatically foster students' sense of futurity and globalization.
Translanguaging As Sociolinguistic Infrastructuring to Foster Epistemic Justice in International Chinese-medium-instruction Degree Programs in China

Abstract:Abstract While extensive studies have been devoted to English-medium-instruction programs as a major strategy of internationalization, there is a paucity of research on the content-and-language learning experiences of international students enrolled in non-English-medium-instruction programs in the Asia-Pacific region. Drawing on the notions of translanguaging and sociolinguistic infrastructuring, the present study investigates translanguaging among instructors and international students in Chinese-medium-instruction (CMI) postgraduate programs in the humanities and social sciences departments in a top university in China. Content analysis of student and instructor interviews reveals that despite the monolingual language policy that governs the medium of instruction for international degree programs at the institutional level, translanguaging serves as sociolinguistic infrastructuring to support some international students’ active participation in knowledge construction, as well as to negotiate tensions imposed by epistemic injustice inherent in disciplinary histories in Chinese academia and the enacted CMI curricula. It is argued that, as a defining feature of translanguaging, sociolinguistic infrastructuring highlights the agentive role of both teachers and international students, who coordinate and navigate distributed and diverse material-semiotic conditions, which can be used to foster a decolonial space for knowledge construction in CMI programs. Pedagogical and curriculum design implications are discussed at the end of the article.

Abstract:This article reports on the findings of a research project carried out by a team of faculties at the Middle East Technical University and the Fulbright Education Committee in Turkey. The project aimed to investigate the Fulbright program's professional, personal, and social impacts and its effectiveness from the perspectives of Turkish scholars. Data were collected by mail from 277 Fulbright scholars living in various regions of Turkey. All of the scholars agreed that their Fulbright experience in the United States had had positive effects on their professional, social, and personal lives. Scholars were especially satisfied with the effect on their personal lives. For example, the Fulbright experience broadened their world viewpoint in a flexible and international setting. These results suggest that Fulbright scholars contribute to the development of the country, because many of them hold high-ranking positions that allow them to develop and implement policies in different sectors. For the development of the Fulbright program, it is recommended that continuous follow-up studies be conducted to identify its strengths and weaknesses.

Abstract:As globalization continues to evolve, the phenomenon of internationalization in education has become an objective situation and a common international occurrence. Particularly in China, with the rise of the economy as a superpower, there has been a series of developments in the internationalization of education. Despite the number of international schools in China increasing from 22 in 2000 to 959 in 2019, serving 400,000 students, the rapid expansion of international schools in China has brought challenges. These “non-traditional” international schools strive to construct an international curriculum system that is “characteristically Chinese”, “high-quality”, and “diverse”. However, they face many challenges, including the lack of integration of Chinese and foreign curricula and the absence of standardized international school management. Therefore, this study aims to delve into the opportunities and challenges faced by these “non-traditional” international schools in building a Chinese-characteristic international curriculum system, through a comprehensive review of relevant domestic and international literature, providing a more detailed direction for future research.

For the purpose of promoting Chinese language education, this article analyzes the status quo of the IECL and problems in the development of IECL, and then proposes constructive strategies for its better development under new circumstances. It is believed that the IECL should adopt “bringing in” and “going out” development strategies as well as actively explore new modes of Chinese language education. In order to improve the dissemination effect of Chinese stories in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, We started with teachers, teaching materials and teaching methods and obtained the following results from the research: Chinese language teachers should improve their intercultural communication skills and become practitioners of international understanding education and tellers of China's stories; international Chinese language teaching materials should be developed by The Framework of Reference for Culture and Society Chinese in International Chinese Language Education and seek to integrate Chinese stories and local stories based on international understanding education; The Chinese pedagogy should gradually adopt a "Concept-based Teaching and Learning" pedagogy to promote the construction of learners' conceptual framework and help them understand China's stories.
