Investigation of nursing strategy for patients with acute coronary syndrome complicated with diabetes mellitus

Abstract:Objective To investigate the risk factors of patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS)complicated with diabetes mellitus and the clinical features when severe complications occur,and propose an emphasis of nursing care.Methods A total of 126 patients with ACS in our hospital from June 2008 to June 2009 were collected.Their clinical features were analysed according to the history of diabetes mellitus.Results Nearly 36.5% of ACS patients suffered from diabetes mellitus.The levels of fasting blood glucose,cholesterol and triglyceride in patients with ACS complicated with diabetes mellitus were much higher than those in non-diabetic patients(P<0.05).The incidence rate and mortality rate of severe adverse events during hospital stay in patients with ACS complicated with diabetes mellitus were significantly higher than those in non-diabetic patients(P<0.05).Conclusion The clinical manifestations of patients with ACS complicated with diabetes mellitus are atypical,with fatal complications and poor prognosis.In order to reduce complications and lower mortality rate,the active treatment of high risk factors and correct preventive measures should be taken.
