Abstract:Further phytochemical investigation on the root barks of Artocarpus petelotii Gagnep afforded two new prenylated 2-arylbenzofurans, artopetelins L and M (1 and 2), as well as a known compound, lakoochin B (3). Their structures were identified by spectroscopic methods. Artopetelins B-E (5-8), four 2-arylbenzofurans previously isolated from this plant, and lakoochin B (3) were potent against HepG2 (IC50 = 14.4-44.4 mu M) and MCF-7 (IC50 29.7-59.1 mu M).

Abstract:Two new isoprenylated 2-arylbenzofurans, artonitidin A (=(2'R)-2',3'-dihydro-2'-(1-hydroxy-1-methylethyl)-5',7-bis(3-methylbut-2-en-1-yl)-2,4'-bi-1-benzofuran-6,6'-diol; 1) and artonitidin B (=5-[6-hyd roxy-7-(3-methylbut-2-en-1-yl)-1-benzofuran-2-yl] -4-(3-methylbut-2-en-1-yl)benzene-1,3-diol; 2), together with 14 known compounds, 3-16, were isolated from the stems of Artocarpus nitidus TREC. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods. Norartocarpin (3), cudraflavone C (5), brosimone I (8), artotonkin (11), albanin A (13), and artopetelin M (14) showed inhibitory effects on pancreatic lipase with IC50 values ranging from 1.8 +/- 0.1 to 63.8 +/- 3.6 mu M.

Abstract:A new mixture of epimeric isomers furanosesquiterpenes (1 and 1a), together with two known furanosesquiterpenes were isolated from Xanthopappus subacaulis, which was used as Tibetan medicine in China. The structures of these compounds were elucidated on the comprehensive analysis of spectroscopic data including UV, IR, MS and NMR. The biosynthetic pathway of furanosesquiterpenes is proposed and the chemotaxonomic significance of these compounds is also discussed.

Abstract:Thirteen compounds were isolated from Artocarpus heterophyllus, including one new di-isoprenylated stilbene, (+/-)-artoheterin A (1), and twelve known isoprenylated phenolics, artocarbene (2), 3',5',2,4-tetrahydroxy-4'-(3-methyl-2-butenyl) stilbene (3), cudrastilbene (4), 3-(3-methyl-2-butenyl) luteolin (5), 5,7,2',4'-tetrahydroxy-6-(3-methyl-2-butenyl) flavone (6), 6-(3-methyl-2-butenyl) apigenin (7), artochamin B (8), 5'-hydroxycudraflavone A (9), artonins A and B (10-11), heterophyllin (12), and 8-(3-methyl-2-buteny1)-6,7-dihydroxycoumarin (13). The structures of these compounds were identified by spectroscopic methods. All isolated compounds were screened for their inhibitory abilities against cathepsin K (CatK). Of them, compounds 1-4 and 8-13 were found to have suppression capabilities against CatK with IC50 values ranging from 1.9 to 73.7 mu M.

Abstract:Two new prenylated stilbenes, artochamins F (1) and G (2), and their four novel derivatives, artochamins H-K (3-6), were isolated from the stems of Artocarpus chama. Abstract:The phytochemical investigation of the root bark of Pseudolarix kaempferi yielded eight eudesmane-type sesquiterpenoids, including three new ones, 1α-hydroxyl-4(14)-en-β-dihydroagarafuran (1), 1α, 2α-diacetoxy-8β-isobutanoyloxy-9α-benzoyl oxy-15-β-(β-furancarbonyloxy)-4β, 6β-dihydroxy-β-dihydroagarofuran (7), and 1α-acetoxy-2 α-furancarbonyloxy-8β-isobutanoyloxy-9α-benzoyloxy-15β-(β-acetoxy)-4β, 6β-dihydroxy-β-dihydroagarofuran (8). Herein the new compounds 7 and 8 were reported as a mixture. The molecular structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis, including UV, IR, NMR, and MS, and comparison with the literature data.

Abstract:OBJECTIVETo study the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects of Petasites tricholobus and its phenolic components.METHODPhenolic compounds were separated purified by column chromatographic methods such as macroporous resin D-101, silica gel, ODS, MCI GEL CHP 20P, Sephadex LH-20. Their structures were identified on the basis of physicochemical property and multiple spectral data.RESULTNineteen phenolic compounds were separated from 95% ethanol extracts from P. tricholobus Franch. and identified as sulfonated benzyl glucoside (1), 3-(4beta-D-glucopyranosyloxy-3, 5-dimethoxy) -phenyl-2E-propenol (2), dihydrosyringin (3), tangshenosides II (4), 4-hydroxy-2,6-dimethoxyphenol-1-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (5), 4-hydroxymethyl-2, 6-dimethoxyphenyl-1-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (6), arbutin (7), rutin (8), kaempferol-3-O-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 --> 6)-beta-D-glucopyranoside (9), quercetin-3-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (10), kaempferol-3-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (11), afzelin (12), petasiphenol (13), caffeic acid (14), chlorogenic acid (15), 2-hydroxy-5-acetylbenzoic acid (16), p-hydroxy-benzoic acid (17), protocatechuic aldehyde (18) , and p-hydroxy-phenylpropionic acid (19).CONCLUSIONAbove result shows that phenolic compounds contained in P. tricholobus mainly include simple phenols, phenolic glycosides, coffee acid and flavonoid glycosides. Among them, compound 1 was separated from the composite family for the first time; compounds 2-7, 9, 11, 12, 16, 19 were separated from the genus Petasites for the first time, and the others were separated from the plant for the first time. These compounds have been proved to have pharmacological effects such as anti-inflammation, antibiosis, antioxidantion.

Abstract:Three new isoprenylated flavones, hypargyflavones A-C (1-3, resp.), and one novel stilbene derivative, hypargystilbene A (4), together with seven known compounds, 5-11, were isolated from the stems of Artocarpus hypargyreus Hance. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods. Hypargyflavone A (1), cudraflavone C (8), brosimone I (10), and norartocarpin (11) showed inhibitory effects on pancreatic lipase.

Abstract:Phytochemical study on the stems and leaves of Artocarpus tonkinensis led to the isolation of a new 2-arylbenzofuran, artocartone ( 1 ), as well as seven known 2-arylbenzofurans ( 2–8 ). The chemical structure of 1 was established by means of comprehensive spectroscopic analyses and the known compounds were determined by comparing their MS and NMR data with those reported data in literature. The antiproliferative activities of all isolates 1–8 against five human cancer cell lines: HL-60, SMMC-7721, A-375, MCF-7 and SW480 in vitro were evaluated. As a result, compounds 1– 8 displayed notable antiproliferative activities against various human cancer cell lines with IC 50 values in the range of 0.28 ± 0.05–26.89 ± 0.18 μM.

Abstract:A series of sesquiterpene polyol esters, including two new β-dihydroagarofuran sesquiterpenes (1-2) and 14 known compounds (3-16), were isolated from the root bark of Pseudolarix kaempferi. The esters⿿ structures were elucidated by employing extensive spectroscopic analyses and by comparison to literature compounds. The absolute configurations of the two new compounds were determined by the CD exciton chirality method. The known compounds 3-16 were isolated from the Pseudolarix genus for the first time.

Their structures were elucidated, on the basis of spectral analysis including 2D nmr, as 1-beta-acetoxy-8-beta,9-alpha-dibenzoyloxy-6-alpha-hydroxy-2-beta(alpha-methylbutanoyloxy)-beta-dihydroagarofuran {1} and 1-beta-acetoxy-9-alpha-benzoyloxy-8-beta(beta-furancarbonyloxy)-6-alpha-hydroxy-2-beta(alpha-methylbutanoyloxy)-beta-dihydroagarofuran {2}.

Abstract:Objective To study the constituents in the n-butanol extract in the bark of Pseudolarix kaempferi. Methods The compounds were isolated by repeated chromatography and their structures were identified on the basis of spectral methods, chemical analysis, and reference to the literature data. Results A new methyl benzoate allopyranoside, pseudolaroside C, together with 14 known compounds (Ⅱ-ⅩⅤ) were isolated from the bark of P. kaempferi for the first time, such as shikimic acid (Ⅱ), methyl shikimate (Ⅲ), ononin (Ⅳ), calycosin-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (Ⅴ), 2′-hydroxynaringenin (Ⅵ), jasminoside E (Ⅶ), roseoside Ⅱ (Ⅷ), icariside B5 (Ⅸ), blumenol C glucoside (Ⅹ), 1, 2-O-isopropylidene-O-β-D-fructopyranose (Ⅺ), methyl O-β-D-frucopyranoside (ⅩⅡ), and methyl O-β-D-frucofuranoside (ⅩⅢ). Conclusion Compound Ⅰ is a new compound named as pseudolaroside C, compounds Ⅱ-ⅩⅢ are isolated and identified from this plant for the first time.

Abstract:One new highly oxygenated nortriterpene, named sieverlactone (1), one new sesquiterpene, 1 beta, 10 beta-epoxy-8 alpha-acetoxyachillin (2), one new natural product, 5-propinyl-thiophene-2-carboxylic acid (3), and one new thiophene, 3-hydroxy-5-propinyl-2-acetyl-thiophene (4), together with 10 other known compounds (5 - 14), were isolated from the dried aerial parts of Artemisia sieversiana. Their structures were elucidated by a combination of extensive spectroscopic analysis, including 1D, 2D NMR spectroscopic and mass spectrometric data. Meanwhile, the stereochemistry of 1 and 2 was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction technique using Cu radiation. All the isolates were evaluated for their anti-neuroinflammatory effects on the lipopolysaccharide-induced nitric oxide production in BV-2 murine microglial cells. Compounds 2, 5, and 6 exhibited the significant activities with IC50 values of 6.5 +/- 0.5, 11.9 +/- 0.7, and 10.1 +/- 0.3 mu M, respectively, comparable to the positive control, quercetin, with an IC50 value of 16.3 +/- 0.4 mu M. Abstract:Two new isoprenylated flavonoids, artotonins A and B (1 and 2), along with 13 known compounds (3–15), were isolated from the roots of Artocarpus tonkinensis A. Chev. ex Gagnep. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods. Cyclocommunol (6), isocyclomulberrin (7), cudraflavone C (11), and morusin (13) exhibited cytotoxicity against hepatocellular carcinoma (SMMC-7721) and gastric carcinoma (BGC-823 and SGC-7901) cell lines.

Abstract:Four new phenols and one new aminobenzoic acid derivative, with five known phenols were isolated from the roots of Rhus chinensis Mill. Their structures were elucidated by UV, IR, HRESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR spectra, as well as optical rotations. Compound 4 significantly inhibited mouse ear inflammation (inhibitory rate of 44.03%), and significantly extended the time of pain response (extension rate of 48.55%), showing significant anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects in vivo.

Abstract:In this study, 2-arylbenzo[b]furan-containing derivatives moracin C (1) and moracin M (4), the natural products from Artocarpus, have been synthesized in highest overall yield to date (1, 7 steps with an overall yield of 41.9%; 4, 6 steps with an overall yield of 56.3%), and we also report the first total synthesis of artoindonesianin B-1 (2), another member of this family, in the same route (8 steps with an overall yield of 11.3%). This discovery provides a concise route for preparing enough amounts of 1, 2, and 4 as well as 2-arylbenzo[b]furan-containing natural product-like analogs (71–74) to explore the biological potential.
