Abstract:We establish the regularity theory for certain critical elliptic systems with an anti-symmetric structure under inhomogeneous Neumann and Dirichlet boundary constraints. As applications, we prove full regularity and smooth estimates at the free boundary for weakly Dirac-harmonic maps from spin Riemann surfaces. Our methods also lead to the full interior ϵ -regularity and smooth estimates for weakly Dirac-harmonic maps in all dimensions.

Abstract:In this paper, we will study the partial regularity for stationary Dirac-harmonic maps with $$\lambda $$-curvature term. For a weakly stationary Dirac-harmonic map with $$\lambda $$-curvature term $$(\phi ,\psi )$$ from a smooth bounded open domain $$\Omega \subset {\mathbb {R}}^m$$ with $$m\ge 2$$ to a compact Riemannian manifold N, if $$\psi \in W^{1,p}(\Omega )$$ for some $$p>\frac{2m}{3}$$, we prove that $$(\phi , \psi )$$ is smooth outside a closed singular set whose $$(m-2)$$-dimensional Hausdorff measure is zero. Furthermore, if the target manifold N does not admit any harmonic sphere $$S^l$$, $$l=2,\ldots , m-1$$, then $$(\phi ,\psi )$$ is smooth.

Abstract:We study Dirac-harmonic maps from degenerating spin surfaces with uniformly bounded energy and show the so-called generalized energy identity in the case that the domain converges to a spin surface with only Neveu–Schwarz type nodes. We find condition that is both necessary and sufficient for the W 1,2 × L 4 modulo bubbles compactness of a sequence of such maps.

Abstract:Dirac-harmonic maps are a mathematical version (with commuting variables only) of the solutions of the field equations of the non-linear supersymmetric sigma model of quantum field theory. We explain this structure, including the appropriate boundary conditions, in a geometric framework. The main results of our paper are concerned with the analytic regularity theory of such Dirac-harmonic maps. We study Dirac-harmonic maps from a Riemannian surface to an arbitrary compact Riemannian manifold. We show that a weakly Dirac-harmonic map is smooth in the interior of the domain. We also prove regularity results for Dirac-harmonic maps at the boundary when they solve an appropriate boundary value problem which is the mathematical interpretation of the D-branes of superstring theory.

Abstract:We show the existence of a global weak solution of the heat flow for Dirac-harmonic maps from compact Riemann surfaces with boundary when the energy of the initial map and the L-2-norm of the boundary values of the spinor are sufficiently small. Dirac-harmonic maps couple a second order harmonic map type system with a first-order Dirac type system. The heat flow that has been introduced in [9] and that we investigate here is novel insofar as we only make the second order part parabolic, but carry the first order part along the resulting flow as an elliptic constraint. Of course, since the equations are coupled, both parts then change along the flow. The solution is unique and regular with the exception of at most finitely many singular times. We also discuss the behavior at the singularities of the flow. As an application, we deduce some existence results for Dirac-harmonic maps. Since we may impose nontrivial boundary conditions also for the spinor part, in the limit, we shall obtain Dirac-harmonic maps with nontrivial spinor part. (C) 2017 Elsevier Masson SAS. Abstract:In this paper, we studied the regularity problem for harmonic maps into hyperbolic spaces with prescribed singularities along codimension two submanifolds. This is motivated from one of Hawking's conjectures on the uniqueness of Kerr solutions among all axially symmetric asymptotically flat stationary solutions to the vacuum Einstein equation in general relativity.

Abstract:We study the evolution equations for a regularized version of Dirac-harmonic maps from closed Riemannian surfaces. We establish the existence of a global weak solution for the regularized problem, which is smooth away from finitely many singularities. Moreover, we discuss the convergence of the evolution equations and address the question if we can remove the regularization in the end.

Abstract:In this paper the partial regularity of the weak heat flow of harmonic maps from a Riemannian manifold M into a general compact Riemannian manifold N without boundary is considered. Partial results have been obtained for target manifolds that are spheres [12, 4] or homogeneous spaces [6]. The proofs in these special cases relied heavily on the geometry of these manifolds, and cannot be applied to the general case. We prove in this article that the singular set Sing(u) of the stationary weak heat flow satisfies H n ρ (Sing(u))=0, with n=dimension M, where H n ρ is the Hausdorff measure with respect to parabolic metric .

Abstract:We show the regularity of, and derive a-priori estimates for (weakly) harmonic maps from a Riemannian manifold into a Euclidean sphere under the assumption that the image avoids some neighborhood of a half-equator. The proofs combine constructions of strictly convex functions and the regularity theory of quasi-linear elliptic systems. We apply these results to the spherical and Euclidean Bernstein problems for minimal hypersurfaces, obtaining new conditions under which compact minimal hypersurfaces in spheres or complete minimal hypersurfaces in Euclidean spaces are trivial.

Abstract:Let $f:N\rightarrow (M,g)$ be an oriented (or spin), complete, stable, minimal, immersed hypersurface. In this paper we establish various vanishing theorems for the space of $L^2$-harmonic forms and spinors (in the spin case) under suitable positive curvature assumptions on the ambient manifold. Our results in the setting of forms extend to higher dimensions and more general ambient Riemannian manifolds previous vanishing theorems due to Tanno \cite{Tanno} and Zhu \cite{Zhu}. In the setting of spin manifolds our results allow to conclude, for instance, that any oriented, complete, stable, minimal, immersed hypersurface of $\mathbb{R}^m$ or $\mathbb{S}^m$ carries no non-trivial $L^2$-harmonic spinors. Finally, analogous results are proved for strongly stable constant mean curvature hypersurfaces.
