Thermal State Data and Clinical Significance of Cold or Heat Syndromes in HIV/AIDS Patients

Abstract:Objective To study the infrared charts in HIV/AIDS patients in the cold-syndrome group(n=45),heat-syndrome group(n=45) and control group(n=118) by applying infrared thermal imaging technology,and analyse and interpret the results based on TCM theory.Methods The thermal difference data of Governor Vessel(GV),Conception Vessel(CV),Shenque(CV8),kidney,life gate,triple energizer,five zang-vescera and six bowels were observed and analysed by using T-test method in the cold-syndrome group,heat-syndrome group and control group.Results ①The thermal state in GV,middle energizer and lower energizer all was lower in the cold-syndrome gooup and heat-syndrome group compared with the control group with a significant difference.②The thermal state in CV,CV8 and lung in the cold-syndrome group was significantly different compared with the control group.③The thermal state in liver and CV8 was significantly lower in the cold-syndrome group than that in the heat-syndrome group.Conclusion The constitution type of HIV/AIDS patients is insufficiency of primordial yang compared with the persons of normal constitution.The cold-syndrome group manifests as the insufficiency of kidney-yang in lower energizer and the decrease of energy metabolism of small intestine.The heat-syndrome group manifests as the decrease of energy in life gate indicating the consumption of genuine yin and genuine yang.The thermal state of liver is higher in the heat-syndrome group than that in the cold-syndrome group,which is supposed that there is inflammatory changes and manifests TCM pathogenesis of excessive pathogenic heat.
