Abstract:Porous spheres of CuSCN nanoparticles with an average diameter of 0.4–0.6 μm have been prepared by a simple reaction between CuO suspension, NH2OH and KSCN in the presence of gelatin at 10 °C. Gelatin played a decisive role as an inhibitor of the direct attack of NH2OH, KSCN to CuO surfaces and coagulation of the growing CuSCN in producing porous spheres. The products were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectra techniques.

Abstract:Porous copper oxide has been synthesized via copper oxalate precursor, which was prepared in mild condition without any template or additive. Powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and nitrogen physisorption method are used to characterize various properties of the obtained samples. SEM analyses show that the precursor morphology was maintained after calcination, and the obtained hierarchically copper oxide was built up of nanocrystals. Nitrogen physisorption analyses show that copper oxide samples were very porous. The porous material could be found application in catalysis field.

Abstract:Spherical CuI nanoparticles were prepared by liquid phase technique with crude iodine and CuSO4 as raw material,and N2H4·H2O as reducing agent.Effect of liquid phase technique conditions on the microstructure of cuprous iodide was studied by XRD and SEM techniques.The results indicate that the reactant concentration,time,stirring rate and surfactant quantity have great impact on the morphology of cuprous iodide crystal.The optimum technique condition supports the formation of spherical CuI nanoparticles due to the growth inhibition of CuI crystal and the increase of nucleation rate and grain refinement of primary particles size.The γ-CuI crystal with size of 50 to 100 nm and little reunited was successfully prepared under the conditions of 0.1 mol/L CuSO4 and 0.2 mol/L NH4I,0.8% PEG-6000,stirring rate of 500 r/min and time of 30 min.

Abstract:Hollow spheres of Cu2O with an average diameter of 0.3–0.6μm have been prepared by a simple reaction between CuO suspension and NH2OH in the presence of deionized gelatin at room temperature. Abstract:Monodispersed Cu 2 O particles with different morphologies were successfully synthesized by using two different facile methods without any surfactants, and characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The two methods resulted in two different particle formation mechanisms. Spherical Cu 2 O particles were formed due to solely aggregation of subunits, in comparison with the formation of cubic, polyhedral, and octahedral particles resulting from aggregation followed by diffusion control. Aggregation accounted for the size of particles, while diffusion influenced their morphology. Further controlled experiments were performed to investigate the factors affecting the morphology of the particles, demonstrating that the precursor solid and NaOH concentration significantly influenced the morphology of the Cu 2 O particles. The preparation methods as well as the formation mechanisms presented in this study have broad prospects for industrial application.

Abstract:The nano-sized Cu particles have been prepared by a mechanochemical reaction. The structure of Cu particle has been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction(XRD), transmission electron microscope(TEM) and differential thermal analysis(DTA). The results showed that the Cu particle is around 20 nm in size, and it is so chemically active that Cu2O is formed in the surface of the particle. The nano-sized Cu particles agglomerate if the temperature increases beyond 400 degrees C. In addition, the formation mechanism of nanosized Cu particles was discussed.

Abstract:Copper(I) iodide (CuI) nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by a new solution phase co-precipitation approach in the presence of both coordinating and noncoordinating solvents. The as-synthesized CuI nanoparticles with uniform morphology are identified to pure cubic phase. The size of nanoparticles can be effectively controlled by adjusting reaction temperature. The amount of the surfactants has a remarkable influence on both morphology and the distribution of the CuI nancrystals. The influence of CuI nanoparticles size on the photoluminescence (PL) characteristics is investigated in details. The PL spectra imply that, emission at 411 nm gradually enhances while the emission at 421 nm gets weaker with the increase of CuI nanoparticles size. It has been proposed that the changes of luminescence behavior of CuI nanoparticles are mainly attributed to the enhanced crystallinity and the reduced defects concentration with the increase of CuI nanoparticles size.

Abstract:CuI nanorods have been firstly prepared by water-in-oil microemulsions using Cu(dmg)2 as precursor at low temperature as low as 70°C. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) measurements show that the CuI nanorods are pure γ-phase crystals with diameters ranging from 50 to 80nm and lengths up to 500nm. UV–vis spectrum reveals that the nanorods exhibit a blue shift and possess of wider band gap energy. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) reveals the nanorods own larger grain boundary resistance. Results of comparative experiments indicate that the rod-like structure of Cu(dmg)2 crystals leads the CuI crystals growing in one direction especially and the reverse microemulsion system plays a crucial role in making products symmetrical and uniform.

Abstract:In this study, we present a facile method for preparing oxidation-resistant Cu nanoparticles through a liquid-phase reduction with imidazole compounds (imidazole, 2-methylimidazole, 2-phenylimidazole, and benzimidazole) that serve as protective and dispersing agents. Through a complexation reaction between Cu atoms, the imidazole compounds can form a protective film on the Cu nanoparticles to prevent the particles from rapidly oxidizing. We compared the effects of the four kinds of imidazole compounds on the oxidation resistance and sintering properties of Cu particles. The Cu particles prepared with benzimidazole could be stored in the air for 30 days without being oxidized. After sintering at 300 °C and 2 MPa, the joint of the particles could reach a shear strength of 32 MPa, which meets the requirements for microelectronic packaging.

Abstract:In this work, we report a simple liquid reduction approach to prepare Cu2O hollow microsphere film and hollow nanosphere powder with Cu(OH)2 nanorods as precursor and ascorbic acid as the reductant at 60°C. When Cu(OH)2 nanorod array film grown on a copper foil is used as the precursor, Cu2O thin film made up of hollow microspheres with average diameter of 1.2μm is successfully prepared. When the Cu(OH)2 nanorods are scraped from the copper foil and then used as the precursor, Cu2O hollow nanosphere powder with the average diameter of 270nm is obtained. The samples are characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and ultraviolet–vis light (UV–vis) absorption spectra. A possible formation mechanism of Cu2O hollow spheres is discussed.

Abstract:Here we report a very simple method to convert conventional CuO powders to nanoparticle interlinked microsphere cages by solution method. CuO is dissolved into aqueous ammonia, and the solution is diluted by alcohol and dip coating onto a glass substrate. Drying at 80 °C, the nanostructures with bunchy nanoparticles of Cu(OH) 2 can be formed. After the substrate immerges into the solution and we vaporize the solution, hollow microspheres can be formed onto the substrate. There are three phases in the as-prepared samples, monoclinic tenorite CuO, orthorhombic Cu(OH) 2 , and monoclinic carbonatodiamminecopper(II) (Cu(NH 3 ) 2 CO 3 ). After annealing at 150 °C, the products convert to CuO completely. At annealing temperature above 350 °C, the hollow microspheres became nanoparticle interlinked cages.

Abstract:Global hollow nanoparticles of Cu7S4 and Ag2S were prepared by Kirkendall effect using Cu2O and Ag2O nanoparticles as precursors. XRD, TEM and SEM were used to characterize the nanoparticles. The mechanism of the reaction was studied and the easiness of different oxides to react with Na2S Solution were discussed in terms of theoretical point of view. The results indicate that the reaction occured from outer part to inner part of precursor nanoparticles. The morphology of the hollow nanoparticles was very similar to that of precursor nanoparticles.

Abstract:Diffusion is one of the most critical factors which affect the performance of porous catalysts in heterogeneous reactions. Hollow spheres with a hierarchical structure could significantly improve the mass transfer in the spherical catalyst. Therefore, preparation of such kind of microspheres is an important work in the field of inorganic synthesis. Herein, we combine microfluidic technology and electroless deposition to prepare hollow Cu and CuO x microspheres with a hierarchically porous structure. These microspheres have a controllable diameter (100-500 μm) and shell thickness (10-60 μm). Numerical simulation and experimental results indicate that the hollow structure is beneficial for the diffusion and utilization of the catalyst in heterogeneous reactions. The Cu and CuO x microspheres were used to catalyze the hydrogenation and Fenton-like reactions in a flow reactor, respectively. The conversion of all reactants can reach more than 95%, and catalysts can maintain their reactivity in long reaction times. Thus, the strategy in the present research should apply in the construction of other porous catalysts with high performance.

Abstract:CuO nanoparticles with an average size of ca. 4nm have been successfully prepared by microwave irradiation, using copper (II) acetate and sodium hydroxide as the starting materials and ethanol as the solvent. The CuO nanoparticles are characterized by using techniques such as X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, selected area electron diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and UV–Visible absorption spectroscopy. The as-prepared CuO nanoparticles have regular shape, narrow size distribution and high purity. The band gap is estimated to be 2.43eV according to the results of the optical measurements of the CuO nanoparticles.

Abstract:γ -CuI nanocrystalline with zincblende structure was prepared through a kind of simple ethanol thermal reaction between copper salts and crystal iodine at low temperature. The resulting samples were characterized by power X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The reactants play an important role on the morphology of as formed products. Electron diffraction (ED) indicated the samples were well crystallized. The possible mechanism of the formation of CuI in this process was discussed.

Abstract:Herein, we report that octahedral and spherical Cu2O samples with hollow structures are synthesized in high yield by reducing Cu(EDA)(2)(2+) complex with hydrazine. A series of experiments are carried out to investigate the factors which impact on the morphology of the Cu2O samples. It is observed that ethylenediamine (EDA) serves as a molecular template in the formation of hollow structure. Octahedral Cu2O with solid structure is prepared without EDA. When EDA is added, Cu2O sample with hollow structure is formed. Different morphologies of Cu2O such as spherical and octahedral could be obtained by adjusting the concentration of EDA and NaOH. The temporal crystal growth mechanism is proposed. Furthermore, the photocatalytic activities of the as-prepared Cu2O nanoparticles are evaluated by monitoring two dyes (methyl orange and congo red) using UV-visible spectrophotometer. Results show that the order of photocatalytic activity of Cu2O with different morphologies is as follows: hollow octahedral morphology > hollow sphere morphology > solid octahedral morphology. The hollow octahedral Cu2O nanoparticles would be a promising material on applications for photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants.

Abstract:We report fabrication of CuS particles with solid, hollow, spherical and tubular structures in a simple aqueous system under microwave irradiation, employing CuSO 4 and Na 2 S 2 O 3 as the starting materials without assistance of any surfactant or template. Energy-dispersive X-ray analysis and an X-ray powder diffraction pattern proved that the product is hexagonal CuS phase. The morphologies of the product were observed by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. Some factors affecting the morphologies of the product are discussed.

Abstract:Uniform CuInS2 porous microspheres were synthesized on a large scale using CuCl2·2H2O, InCl3·4H2O and KSCN as starting reagents in ethylene glycol at 200 °C for 12 h. XRD result reveals that the obtained products are well crystallized. FESEM observation reveals that the prepared microspheres are composed of sheet-like nanocrystals. The possible formation mechanism was simply discussed.

Abstract:Nanoribbons and monodispersed nanocrystals of CuBr have been prepared by a simple reaction between CuO suspension, NH2OH·HCl and KBr in the presence of deionized gelatin at 10°C. The products were characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and UV–vis absorption spectroscopy. The sizes of the monodispersed nanocrystals of CuBr were estimated by Debye-Scherrer formula according to XRD spectrum.

Abstract:<p>Thermal oxidation of Cu substrate in air is one of the most practical preparation methods for the preparation of CuO nanowires (NWs). Many efforts have been made to tune the CuO morphology, while there is quite rare report on the CuO morphology tuning by adjusting the copper substrate. In the present work, novel hierarchical porous Cu and the directional microporous Cu structures were prepared by etching Cu–Fe 3D printing precursors with or without ultrasonic treatment, respectively. Hierarchical nanostructures composed by CuO NWs within directional microporous Cu have been successfully prepared by thermal oxidizing a directional microporous Cu. The effect of the nanoporous Cu on the formation of the hierarchical nanostructures and the hierarchical nanostructures' morphology evolution were investigated. This work provides a novel insight into the preparation of hierarchical nanostructures by coupling nanostructures with the directional microporous structure.</p>
