Abstract:Objective To improve the safety and feasibility of the intra-hospital transport of critically ill patients.Methods A mobile intensive care unit(MICU) was set up in 2012,equipped with a professional transport team,monitoring and life support instruments,transport process,emergency project and strict quality control system,for transportation of critically ill patients.Results The critically ill patients were successfully transported 214 times.Three patients returned to the intensive care unit because the pulse oxygen saturation was below 90% in the initial stage of transport,and were transported safely later when they were in stable condition.No accidental death or dislocation of artificial airway occurred during transport.Conclusion The MICU provides a continuous monitoring environment for the critically ill patients,reduces the adverse events during transport and ensures the safety of transport.
