Abstract:In this article, we study the notions of $n$-isometries in non-Archimedean $n$-normed spaces over linear ordered non-Archimedean fields, and prove the Mazur-Ulam theorem in the spaces. Furthermore, we obtain some properties for $n$-isometries in non-Archimedean $n$-normed spaces.

Abstract:It was proved by S. Mazur and S. Ulam in 1932 that every isometric surjection between normed real vector spaces is affine. We generalize the Mazur–Ulam theorem and find necessary and sufficient conditions under which distance-preserving mappings between seminormed real vector spaces are linear.

Abstract:Let X and Y be two infinite dimensional complex Banach spaces, and let be a unital linear surjection from B(X) onto B(Y). The authors prove that preserves the quasi-affinity of operators in both directions if and only if it is either an isomorphism or an anti-isomorphism; 4 preserves the range density of operators in both directions if and only if it is an isomorphism.

Abstract:Let $E$ be a two-dimensional real normed space. In this paper we show that if the unit circle of $E$ does not contain any line segment such that the distance between its endpoints is greater than 1, then every transformation $\phi\colon E\to E$ which preserves the unit distance is automatically an affine isometry. In particular, this condition is satisfied when the norm is strictly convex.

Uniform homeomorphisms between spheres of unitarily invariant ideals

Abstract:The classical Mazur map is a uniform homeomorphism between the unit spheres of $L_p$ spaces, and the version for noncommutative $L_p$ spaces has the same property. Odell and Schlumprecht used two types of generalized Mazur maps to prove that the unit sphere of a Banach space $X$ with an unconditional basis is uniformly homeomorphic to the unit sphere of a Hilbert space if and only if $X$ does not contain $\ell_\infty^n$'s uniformly. We prove a noncommutative version of this result, yielding uniform homeomorphisms between spheres of unitarily invariant ideals, and along the way we study noncommutative versions of the aforementioned generalized Mazur maps: one based on the $p$-convexification procedure, and one based on the minimization of quantum relative entropy. The main result provides new examples of Banach spaces whose unit spheres are uniformly homeomorphic to the unit sphere of a Hilbert space (in fact, spaces with the property (H) of Kasparov and Yu).

Mappings of finite distortion on metric surfaces

Abstract:We investigate basic properties of mappings of finite distortion $f:X \to \mathbb{R}^2$, where $X$ is any metric surface, i.e., metric space homeomorphic to a planar domain with locally finite $2$-dimensional Hausdorff measure. We introduce lower gradients, which complement the upper gradients of Heinonen and Koskela, to study the distortion of non-homeomorphic maps on metric spaces. We extend the Iwaniec-Šverák theorem to metric surfaces: a non-constant $f:X \to \mathbb{R}^2$ with locally square integrable upper gradient and locally integrable distortion is continuous, open and discrete. We also extend the Hencl-Koskela theorem by showing that if $f$ is moreover injective then $f^{-1}$ is a Sobolev map.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{B} (X)$ be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on an infinite-dimensional complex Banach space $X$. In this note, we show that a lemma used in the proof of the main result of [ Taghavi and Hosseinzadeh, linear and Multilinear algebra (2013) 1285-1292.] has an incorrect proof. Then, instead of such a lemma, we provide two elementary lemmas to obtain a proof of Taghavi and Hosseinzadeh's main result free of errors.

On Enriched Suzuki Mappings in Hadamard Spaces

Abstract:We define and study enriched Suzuki mappings in Hadamard spaces. The results obtained here are extending fundamental findings previously established in related research. The extension is realized with respect to at least two different aspects: the setting and the class of involved operators. More accurately, Hilbert spaces are particular Hadamard spaces, while enriched Suzuki nonexpansive mappings are natural generalizations of enriched nonexpansive mappings. Next, enriched Suzuki nonexpansive mappings naturally contain Suzuki nonexpansive mappings in Hadamard spaces. Besides technical lemmas, the results of this paper deal with (1) the existence of fixed points for enriched Suzuki nonexpansive mappings and (2) Δ and strong (metric) convergence of Picard iterates of the α-averaged mapping, which are exactly Krasnoselskij iterates for the original mapping.

Abstract:In this paper, we first show that for a Banach space X there is a fully order-reversing mapping T from conv(X) (the cone of all extended real-valued lower semicontinuous proper convex functions defined on X) onto itself if and only if X is reflexive and linearly isomorphic to its dual X*. Then we further prove the following generalized Artstein-Avidan-Milman representation theorem: For every fully order-reversing mapping T: conv(X) → conv(X) there exist a linear isomorphism U: X → X*, x0*, φ0 ∈ X*, α > 0 and r0 ∈ ℝ so that $$(Tf)(x) = alpha ({cal F}f)(Ux + x_0^ *) + leftlangle {{varphi _0},x} ight angle + {r_0},;;;;;forall x in X,$$ where ({cal F}): conv(X) → conv(X*) is the Fenchel transform. Hence, these resolve two open questions. We also show several representation theorems of fully order-preserving mappings defined on certain cones of convex functions. For example, for every fully order-preserving mapping S: semn(X) → semn(X) there is a linear isomorphism U: X → X so that $$(Sf)(x) = f(Ux),;;;;;forall f in { m{semn}}(X),;;;;;x in X,$$ where semn(X) is the cone of all lower semicontinuous seminorms on X.

On a problem of Mazur and Sternbach

Abstract:We investigate Problem 155 form the "Scottish Book" due to S. Mazur and L. Sternbach. In modern terminology they asked if every bijective, locally isometric map between two real Banach spaces is always a global isometry. Recently, an affirmative answer when the source space is separable was obtained by M. Mori, using techniques related to the Mazur-Ulam theorem and its generalizations. The main purpose of this short note is to offer a different approach to Problem 155 motivated by recent advances in metric geometry. We show that it has an affirmative answer under the additional assumption that the map considered is a local isometry.

Abstract:We introduce the class of compactly Hölder mappings between metric spaces and determine the extent to which they distort the Minkowski dimension of a given set. These mappings are defined purely with metric notions and can be seen as a generalization of Sobolev mappings, without the requirement for a measure on the source space. In fact, we show that if $f:X\rightarrow Y$ is a continuous mapping lying in some super-critical Newtonian-Sobolev space $N^{1,p}(X,\mu)$, under standard assumptions on the metric measure space $(X,d,\mu)$, it is then a compactly Hölder mapping. The dimension distortion result we obtain is new even for Sobolev mappings between weighted Euclidean spaces and generalizes previous results of Kaufman and Bishop-Hakobyan-Williams.

Abstract:We consider mappings satisfying an upper bound for the distortion of families of curves. We establish lower bounds for the distortion of distances under such mappings. As applications, we obtain theorems on the discreteness of the limit mapping of a sequence of mappings converging locally uniformly. We separately consider cases when mappings are defined in Euclidean $n$-dimensional space and in a metric space.

Abstract:AbstractWe have systematically made the numerical exploration about the perturbation extension of area-preserving mappings to three-dimensional ones, in which the fixed points of area preserving are elliptic, parabolic or hyperbolic respectively. It has been observed that: (i) the invariant manifolds in the vicinity of the fixed point generally don’t exist (ii) when the invariant curve of original two-dimensional mapping exists the invariant tubes do also in the neighbourhood of the invariant curve (iii) for the perturbation extension of area-preserving mapping the invariant manifolds can only be generated in the subset of the invariant manifolds of original two-dimensional mapping, (iv) for the perturbation extension of area preserving mappings with hyperbolic or parabolic fixed point the ordered region near and far from the invariant curve will be destroyed by perturbation more easily than the other one, This is a result different from the case with the elliptic fixed point. In the latter the ordered region near invariant curve is solid. Some of the results have been demonstrated exactly.Finally we have discussed the Kolmogorov Entropy of the mappings and studied some applications.
On the expansiveness of coarse maps between Banach spaces and geometry preservation

Abstract:We introduce a new notion of embeddability between Banach spaces. By studying the classical Mazur map, we show that it is strictly weaker than the notion of coarse embeddability. We use the techniques from metric cotype introduced by M. Mendel and A. Naor to prove results about cotype preservation and complete our study of embeddability between $\ell_p$ spaces. We confront our notion with nonlinear invariants introduced by N. Kalton, which are defined in terms of concentration properties for Lipschitz maps defined on countably branching Hamming or interlaced graphs. Finally, we address the problem of the embeddability into $\ell_\infty$.

Abstract:We study geometrically finite one-dimensional mappings. These are a subspace of $C^{1+\alpha}$ one-dimensional mappings with finitely many, critically finite critical points. We study some geometric properties of a mapping in this subspace. We prove that this subspace is closed under quasisymmetrical conjugacy. We also prove that if two mappings in this subspace are topologically conjugate, they are then quasisymmetrically conjugate. We show some examples of geometrically finite one-dimensional mappings.
