Abstract:A simple, air-stable, inexpensive and easily prepared molecule, N-methyliminodiacetic acid (MIDA), is reported as a ligand for palladium-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction of phenylboronic acid with aryl chlorides. The yield of the corresponding Suzuki coupling reaction is up to around 90% at both high temperature of 80 degrees C and room temperature under ambient atmosphere. Abstract:A rapid and efficient method for synthesis of unsymmetrical ketones involves reaction of sodium tetraphenylborate with aroyl chlorides in the presence of catalytic amount Pd(PPh3)(2)Cl-2 under microwave irradiation to give the corresponding phenyl ketones 3a-j in 87-98% yield.

Abstract:Herein, we report a catalyst system for Pd-catalyzed decarbonylative Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling of aroyl chlorides with boronic acids to furnish biaryls. This strategy is suitable for a broad range of common aroyl chlorides and boronic acids. The synthetic utility is highlighted in the direct late-stage functionalization of pharmaceuticals and natural products capitalizing on the presence of carboxylic acid moiety. Extensive mechanistic and DFT studies provide key insight into the reaction mechanism and high decarbonylative cross-coupling selectivity.

Abstract:Suzuki-Miyaura cross-couplings of arenediazonium salts with arylboronic acids catalyzed by highly active aluminium hydroxide-supported palladium nanoparticles catalyst have been investigated for the first time. The reactions are performed at 25 degrees C in MeOH without any base and ligand to afford biaryls in good to excellent yields under non-anhydrous and non-degassed conditions.

Abstract:In the presence of acenaphthoimidazole N-heterocyclic carbene palladium complexes, cyanation of aryl bromides by non-toxic and inexpensive potassium hexacyanoferrate (II) as cyanide source in water has been investigated under microwave conditions. Both electron-donating and electron-withdrawing groups attached to the substrates show unobvious effects on the transformation and produce the corresponding products in good to excellent yields within few minutes, which demonstrate the practicability and environmentally friendliness of the new developed protocol.

Abstract:The combination of a Pd(0) source and a phosphoramidite ligand promotes a formal allylic cross‐coupling between alkylidenecyclopropanes (ACPs) and boronic acids to yield synthetically appealing 1,1‐disubstituted alkenes. Remarkably, the reaction proceeds both under neutral and basic conditions, and works with both aryl‐ and alkenylboronic acids. DFT calculations suggest that the reaction entails a C‐C activation/protonation mechanism instead of a hydropalladation pathway, such as has been proposed for other metal‐promoted hydrofunctionalizations of ACPs.

Abstract:A practical procedure for palladium catalyzed Suzuki cross-coupling reaction of arylboronic acids with aryl halides, including aryl chlorides in molten tetra-n-butylammonium bromide (TBAB) was developed. The reaction exhibits high efficiency and functional group tolerance. The recovery of the catalyst and molten n-Bu4NBr was also investigated.

Abstract:The palladium(II) chloride catalyzed cross-coupling of arylboronic acids with carboxylic anhydrides or acyl chlorides in water in the presence of various surfactants is described. The inexpensive and industrially widely used sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) was found to be a good promoter of the coupling reaction and aryl ketones were obtained in good yields without the use of phosphine ligands. The reactions were unaffected by the presence of electronreleasing and electron-withdrawing substituents in both the arylboronic acids and carboxylic derivatives and a variety of aryl ketones were obtained under mild conditions in air.

Abstract:Efficient palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions of alpha-diazocarbonyl compounds and arylboronic acids or aryl halides have been developed. The reaction proceeds smoothly for a range of diazo compounds, boronic acids, and halides. The coupling reaction conditions tolerate various substituents on the aromatic rings of the substrates, such as chloro, fluoro, acyl, oxo, ester, and nitro groups. This coupling reaction constitutes a novel access to alpha-aryl-substituted alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl compounds. Mechanistically, palladium-carbene is supposed to be the key intermediate; its formation is followed by migratory insertion of an aryl group to the carbenic carbon of the palladium-carbene complex and subsequent beta-hydride elimination. Kinetic isotope effect (KIE) data measured for intra- and intermolecular competition experiments suggest that beta-hydride elimination is not involved in the rate-determining step.

Abstract:The transition metal-catalyzed reactions of organometallics with organic halides have been extensively studied to prove a new approach to selective formation of carbon-carbon bonds. Recently, such coupling reactions of haloarenes with aryl magnesium1–3 and zinc4 compounds in the presence of palladium or nickel complexes have been reported for the synthesis of biaryls. Davidson and Triggs5 have previously reported that arylboronic acids react with sodium palladate to give the corresponding biaryls in good yields. The synthetic utility of the dimerization reaction is, however, limited because it requires stoichiometric amounts of the palladium compound. On the other hand, we have recently reported that cross-coupling reactions between alkenylboranes and organic halides such as alkenyl,6 alkynyl,6 aryl,7 allyl,8 and benzyl8 halides are effectively catalyzed by a catalytic amount of tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium, Pd(PPh3)4 in the presence of suitable bases as indicated in Scheme 1. Although the detailed mechanistic pathway is not clear at present, the reaction should involve a transmetallation step from alkenylboranes to alkenylpalladiums.

Abstract:Alkyl chromium(0) carbene complexes have been explored as the cross-coupling partners in the palladium-catalyzed reaction with aryl or alkenyl boronic acids. This coupling reaction displays the versatile reactivities of alkyl chromium(0) carbenes under palladium catalysis. Mechanistically, this transformation is proposed to involve deprotonation of the alkyl chromium carbene substrate to generate a vinyl chromium anion intermediate that undergoes transmetalation to organopalladium species and reductive elimination.
