Abstract:To promote sustainable development of the hospital,Peking University Cancer Hospital adopted a series of measures to help advance the health professionals,which include a favorable recruiting and training systemsto attract high-level talents,recruit qualified graduates,supporting outstanding young asholars to studying abroad,etc.. These measures have achieved remarkable results,and have in turn greatly promoted the continuous development of medical practice and scientific research work of the hospital.
Hospital Infection of Inpatients:An Analysis

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To give supervision to key departments, and better control the infected germs in order to take more effective measures to prevent infection occurrence in the hospital. METHODS An analysis was made on the basis of the survey involving the following two periods - the first period covered the second half of the year 2000 (from July 1,2000 to Dec 31,2000), and the second period covered the second half of the year 2002 (from July 1,2002 to Dec 31,2002). RESULTS The rates of the infected patients in the departments of respiration, tumor, blood, digestion were high and showed an increasing trend. The infection rate in the department of respiration was especially high-ascended from 3.99% in 2000 to 12.37% in 2002. The infection rate in the departments of neurology,surgery,cardiology showed a tend to decline. CONCLUSIONS The medical employees should receive better training of infection prevention; the modern medical treatment approaches and antibiotics be applied in a scientific and reasonable way; unnecessary invasive operation should be reduced.

Abstract:Objective To find out problems in infection management of the clean operation room and propose effective measures for improvement through the analysis of the inspection results of the clean operation department of the affiliate hospitals from 2008 to 2011.Methods Retrospective analysis of inspection data of the clean operation department from 2008 to 2011 is done to find out the improvement in infection management of the clean operation department of the affiliated hospitals,and to discuss control strategy of hospital infection management.Results Through the inspection,further improvement of infection management of the clean operation department of the affiliated hospitals is promoted.Conclusion Problems found in the inspection have not influenced the cleaness level of the operation room,but potential safety problems exist.Quality inspection of operation room infection management should be paid more attention,management system be established and control measures be implemented to prevent operation-related infection.
Analysis of Qualification of Nurses Hired by a Tertiary Hospital in Beijing

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the qualification of nurses and the effect ofrecruitment so as to improve therecruitment and training of nurses. Methods The qualification of nurses recruited from 2011 to 2013 were evaluated by head nurses and nursing teachers of each department through questionnaires. Results The comprehensive qualification of nurses recruited in recent years was high and overall satisfaction reached 80%. The score of basic individual quality was the highest (average score of each item>3.50). Scores of theoretical knowledge and working ability were also high, whereas scores of research ability (3.17±0.70) and nursing management (3.14±0.56) were lowest. Differences of scores of theoretical knowledge, working ability and developing potential between undergraduatesand junior college students were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion A comprehensive assessment of candidates should be made in recruitment and more attention should be attached to career management and training of nurses. A good assessment mechanism should be established to improve nurses' comprehensive quality and to ensure the sustainable development of nursing talents.

Abstract:Objective To compare the models of receiving overseas exchange students for shortterm clinical rotation in China and other countries,exam Peking University Health Science Center (PUHSC)'s program for receiving oversea exchange students for short-term clinical rotation by using international experiences as a reference,and put forward improving approaches.Methods The data is collected through examination of work-related documents and interview of relevant people;the data is then used to compare the similarities and differences between the models of receiving exchange students for short term clinical rotation in PUHSC and its 22 oversea partner universities.Results PUHSC's program for receiving oversea exchange students for short-term clinical rotation made a good achievement overall,but there are still issues related to program scale,teaching arrangement,application process,program administration,evaluation and accreditation,accommodation arrangement,health and safety etc.PUHSC can learn from international experiences and improve the program through strategies such as set up clinical rotation blocks or terms,clarify application requirements and regulations,establish online application system,include exchange students in the university's students and staffs administration system,improve evaluation and accreditation system,provide more humanistic care,request and exam immunization and health insurance documents so as to strengthen safety management.Conclusions Receiving oversea exchange students for short-term clinical rotation is an important component of medical education internationalization,PUHSC can improve the quality and scale of the program by referencing international experiences.

Abstract:Objective To describe the status of unplanned readmission within 31 days after the first discharge of one general third-level grade A hospital in Beijing,and analyze its influencing factors.Methods The descriptive analysis of the patients readmitted within 31 days after being discharged in the same hospital during 2008,the t test,monovariable chi-square test,and then non-condition Logistic regression analysis of the markedly different factors in SPSSl0.0 are conducted.Results The major risk factors might be sex,age,time interval between the first discharge and readmission,disease status when admitted in index hospitalization and if the disease in index hospitalization has been cured.Conclusions The patient's characters and the hospital's related influencing factors will affect the unplanned readmission.The management of medical quality of inpatients should be reinforced to prevent the readmission.
Impact of WeChat Public Number-Based Training of Interns on Prevention and Control of Nosocomial Infections

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To observe the tangible impact of WeChat public number-based training of interns on pre-vention and control of nosocomial infections so as to provide the theoretical basis for construction of scientific ,rea-sonable and localized training mode of foreign-related nursing talents .METHODS A total of 102 nursing interns who had their internships in a three-A hospital of Zhengzhou from Feb 2014 to Apr 2016 were recruited as the study objects and divided into two groups ;51 nursing interns who received conventional internship training were assigned as the control group ,and the rest of 51 nursing interns who received WeChat public number-assisted training were set as the experimental group .The nursing interns were evaluated based on 4 aspects ,including the actual operation performance ,professional degree of diagnosis and treatment ,accuracy of diagnosis of diseases and mastery degree of disinfection procedures ,and they were finally assessed at the end of their internships .The awareness rate and implementation rate of related measures for control of infections were compared between the two groups of interns ;the nosocomial infection health indexes such as qualified rate of use of instruments ,quali-fied rate of hand hygiene ,degree of air cleanliness and qualified rate of disinfection were observed and compared between the two groups during the internship .RESULTS The scores of actual operations ,professional degree of di-agnosis and treatment ,accuracy of diagnosis and nursing and disinfection operation were higher in the experimen-tal group than in the control group during the training .In regard to the final assessment ,the score of the interns was (57 .15 ± 13 .54) points in the experimental group ,(44 .87 ± 11 .35) points in the control group ,and there was significant difference between the two groups (P < 0 .05) .The qualified rates of use of instruments ,hand hygiene , air cleaning and disinfection of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group ,and there were significant differences between the two groups (P < 0 .05) .The result of self-designed questionnaire survey showed that the mastery degree of basic information of nosocomial infection and awareness rate of infection control meas -ures were higher in the experimental group than in the control group after the training ,and there were significant differences (P < 0 .05) .CONCLUSION WeChat public number-based training may effectively raise the interns'cog-nition about infection-related knowledge and improve the compliance of prevention and control measures so as to reduce the risk of infections ,and the training has achieve remarkable effect .As a scientific ,reasonable and local-ized training mode of foreign-related nursing talents ,WeChat public number-based training is worthy to be promo-ted in hospitals .

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical internship status quo of eight-year medical program students in gynecology and obstetrics department of Peking University Third Hospital,and to give further targeted suggestions.Methods Questionnaire survey was used in this study.The clinical internship status quo of 35 eight-year medical program students in gynecology and obstetrics department of Peking University Third Hospital were surveyed by self-compiled questionnaires,and the related data was analyzed.Results There were 57.1％ (20/35) of students believe that there were difficulties during the internship,and the major difficulties were complicated and trivial knowledge points,relatively short time to learn regulated content,too theoretical professional knowledge to understand and patients' refusal attitude to clinical training.There were 85.7％ (30/35) of the students were willing to preview,and 94.3％ (33/35) of them were willing to review,the textbooks or recommended reading materials were students' favorite forms of preview and review.Conclusions There are still some difficulties during the internship in gynecology and obstetrics department for eight-year clinical program students,and most of them have high acceptance of acquiring knowledge in extracurricular time.In the future,we can adopt more flexible internship modules,add online courses besides and appropriately adopt simulation tools.A sequential curriculum system should be established by reasonably utilizing the extracurricular time,in order to improve the overall outcome of clinical internship in gynecology and obstetrics department.

Abstract:Objective: To survey and evaluate the conception of the nosocomial infection control among the graduate students in our hospital. Methods: We collected some information from the graduate students before time limit, which included some information about nosocomial infection control. Results: The most of them considered that nosocomial infection control was highly close related with medical quality and medical safety, and had certain conception about nosocomial infection, injury, hand hygiene. Howere, they did not know about some regulations and antibiotics. Conclusions: They should be trained and improved their knowledge about nosocomial infection control, especially, about some regulations and the reasonable uses of antibiotics.
Surveillance on Nosocomial Infection of SICU Inpatients in a Third-Grade Class A Hospital in Beijing

Abstract:OBJECTIVE To understand the situation of the nosocomial infection among the hospital inpatients in a grade-A hospital in Beijing.METHODS Surveillance on nosocomial infection was performed among the hospital inpatients from Jan 2005 to Dec 2007.RESULTS From Sept 2006 to Aug 2007,803 cases were infected,the incidence was 1.99%.The lower respiratory tract ranked the first place(38.97%)and the highest infected rate was in ICU(16.16%).The species were predominated by Gram-negatives.The main pathogenic microorganisms were Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Staphylococcus aureus,Escherichia coli,Acinetobacter baumannii,Klebsiella pneumoniae and Candida albicans,etc.From 2005 to 2007,the infections caused by P.aeruginosa increased gradually,and the infections caused by C.albicans reduced gradually.CONCLUSIONS Many people should work to prevent and control the infections in hospital,such as doctors,nurses,inpatients,management workers,etc.

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the current situation of research capacity and the related integrity knowledge in medical graduates.Methods:From July to August 2019, 151 medical graduates from Peking University Third Hospital were investigated by using the research ability scale and the research integrity knowledge questionnaire.Results:According to the standardized score of the hundred mark system, the total score of research capacity scale was [88(72, 95)] and research integrity knowledge questionnaire was [84(77, 88)]. The scores of "statistical knowledge" and "research misconduct" were low[67(50, 100), 81(77, 88)].Conclusions:The research capacity and the realted integrity knowledge in medical graduates were fairly good. It is necessary to strengthen the training of "statistical knowledge" and the role of "practice" ; improve the understanding of "Research misconduct" and create a good environment of research with cooperation of tutors, academic training and social support.

Abstract:Objective:To analyze the challenges of scientific and technological achievements transformation in university-affiliated hospitals, and to provide suggestions.Methods:In-depth interviews were conducted with the management personnel and scientific research teams related to the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in six affiliated hospitals of Peking University from May 2019 to October 2020. Combined with the institutional documents and transformation project information of each hospital, thematic framework was used for data analysis.Results:Scientific research strength and policy guidance were the advantages of the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the affiliated hospitals; while challenges still exists, such as lack of a holistic management system, inadequate incentive mechanism, lack of professional service institutions and teams, etc.Conclusion:The transformation of scientific and technological achievements should be carried out based on the characteristics university-affiliated hospitals by further enhancing systems and incentive mechanisms, taking technological achievements as performance indicators, and establishing a professional service organization and team to be engaged in the whole process of achievements transformation.

Abstract:Objective: To explore and analyze the status quo of the infection management of inpatient department in infectious diseases hospital,and work out corresponding countermeasures.Methods: Investigation and Statistics were performed on patients in Beijing 302 hospital on the basis of Hospital Infection Diagnosis Standard issued by the Ministry of Health,with an emphasis on a retrospective statistical analysis on the infection rate and infection site of the inpatients from 2009 to 2011.Results: The hospital infection rate from 2009 to 2011 were 3.07%,2.94% and 3.05% respectively and the major infectious sites were respiratory tract and abdominal.Conclusion: The existing and potential hospital infection sources were effectively cut off and the risk of patients getting nonsocomial infection greatly reduced through the strengthening of hospital infection management,supervision and control in infectious diseases hospital.

Abstract:This article studies the status quo of relationship between doctors and patients among medical students of two grades in Peking University and influencing factors.It can be inferred that the students believe that the doctor-patient relationship is much more severe,and the most important influencing factor is the social factor.At the same time,the status quo of the relationship has made negative effect on the students.Certain countermeasures are also raised in the process of the training,such as establishing humanistic concept,enhancing the general quality of teaching,and the correct orientation of mass media,aiming to make the students develop a harmonious relationship with patients in their future medical career.

Abstract:Objective To understand the current situation of hospital infection management in some hospitals in China and explore its development tendency. Methods Surveys were made by means of questionnaires on hospital infection management in 16 hospitals of various tiers in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou and the results were compared with those of the two nation-wide surveys conducted respectively in 1994 and 1999. At the same time a dynamic assessment was made of hand hygiene implementation. Results The infection management systems in large and medium-sized hospitals in China were becoming increasingly perfect and a fairly high level was reached in function construction, team structure and expertise of hospital infection management departments. However, there were still many problems. 60% of medical staff washed their hands after patient-contact while only 35% did so before patient-contact and after item contact. Conclusion Hospital infection management in China has reached an important stage of accelerated development with substantial accumulation and more solid foundation. However, as far as development tendency is concerned, we should introduce technical indexes for quality control, put more emphasis on process-evaluation rather than result-evaluation in quality control management, stress the guiding role of evidence-based medicine in hospital management and promote a benign interaction between the hospital infection management and medical treatment process.

Abstract:To improve teaching level of infectious disease, the examination paper of infectious disease from eight-year program medical students in Peking University People' s Hospital was retrospectively analyzed.The result showed that the students had well-knit professional basic knowledge, good clinical thinking ability, but some students ignored infectious disease learning. Therefore, students should be educated to be interested in infectious disease, at the same time new-emerged infections disease and bilingual teaching should be strengthened.

Abstract:Objective To investigate and analyze the status quo of the patients of extended stay at 11 clinical hospitals of a general university in Beijing, and explore the countermeasures and solutions.Methods Contact with the medical affairs departments of these hospitals to collect information about such patients of extended stay.Results A total of 43 cases of patients were identified as extended stay at these hospitals, accounting for 0.00% to 0.93% of total beds.Their stay ranged from 1 month to 15 years, including 17 cases with medical disputes (39.5%), and 26 cases without (60.5%).Conclusions The phenomenon of extended stay at hospitals deserve enough attention and appropriate actions accordingly.

Abstract:Objective To review and analyze the changing trend and characteristics of oversea study in the hospital from 2007 to 2016,and to propose the improvement measures of oversea study.Methods With the methods of Dynamic series,absolute logarithm and relative number,analyzing the number,gender,age,education and title,etc.Results The proportion of male and female students abroad is similar.31 to 35 years old staff (37.19％),doctoral degree staff (87.60％),vice-high-level professors (47.93％),physician positions (85.95％),based on the unit (95.04％),sending the country to the United States (76.03％),and sending time to 7～ 12 months (71.90％) are the largest proportion.Charateristic index increase rate of personnel studying abroad appears different trend.Conclusion The hospital will strengthen the management of overseas study through expanding the channel of sponsored,encouraging pharmacists,nurses and technicians to study abroad,scientifically selecting personnels and improving elaboration management,etc.

Abstract:Objective To introduce the new model and management experience of receiving overseas exchange students for short-term clinical clerkship, evaluate the effect of this clerkship on students’ personal growth and career development, find out the existing problems in this program and put forward improving approaches. Methods The data is collected through examination of work-related documents, questionnaires and interviews; the data is then analyzed by using Nvivo10 and SPSS18 software. Results PUHSC adopted the supervision and students volunteer assistance system for receiving overseas exchange students to do clinical clerkships, which solves the problem of language barrier, study guidance, daily life challenge etc quite well. The visiting students are general happy with the program, and think it plays a positive role in areas such as developing their global view and guiding students’ personal growth etc. However, there are still some problems in the program management. Conclusions Receiving oversea exchange students for short-term clinical clerkship in China is an important part of the internationalization of medical education. It is worthy to exam the program, and take effective measures to address the existing issues in order to keep the sustainable development of this program. The improving measures may include: setting up a database of exchange students, long-term funding support, establishing strict applying procedure and management system, providing effective support etc.
