Abstract:Education idea plays an important institutional role,but the elites play important roles in education institutional formation and its changes.The elites pass the education to spreads,set up notionally,and acquire social people responses,according to main current education ideas,pushing the construction activity of the education institutional arrangements.In education institutional arrangements of the construction process,exist different types of changing paths: change from the latent opportunity of an education institution for causing improvements of the efficiency;be competed by exterior pressures;the causable education institution changes due to the thought idea inside with target self-contradiction;the causable education institution changes due to ultimate end value in mankind in institutional result violation.

Abstract:University name is an emblem of a university,a kind of symbol of a university as well.The name changing of the higher institution is related with many aspects including the location,subject construction,district arrangement of the institution,etc.This is also related with the history and resource of many universities,the using of the cherishing name,etc.Influenced by Chinese expression,the resonant name of university often has 4 characters.It should have certain conditions for the higher normal universities to change their names.We consider that the name changing of the higher institution should obey some principles to make the fitness between the name and facts,the stable and sustainable of the name,respecting the history and reality of the university,disusing the names of modern people as university names.

Abstract:Applying Chinese higher education since 1949 as a case,the authors uncovered the two pairs of dominating factors,namely expansion and equity,government regulations and university autonomy that shaped the formation of Chinese higher education.The authors found that higher education expansion does not necessarily lead to equity.Neither would market system doom to bring about university autonomy.A state monopoly market might produce institutional inequity within a system as a redistributive system does,and may result in negative effects on university autonomy.

Abstract:From the very beginning of Modern Chinese higher learning, there had been two systems, one was state own and the other was private own. During the evolution of private institution of higher learning, the government kept exploring, adjusting and perfecting its policy. By doing so, it hoped to give necessary macroscopcial encouragement and support, as well as to control and supervise the quality scope of those private institutions. During the 60 years before the foundation of the P.R.China., the private institutions not only cultivated and provided a large number of talents for the independence and revival of our nation, but also accumulated precious experience for the development of Chinese higher education.

Abstract:From the perspective of neoinstitutionalism, higher vocational education has become an emerging institution in Chinese society. Its development over three decades entails a trend of institutionalization of higher vocational education. In such a process, higher vocational education is gaining legitimacy and experiencing isomorphic changes. Various challenges have indicated an absence of institutional legitimacy at all levels of higher vocational education, namely regulative, normative, and cultural-cognitive legitimacy. The latter two are considered key for the ongoing process of institutionalizing higher vocational education. Moreover, the emergence and development of higher vocational education in China has indicated isomorphic changes in Chinese higher education in terms of non-university sectors, practical/skills learning, teachers with dual qualifications and graduate employment.

Abstract:The reform and success of China’s higher education since 1978 has attracted much attention in recent years. This article attempts to understand the nature of this reform from the perspective of de-Sovietization, outside the mainstream neoliberal and internationalization narratives. In the 1950s, China’s higher education was completely reformed by the Soviet Model with features of separating teaching and research, excessive specialization in undergraduate education, and high centralization. Moreover, Chinese institutions were increasingly disconnected from the international academic community. During the 1980s and 1990s, China started de-Sovietization reform and took measures to strengthen general education, develop comprehensive universities, integrate teaching and scientific research, and expand the autonomy of colleges and universities. De-Sovietization reform was also a process of relearning from Western countries, of which learning from the American experience was prominent. In this process, Chinese universities resumed ties with the international academic community. De-Sovietization reform has left an important impact on the development of contemporary universities in China.

Abstract:The reform to have the socialist market economy as the selected fundamental economic system of resource allocation has lead to qualitative change in the institutional environment of China's higher education which influences its resource allocation mechanisms. In this paper institutional environment is used as an exogenous variable in the analytical framework to examine the relationship between the change in higher education resource allocation and its institutional environment, as well as the characteristic of higher education resource allocation patterns under different circumstances. The major argument of the paper is: augmentation of resources is no longer possible in the planned economy framework, which has to be achieved via institutional innovation in the market environment.

Abstract:Government, university, and market are not only mutually supportive but also ‘competing’ with each other, which is best exemplified in high education funding and resource allocation. Based on a systematic review of the literature on funding and resource allocation in higher education in developed countries, we have captured three patterns. First, universities in developed countries seem to have stopped fully relying on government funding and started to face the market competition and become more market-oriented, which not only increases the students' financial responsibilities, but also redefines the purpose of higher education. Second, performance-based funding system has been widely adopted to mediate the tension between university autonomy and accountability, however, due to complex factors, the system is inherently fraught with a number of limitations. Third, as part of the approach to the new round of international competition, developed countries have taken measures such as internationalization of universities, reinforcement of philanthropic endowment, and innovation of funding system which is more oriented toward the demand side (student).

Abstract:This study examines the context and social construction where the evaluation of Chinese universities has been established.It argues that the establishment of university evaluation in China is resulted of the rapid expansion of China's higher education,and embodied of a diversified system inclu-ding evaluation in the aspects of university research,teaching,disciplines and educational programs.It further illustrates that the indicators cited by the university evaluation,however,is decontextualized and fragmented.Strategies of improvement are brought in the end part of the article,for the reference of both the government and peer academicians for a better practice of the"Double First-Class"Con-struction.

Abstract:Neo-institutional theory is applied to analyze the isomorphism in Chinese business school in this paper.It argues that the Chinese higher business education has reached a stage of institutional isomorphism from competitive isomorphism.All three process of isomorphism(coercive,mimetic and normative) shape the organization field of Chinese higher business education.The field is primarily motivated by mimetic isomorphism at the present time.But in the future,coercive isomorphism will increase,mimetic isomorphism will reduce and normative isomorphism will increase to dominate the field.As the isomorphism in Chinese business school increase,it will reach a threshold and the business schools will seek their own characteristics and differentiate themselves.

Abstract:As the important factor promoting a balance between the supply and demand of educational resources in terms of the total volume and structure,the market is the condition for an effective allocation of educational resources. In the market of a monopoly on education,it is very difficult for the educational output to enter the economic system,leading to a low efficiency in the internal self-organization of the education system; lacking an incentive mechanism of internal organization,the whole education system is unable to supply educational resources effectively. The emergence of a buyer's market for higher education will continuously promote the innovation in the education system. Only when the education system makes a consistent reform of its content and method under the influence of the outside social economic system can it acquire material conditions for its development in the process of adjusting itself to the social economic system and be in a favorable position in the international competitions. Under the condition of market economy,the principal orientation of resource allocation for higher education is determined by its attribute of being one of private products. However,governmental intervention is also needed to rectify market failures.

Abstract:The problem of equity and efficiency is one of the important problems in the development of higher education in many countries. It is generally thought that equity and efficiency can be integrated theoretically and macrocosmically, and can keep harmonious and maintaining development. However, they are usually contradictory microcosmically and practically, and seem to be a problem in dilemma that cannot be reconciled. The equity and efficiency of provincial higher education in China is a typical and concrete problem to which we should pay more attention at present. In this paper, through making some statistical and correlation analysis of the indexes in 1990 and 2000, which reflect the development condition of higher education, and economy in China, we review the development and change features of the equity and efficiency of area higher education in 1990s in China , and make a demonstrational analysis and evaluation of the equity and efficiency of higher education in China from 1990 to 2000 by revealing the quantitative relation between them, then propose some relevant countermeas-ures and suggestion to the further development of higher education in China in the future.

Abstract:The spectacular economic growth in China during the past four decades has inspired a great deal of research to understand China's unconventional growth path. This review focuses on recent developments in China's institutions, financial markets, innovations, and government–business relations in the context of their roles in supporting China's growth. The government's role in finance and the economy has advantages and disadvantages in comparison to developed markets in the West. Alternative financing channels and governance mechanisms, rather than markets and banks, continue to promote growth in the most dynamic sectors of the economy, despite the fact that China has passed the early-development stage. More research is needed to understand the Chinese experience and determine whether similar mechanisms are behind the growth of other economies.

Abstract:Two parallel and discrete sectors seem to be emerging in Chinese higher education, both extending to university level. One is academic and “cosmopolitan” in outlook, and supports intensive research. The other is local, and teaching and service oriented. While such a binary approach helps diversify the interpretation of higher education quality and contributes to its relevance, it remains to be tested if China’s tradition of meritocracy and elitism could ultimately drive changes back in the academic direction.

Abstract:Contemporary universities are characteristic of an evident proliferation of corporate discourse. A sole concentration on the production of new knowledge and the education of students does not ensure the prosperity or even survival of universities any longer, and equally important are the admission of elite students, the outcome-based evaluation of academic performance, the establishment of alumni network and also fundraising. This article examines how and to what extent this trend of marketization has invaded the order of discourse of Chinese universities. The research methodology combines the paradigms of critical discourse analysis (CDA) and the tenets of critical genre analysis [Bhatia VK (2007) Towards critical genre analysis. In: Bhatia VK, Flowerdew J and Jones RH (eds) Advances in Discourse Studies. London: Routledge, pp. 166–177], with particular attention paid to the notion of genre, interdiscursivity and conversationalization. The texts examined include ceremonial speeches, regulatory documents, insiders’ accounts and field notes. Analytical results show that the trend of marketization, in spite of a potential threat for academic integrity, does facilitate the institutional restructuring and transformation of universities in the context of Mainland China.

Abstract:Giving a commentary introduction to the old institutional analysis and the new one, the author argues that neoinstitutionalism not only broadens and deepens the understanding of the conception of institution, but also enriches the analyzing model of the old one, by adding a new organizational level, thus forming the normative-organizational-institutional model. This, according to the author, helps to break the border limits of the old institutional analysis , but also helps to establish the theoretical relativity of the neoinstitutionalism to the social reality , which Chinese education system is under radical institutional change.
