Abstract:A nested-loop PLL for pico-satellite is analyzing in this paper.A model is setup to calculate the tracking time.It is found that there is a best filter bandwidth to make the tracking time optimized.The simulation results are very close with the experimental results.

Abstract:A model of the nested phase locked loop (PLL),which is the most important component in the TT&C transponder,is established based on the modern charge-pump PLL.The lock time and phase noise characteristics are simulated,and the results are comparable with the test results of real circuit.The results indicate that there is a best loop bandwidth to make the lock time smallest.And the noise of the nested PLL is better than that of single PLL.This model can be used to optimize the performance of TT&C transponder.
The High-Precisiontime System Design of Pico-Satellite Based on GPS Receiver

Abstract:High-precision system time is usually required in many missions of pico-satellite. Traditional solution of timing system based on real-time clock(RTC)chip in pico-satellite cannot meet thisrequirement,therefore GPS re?ceiver(GPSR)is applied in the design of timing system. However,GPSR in pico-satellite cannot work for long time because of the energy limitaiton. Then a design of a timing system based on GPSR which only need to be powered on for a short time has been presented in this paper. An algorithm to calibrate system time for long-term is provided. Experiment shows that the time accuracy is better than 1 ms/d when GPSR works for 1 024 seconds per day. Thisde?sign has been applied in ZDPS-2 satellite,and qualified the mission requirements of 5 ms/d.

Abstract:The traditional receiver requires large volume,complex structure design and high power consumption.These characteristics don't fit the requirement of the Pico-satellite's application.Meanwhile,a low-power receiver structure has already been proposed by our team.But this low-power receiver has low sensitivity and thus can't be used widely.To resolve these problems,a new receiver structure is proposed.This new structure mixes digital frequency synthesizer with traditional PLL.The lock-time,noise behavior and sensitivity of this new structure are analyzed and tested.The result shows that the simulation and the experiment are perfectly matched,and the performance meets the requirement well.This new structure can not only preserve the excellence of traditional receiver,but also can make the loop design much easier with less volume and lower power consumption,which are all critical to Pico-satellite.

Abstract:Due to limited power dissipation and antenna gain of transponders in micro-satellites,the ranging error is quite large.Regenerative pseudo-noise ranging,however,can substantially reduce the noise in the returned ranging signal,thus improve code tracking accuracy.With respect to several newly proposed regenerative PN ranging codes,the mean-square timing error of the chip tracking loop is derived using linear analysis,and simulation and comparison of tracking performance is made for these codes.The practical loop tracking performance is not a monotone function of loop bandwidth due to VCO phase noise,which is different from the theoretical case.Thus,the loop bandwidth settings need to be optimized to obtain the optimal tracking performance.The differences of the practical tracking performance of different ranging codes are less than the theoretical ones.

Abstract:In the inter-satellite ranging system based on pseudorandom code ranging, if delay lock loop (DLL) which is used for code tracking adopts fixed loop parameters, then a compromise must be made between tracking precision and dynamic performance. In order to overcome this shortcoming, this paper proposes a method of adjusting the loop bandwidth adaptively and steadily. The code tracking error, loop carrierto- noise power ratio and dynamic stress are monitored in real time. Then the loop bandwidth is adjusted on the principle of minimizing the code tracking error. In the meanwhile, a series of limiting factors during bandwidth adjustment are taken into full consideration. As a result, the loop responds quickly to burst dynamic stress and ensures stable tracking throughout the bandwidth adjustment process. Finally, the validity of this method is verified by MATLAB simulations. The simulation results show that this method is stable in the case of burst dynamic stress and during bandwidth adjustment process. The need of tracking precision and dynamic performance are both taken into account.

Abstract:A new design of star tracker(ST)is proposed.The STisbased on the using of commercial devices,to matchMicro-satellites' compact size.The STconsists of an industrial lens,a DSP processor,a low power CPLD and a grayscale CMOS sensor.To improve the measurement accuracy,theimaging model of the STis analyzed,andthe optical parameters are compensated by in-field star calibration.The algorithm of star photoprocessing is also analyzed,anda median filter is applied to reduce the effect ofimpulse noise during star point extracting.A ST prototype is tested with field experimentsbased on the earth's rotation and constellation tracking,the results show that the prototype's RMSE(Root Mean Square Error)of Euler angleis 30″.The prototype,whichis in compact size and low power consumption,can be exactly applied to Micro-satellites.
Method of Adaptive PLL Bandwidth Adjustment Without Phase Slipping

Abstract:In a system based on the phase lock loop（PLL）, a trade-off must be made between the tracking precision and the dynamic performance if constant parameters are adopted. To overcome this drawback, a new method called no phase slipping adaptive bandwidth（NPS-AB） is proposed, which can adjust the loop bandwidth adaptively for different working conditions. As a result, both the tracking precision and the dynamic performance can be achieved concurrently. NPS-AB has two features to keep the loop stable: one is the capability of quick response to dynamics; the other is a series of additional constraints when the bandwidth is switched. Compared with other methods, there is no phase slipping during the adjustment process for NPS-AB. The phase integer ambiguity can be avoided and the phase value is kept valid. It is meaningful for carrier ranging systems. Simulation results show that NPS-AB can deal with sudden dynamics and keep the pseudo-range value stable in the entire dynamic process.

Abstract:The basic function of Tracking, Telemetry, and Control (TTC) transponder on pico-satellite is to receive and demodulate remote control instruction from ground station, and to modulate and send telemetry data back to ground station. At present, domestic spaceflight Unite S Band (USB) TTC network and transponder adopts Differential Phase Shift Key (DPSK) modulation, which is implemented by hardware and cannot be used on pico-satellite. Pico-satellite needs small volume, light weight and low power of mini-TTC transponder. Here designs a software DPSK modulator and demodulator for TTC transponder, whose weight is 70 g and power consumption is less 1 W. It satisfies the application requirement and environment of pico-satellite, and will be used in the coming launching pico-satellite.
An Improved Low Phase Noise LC-VCO with Wide Frequency Tuning Range Used in CPPLL

Abstract:Based on TSMC 0.18 mu m CMOS process, a complementary cross-coupled differential LC voltage controlled oscillator (LC-VCO) used in charge pump phase-locked loop (CPPLL) frequency synthesizer for satellite receiver with low phase noise and wide frequency tuning range is designed and implemented. The VCO adopts self-bias structure to remove flicker noise produced by tail current. Programmable LC tanks are introduced at the common source of cross-couple transistors to eliminate second harmonics of resonant frequency. Distributed biasing is applied for a wider linear tuning range. An optimized switch is proposed to lower on-resistance. The measured results show that the VCO exhibits a 53.8% tuning range from 1.02GHz to 1.77GHz. From the carrier frequency of 1.4 GHz, the phase noise of the VCO can reach -131.2 dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset. The core circuit consumes 7.7mA with 1.8V supply voltage.

Abstract:An S-band tracking and control transponder with the weight less than 50g is reported in this work. The transponder employs the unified carrier TT&C (Tracking, Telemetry and control) system of the international standard. Some advanced electronic technologies are used in the transponder to simplify the structure and reduce the weight of the transponder. The receive sensitivity is -80dBm and the output power is 100mW, making it suitable for LEO satellite with the orbit altitude lower than 1000km.

Abstract:To improve the performance of composite pseudo-noise (PN) code clock recovery in a regenerative PN ranging system at a low symbol signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), a novel chip tracking loop (CTL) used for regenerative PN ranging clock recovery is adopted. The CTL is a modified data transition tracking loop (DTTL). The difference between them is that the Q channel output of the CTL is directly multiplied by a clock component, while that of the DTTL is multiplied by the Ⅰ channel transition detector output. Under the condition of a quasi-squareware PN ranging code, the tracking (mean square timing jitter) performance of the CTL is analyzed. The tracking performances of the CTL and the DTTL are compared over a wide range of symbol SNRs. The result shows that the CTL and the DTTL have the same performance at a large symbol SNR, while at a low symbol SNR, the former offers a noticeable enhancement.

Abstract:The traditional data transition tracking loop(DTTL) adopted in pseudo-number(PN) code ranging for clock recovery cannot obtain good performance for time domain rising cosine(TDRC) waveform at small symbol signalto-noise ratio(SNR).A novel chip tracking loop(CTL) was designed for PN clock recovery.The detection gain of the CTL was bigger than that of the DTTL,so the former's capture and tracking performance was better than the latter.And the clock tracking performance of the CTL was independent of the symbol SNR.The mean square timing jitter performance of the CTL and the DTTL for TDRC waveform PN code was analyzed and compared over a wide range of symbol SNR.Analysis indicates that the same performance can be obtained for the DTTL and the CTL at large symbol SNR,while in small symbol SNR environment the performance of the CTL is better than that of the DTTL.In the condition of small symbol SNR,higher ranging precision can be obtained for the CTL TTC(tracking,telemetry and control) transponder.
Algorithm of Three Order Satellite Navigation Carrier PLL Loop Aided by INS

Abstract:Carrier tracking is a key technology in satellite navigation receiver. In the high dynamic conditions, the satellite navigation receivers traditionally use three- order phase lock loop(PLL) to track the received navigation signal. However,in some application conditions when the jerk is larger than 50g / s,the PLL will exceed the allowa- ble tolerance and cause for the PLL loss of lock. In this paper,an algorithm of INS aided three- order PLL was put forward. The PLL bandwidth and the steady- state error before and after INS aiding were analyzed. The INS- aided PLL phase tracking error with the loop bandwidth and carrier- noise- ratio was studied. The results show that the new tracking loop can not only work reliably in high dynamic conditions,but also largely reduce the noise bandwidth and promote the anti- jamming ability.

Abstract:Satellite laser communication involves communications between GEO satellites and LEO satellites. The optical link can be built by the accurate pointing and tracking, which often employs the combination effect of coarse pointing assembly and fine pointing assembly. In order to achieve this goal with ratable wedged-plate lenses, the mathematic model of transfer function of control loop is obtained by analyzing the total control loop for such complex axis. One can also get the optimized programs between coarse and fine pointing assembly.

Abstract:With The structural design of the INS-aided (Inertial Navigation System-aided) receiver tracking loops is the main part of implementing an SINS(Strapdown Inertial Navigation System)/GPS Ultra-Tightly Coupled Integrated Navigation System, and the loop bandwidth is the key factor to determine the performance of the tracking loop. Considering satellite signals are easy to be out of locking in high dynamic environment, the INS Velocity Information receiver tracking loops to increase the effective bandwidth of tracking loop is designed in this paper. The Simulation results show that inter-restricted relationship between the thermal agitation noise error and the dynamic stress error in the carrier tracking loop.

Abstract:To deal with the synchronization issue of a repetitive controlled active power filter(APF),a novel digital phase locked loop(PLL) strategy with fixed number of sampling points per cycle is present,which based on synchronous rotating frame phase detection(SRFPD) and PI controller.The mathematic model is developed in z-domain and proved to be a second-order one.By using zero-pole-placement method,control parameters are designed.This PLL guarantees the number of sampling points per fundamental period fixed theoretically and consequently meets with the requirement of sampling in repetitive control.Experimental results verify that the proposed PLL has good robustness and fast response even under distorted and/or unbalanced conditions;and corresponding APF bears high compensation precision.

Abstract:Most of the new generation of satellite navigation signals using a pilot channel to improve the tracking capability of the receiver. Without constraints of navigation data bit length, the carrier phase-locked loop (PLL) can prolong easily the Pre-detection integration time (PIT) to improve the anti-jamming ability of the receiver, but the prolongation of the PIT is still subject to the restrictions of the carrier dynamic conditions. In this paper, an algorithm of dual-update rate inertial navigation system (INS) aided carrier PLL was proposed. First, the mathematic model of INS aided carrier PLL was developed with the Kalman filter. Taking into account the high INS update rate and high short-term accuracy, the INS observation information was used to control the frequency of the carrier numerically controlled oscillator (NCO) during the PLL integral period. At the end of one integral period, the output of phase discriminator was used to correct the reproduced carrier phase. The algorithm proposed by this paper can effectively prolong the PLL PIT in high dynamic conditions and improve the anti-jamming ability of the receiver in high dynamic conditions. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm was verified by simulation.
