On the Acculturation and Martial Art of Hui Ethnic Group under the Halo of Intangible Cultural Heritage

Abstract:Martial art of Hui ethnic group is an important component of traditional Chinese Martial arts with strong ethnic color and profound cultural heritage. There are three minority martial arts were incorporated in intangible cultural heritage in China. Their main contents are all closely associated with the Hui ethnic group. This paper makes a systematic analysis to the social cultural background, retention and development status of the formation of martial art of Hui ethnic group from anthropological, historical and sociological angles with the multi-dimensional perspectives via literature, field surveys and other methods. It takes social phenomena and the cultural adaptation as its entry point to explain the development of the Hui martial arts in the long process of evolving with the characteristic of multi-cultural system.
