Analysis and Temporal Extension of a Workflow Meta-Model

Abstract:Temporal Workflow introduced time into workflow as a dimension.Firstly, analyzing a typical workflow meta-model showed that temporal attributes were the popular attributes of elements and relationships in workflow. Then, the denotation of temporal elements and a group of temporal data calculations was defined, and some primary elements in Temporal Workflow were formalized. Finally, an example showed how to build a process model by above results, and how to handle temporal data in workflow. The results show that Temporal Workflow can handle the time validity of roles, data, and invoked applications, together with the efficiency of processes.
