Analysis of and Recommendations for Clean Energy Development in Rural China

Abstract:Starting from the practical significance of developing clean energy in rural areas of China to protect environment and promote rural social and economic sustainable development,we firstly describe the current stage of China's energy consnmption structure and energy production in rural areas and presents an analysis of the problem of unbalanced development of clean energy in China's urban and rural areas in this paper.We then further elaborate the importanc of developing clean energy in rural areas in energy consumption structure adjustment,rational use of energy,emission reduction,improvement for rural living conditions,and promoting the harmonious development of society.Thirdly,we give an introduction to the infrastructure as well as the legal environment of policies and regulations which are related to clean energy development.We also mention some clean energy technologies adapted for different rural areas.We argue that clean energy development in rural areas can be divided into three main modes,namely,self-sufficient distributed mode,large-scale centralized mode and the cycled mode integrated with ecological economy Then we give a thorough comparative analysis of these 3 modes from the perspectives of technical characteristics,geographical features,energy environment,infrastructure,energy nature,and stage of development,investment,service requirements,and innovation etc.Finally,we propose some policy recommendations for issues faced in the current clean energy development in rural areas and point out that it must be based on the current local production and living conditions to select an appropriate mode for developing clean energy in rural areas.
