Abstract:For n ≥ 7, we give the optimal estimate for the second eigenvalue of Paneitz operators for compact n -dimensional submanifolds in an ( n + p )-dimensional space form in terms of the mean curvature and the Q-curvature.

Abstract:Let M be an n-dimensional oriented compact submanifold with parallel mean curvature in the unit sphere $S^{n+p}$. Denote by H and S the mean curvature and the squared length of the second fundamental form of M, respectively. We obtain a classification theorem of M if it satisfies $S+\lambda _2\le \alpha (n,H)$, where $\lambda _{2}$ is the second largest eigenvalue of the fundamental matrix and $\alpha (n,H)$ is defined as in Theorem B.

Abstract:In the present paper, we prove a rigidity theorem for complete submanifolds with parallel Gaussian mean curvature vector in the Euclidean space $${\mathbb {R}}^{n+p}$$ under an integral curvature pinching condition, which is a unified generalization of some rigidity results for self-shrinkers and the $$\lambda $$-hypersurfaces in Euclidean spaces.

Abstract:In this note, we obtain the sharp estimates for the first eigenvalue of Paneitz operator for $4$-dimensional compact submanifolds in Euclidean space. Since unit spheres and projective spaces can be canonically imbedded into Euclidean space, the corresponding estimates for the first eigenvalue are also obtained.

Abstract:We verify that if M is a compact minimal submanifold with boundary in a Cartan–Hadamard manifold N, then $$\sum \nolimits _{i=1}^{k}\lambda _i\ge \frac{2n\pi }{e}k^{\frac{n+2}{n}}{{\,\mathrm{vol}\,}}(M)^{-\frac{2}{n}}$$, where $$\lambda _i$$ is the ith Dirichlet eigenvalue of the Laplacian on M. This provides an evidence for that the generalized Pólya conjecture is true. We also prove that if M is a complete and non-compact minimal submanifold in a Cartan–Hadamard manifold N, then $$\gamma _n N_\alpha (V)\le \int _M(V-\alpha )_{-}^{n/2}(x)dx$$, where $$N_\alpha (V)$$ is the number of eigenvalues($$\le \alpha $$) of the Schrödinger operator $$-\Delta +V$$ on M and $$\gamma _n$$ is an explicit positive constant depending only on n.

Abstract:Under the hypothesis of mean curvature flows of hypersurfaces, we prove that the limit of the smooth rescaling of the singularity is weakly convex. It is a generalization of the result due to G. Huisken and C. Sinestrari in [5]. These a-priori bounds are satisfied for mean convex hypersurfaces in locally symmetric Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative sectional curvature.

Abstract:Recently, Pipoli and Sinestrari [Pipoli, G. and Sinestrari, C., Mean curvature flow of pinched submanifolds of ℝℙ n , Comm. Anal. Geom. , 25 , 2017, 799–846] initiated the study of convergence problem for the mean curvature flow of small codimension in the complex projective space ℝℙ m . The purpose of this paper is to develop the work due to Pipoli and Sinestrari, and verify a new convergence theorem for the mean curvature flow of arbitrary codimension in the complex projective space. Namely, the authors prove that if the initial submanifold in ℝℙ m satisfies a suitable pinching condition, then the mean curvature flow converges to a round point in finite time, or converges to a totally geodesic submanifold as t → ∞. Consequently, they obtain a differentiable sphere theorem for submanifolds in the complex projective space.

Abstract:In this note, we investigate the pinching problem for oriented compact submanifolds of dimension n with parallel normalized mean curvature vector in a space form Fn+p(c). We first prove a codimension reduction theorem for submanifolds under lower Ricci curvature bounds. Moreover, if the submanifolds have constant normalized scalar curvature R≥c, we obtain a classification theorem for submanifolds under lower Ricci curvature bounds. It should be emphasized that our Ricci pinching conditions are sharp for even n and p=2.

Abstract:In this article, we prove pinching theorems for the first eigenvalue $\lambda _1(M)$ of the Laplacian on compact Euclidean hypersurfaces involving the integrals of $k$-th mean curvature. Particularly, we show that under a suitable pinching condition, the hypersurface is starshaped and almost-isometric to a standard sphere. Based on our theorems, we prove some pinching results for the almost-Einstein and almost-umbilical hypersurfaces in Euclidean space.

Abstract:We re-visit the eigenvalue estimate of the Dirac operator on spin manifolds with boundary in terms of the first eigenvalues of conformal Laplace operator as well as the conformal mean curvature operator. These problems were studied earlier by Hijazi–Montiel–Zhang and Raulot and we re-prove them under weaker assumption that a boundary chirality operator exists. Moreover, on these spin manifolds with boundary, we show that any $C^{3,\alpha }$ conformal compactification of some Poincare–Einstein metric must be the standard hemisphere when the first nonzero eigenvalue of the Dirac operator achieves its lowest value, and any $C^{3,\alpha }$ conformal compactification of some Poincare–Einstein metric must be the flat ball in Euclidean space when the first positive eigenvalue of the boundary Dirac operator achieves certain value relating to the second Yamabe invariant. In two cases the Poincare–Einstein metrics are standard hyperbolic metric.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish the curvature estimates for $p$-convex hypersurfaces in $\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ of prescribed curvature with $p\geq \frac{n}{2}$. The existence of a star-shaped hypersurface of prescribed curvature is obtained. We also prove a type of interior $C^2$ estimates for solutions to the Dirichlet problem of the corresponding equation.

Abstract:In this paper, we obtain universal inequalities for eigenvalues of the Dirichlet eigenvalue problem of the Laplacian and the clamped plate problem on a bounded domain in an n-dimensional (n >= 3) noncompact simply connected complete Riemannian manifold with sectional curvature Sec satisfying -K-2 <= Sec <= -k(2), where K >= k >= 0 are constants. When M is H-n (-1) (n >= 3), these inequalities become ones previously found by Cheng and Yang.

Abstract:In this work, we obtain estimates for the upper bound of gaps between consecutive eigenvalues for the eigenvalue problem of a class of second-order elliptic differential operators in divergent form, with Dirichlet boundary conditions, in a limited domain of n-dimensional Euclidean space. This class of operators includes the well-known Laplacian and the square Cheng-Yau operator. For the Laplacian case, our estimate coincides with that obtained by D. Chen, T. Zheng, and H. Yang, which is the best possible in terms of the order of the eigenvalues. For pinched Cartan-Hadamard manifolds the estimates were made in particular cases of this operator.

Abstract:Let x : M --> Sn+1(1) be an n-dimensional compact hypersurface with constant scalar curvature n(n - 1)r, r >= 1, in a unit sphere Sn+1(1), n >= 5, and let J(s) be the Jacobi operator of M. In 2004, L. J. Alias, A. Brasil and L. A. M. Sousa studied the first eigenvalue of J(s) of the hypersurface with constant scalar curvature n(n - 1) in Sn+1(1), n >= 3. In 2008, Q.-M. Cheng studied the first eigenvalue of the Jacobi operator J(s) of the hypersurface with constant scalar curvature n(n - 1)r, r > 1, in Sn+1(1). In this paper, we study the second eigenvalue of the Jacobi operator J(s) of M and give an optimal upper bound for the second eigenvalue of J(s).

Abstract:We study that the n -graph defined by a smooth map f:Ω⊂ℝ^n→ℝ^m, m≥ 2, in ℝ^m+n of the prescribed mean curvature and the Gauss image. Under the condition Δ_f=[det(δ_ij+∑_α∂f^α/∂x^i∂f^α/∂x^j)]^1/2 < 2, we derive the interior curvature estimates sup_D_R(x)|B|^2≤C/R^2 when 2 ≤ n ≤ 5 with constant C depending on the given geometric data. If there is no dimension limitation we obtain sup_D_R(x)|B|^2≤ CR^-asup_D_2R(x)(2-Δ_f)^-(3/2+1/s), s=min(m, n) with a < 1. If the image under the Gauss map is contained in a geodesic ball of the radius √(2)/4π in G n , m we also derive corresponding estimates.
