Abstract:The project management maturity model (PMMM) is used for helping evaluation of management organization and improving the management level of project itself. Project management is very important for project leading enterprises; it gives the right direct of the development of construction enterprises. However, for their particular characters, the managements therein are more complicated and difficulty than ordinary project management. Thus the construction project management maturity evaluations are more important and more challenged. In this paper, we establish the system structure of construction project management maturity model (CPM3) and the idea of applying it according to the knowledge system and its character of construction project management. This will provide scientific theoretical foundations for the everlasting improvements of project management of construction enterprises in China.

Abstract:In recent years, Project Management Maturity Model (PMMM, or PM3) has been attracting more and more attentions in the field of project management, which aims to improve 'process maturity' of a project. However, there are hardly applications or researches of PM3 in construction industries, of which project managements are essential characters. This paper constructs a construction project management maturity model (CPM3) according to the principles of generic PM3 and processes of general construction project. The five maturity levels of CPM3 and the structure of it are presented. Besides these, assessment and improvement methods of construction project management maturity are also discussed. An empirical study based on questionnaires is also processed while assessment analyzing. Implementation of CPM3 and some relevant topics are also discussed.

Abstract:For many years, project management maturity models (PMMM) derived from the software industry have brought immeasurable benefits. However, the adoption and investigation of PMMM in the construction field have been weak and insufficient, particularly in construction consulting services (CCS). Moreover, professionals have gradually realized the importance of non-process factors (e.g., teamwork, culture, leadership) in the evaluation of PMMM. This study describes the construction of PMMM for CCS that considers non-process factors and combines them with CCS-specific process factors. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed model, we conduct a case study on the overall project management consultancy for China’s 2010 Winter Expo. The results would fill in the PMMM research gap in CCS and provide practitioners with ideas to improve their performance.

Abstract:In order to measure the competence of enterprises in executing construction standards,a capability maturity model of enterprise executing construction standards was established based on process management.Aiming at management and consulting,design,construction and other work aspects of enterprises,a nationwide questionnaire survey and appraisal was conducted.This model can be used not only for the entire industry,but also for any individual enterprise.According to the appraisal results,the main problems that affect the enhancement of enterprise maturity can be identified,and guidance provided to promote enterprise competitiveness.

Abstract:As the profits of manufacturing enterprises come under ever increasing pressure, the transformation of the enterprise development mode becomes urgent. The implementation of modern manufacturing services (MMS) helps to improve an enterprise's profits and enhance its competitiveness and has become one of the best ways to transform and upgrade enterprises. The implementation of MMS needs a methodology to guide evaluation of an enterprise's current service development phase and level. In this article, first a universal Enterprise Manufacturing Service Maturity Model (EMSMM) was proposed, which contains four service phases and two service levels. Second, a building methodology for the EMSMM for a specific industry was put forward. Third, an evaluation methodology for enterprise MMS phases and levels was provided. Finally, the adoption of these methods by a Chinese manufacturing enterprise was described. The results show that the EMSMM can provide effective scientific decision-making for an enterprise's current service development phase and level.

Abstract:Supplier relationship management is the key to enhance the market competitiveness of construction enterprises, and how to assess the relationships between the two sides needs to be solved by the construction enterprises immediately. Based on summarizing and analyzing the relevant literatures, this paper introduces the Capability Maturity Model Integration theory (CMMI), divides the relationships between the construction enterprises and the suppliers into four levels, and establishes an evaluation index system, which constitutes the CMMI-based relationship evaluation model. Finally, this paper selects the PROMETHEE method to assess the relationships between them, and points out the existing problems, which effectively ensure continuous improvement of their relationships and improve the enterprise competitiveness. © 2010 IEEE.

Abstract:In the new era of Construction 4.0, the application of a large number of intelligent information technologies (ITs) and advanced managerial approaches have brought about the rapid development of intelligent construction management (ICM). However, it is still unclear how to assess the maturity of ICM. In this study, a maturity assessment system for ICM was formulated through literature reviews, questionnaires, expert discussions and a case study. A maturity scoring table containing five assessment dimensions and twenty assessment indicators was developed, and corresponding maturity levels and a radar chart of dimensions were designed. A case study of the assessments of two construction enterprises was conducted to validate that the proposed assessment system could be used by construction enterprises to quantitatively assess their ICM maturities and obtain both overall and specific assessment results. This study also proposed practical improvement methods to improve ICM maturities for construction enterprises with different maturity levels. Furthermore, the study also discussed the development direction of ICM at present and in the short-term future, which should be paid more attention to by the construction industry.
