Abstract:The idea of fermion mass generation through Yukawa couplings between Higgs bosons and fermions may be tested by their associated production at future linear colliders (LC). We study the production mechanism in the minimal supersymmetric standard model at photon colliders that can be realized by the laser back-scattering technique at a LC. We find that the cross sections for the production of the light Higgs-boson-top-quark pair, heavy-Higgs-boson-bottom pair and pseudoscalar Higgs-boson-bottom pair can reach the level of similar to 1.0 fb or higher for phenomenologically favored values of the parameters in the Higgs sector. Since this mechanism is not affected by the appearance of Higgs resonances as in electron collisions, it may provide a more sensitive way to determine the Yukawa couplings between Higgs bosons and heavy quarks.

Abstract:We have investigated the signal for physics beyond the Standard Model via Higgs plus photon final state, hitherto unobserved at the LHC, in the framework of Standard Model Effective Field Theory. Using the relevant dimension-6 operators, we probe two distinct classes of interactions, based on the Lorentz structure of Higgs couplings to gauge bosons and fermions. To begin with, constraints on the Wilson coefficients of these operators have been derived from existing experimental data. We then focus on the hadronic decay of the Higgs boson to two bottom quarks in the boosted regime, leading to a high $p_T$ fat-jet recoiling against a hard photon. Following a CMS Run II search for a resonance decaying into a Higgs boson and a photon, a detailed signal and background analysis for this channel has been done and limits on the relevant Wilson coefficients have been obtained. By performing a cut-based analysis, we identify some kinematic observables that distinguish between signal and SM background. Minimum values of the Wilson coefficients that will yield $3\sigma$ signal significance at the 14 TeV run of the LHC with $3000 ~\rm fb^{-1}$ data, have been obtained. A multivariate analysis using a boosted decision tree and exploiting the jet substructure techniques further help to isolate the regions of phase space where the contribution of SMEFT driven signal is significantly enhanced. Finally, we briefly discuss the parameter dependencies and interpretations of the allowed values of the coefficients on a particularly interesting UV complete model namely, Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model.

Abstract:In a model-independent way, we explore the potential of photon-induced interactions with the process $\gamma^* \gamma^* \rightarrow ZZ$ to investigate CP-conserving and CP-violating dimension-six operators of Higgs-gauge boson couplings using the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). The existence of anomalous $H\gamma\gamma$ and $HZZ$ couplings is discussed at 3 TeV Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) and 10 TeV Muon Collider (MuC) with integrated luminosities of 5 and 10 ab$^{-1}$, respectively. All signal and relevant background events are generated in MadGraph and passed through PYTHIA for parton showering and hadronization. The detector effects are evaluated using CLIC and MuC detector cards tuned in Delphes. We report the 95% confidence level limits on the Wilson coefficients $\overline{c}_\gamma$, $\overline{c}_{HB}$, $\overline{c}_{HW}$, $\widetilde{c}_\gamma$, $\widetilde{c}_{HB}$, and $\widetilde{c}_{HW}$ and compare them with the experimental and phenomenological limits.

Abstract:Associated production of Intermediate Higgs or Z-boson with t ¯ t pair in γγ collision ABSTRACT Photon-photon linear colliders can be realized by laser back-scattering technique on the next generation linear e + e − colliders. Here the associated productions of an intermediate mass Higgs (IMH) or Z-boson with t ¯ t pair in γγ collisions are studied. Since IMH is very unlikely to decay into t ¯ t pair, t ¯ tH production is the only direct channel to probe the Higgs-top Yukawa coupling in case of an IMH. t ¯ tZ production can be a potential background to t ¯ tH if the Higgs mass is close to m Z. As an alternative to its parent e + e − collider, γγ → t ¯ tH(Z) productions are compared with the corresponding productions in the e + e − collisions.

Abstract:We study the sensitivity of testing the anomalous gauge couplings g(HVV)'s of the Higgs boson in the formulation of linearly realized gauge symmetry via the processes gamma gamma -> ZZ and gamma gamma -> WWWW at polarized and unpolarized photon colliders based on e(+)e(-) linear colliders of c.m. energies 500 GeV, 1 TeV, and 3 TeV. Signals beyond the standard model (SM) and SM backgrounds are carefully studied. We propose certain kinematic cuts to suppress the standard model backgrounds. For an integrated luminosity of 1 ab(-1), we show that (a) gamma gamma -> ZZ can provide a test of g(H gamma gamma) to the 3 sigma sensitivity of O(10(-3)-10(-2)) TeV-1 at a 500 GeV ILC, and O(10(-3)) TeV-1 at a 1 TeV ILC and a 3 TeV CLIC, and (b) gamma gamma -> WWWW at a 3 TeV CLIC can test all the anomalous couplings g(HVV)'s to the 3 sigma sensitivity of O(10(-3)-10(-2)) TeV-1.

Abstract:The main attractions of studying the bosonic sector of the electroweak standard model and its extensions at a future high energy photon collider are reviewed. A presentation of the laser scheme for obtaining such a collider is given where we emphasize the importance of polarised \gag spectra. The need for {\em measuring} the differential luminosities is stressed. We show that, in a large variety of processes, the yield of weak vector bosons is much higher than at the \epm mode but unfortunately, the cross sections are dominated by the transverse modes. Investigation of the physics related to the symmetry breaking sector both in $W$ and $Z$ pair production is given and contrasted with what we expect to obtain in the \epm mode and at the LHC. We reassess the issue of whether an intermediate-mass Higgs can be observed as a resonance when we have a broad spectrum that allows the simultaneous study of a host of electroweak phenomena. This investigation includes the important background of the so-called ``resolved" photon. We analyse the important issues of the mass resolution, the $b$ tagging efficiencies, and the polarisation of the beams at two typical \epm energies: 300GeV and 500GeV. New efficient cuts are found to suppress the background. The importance of $WWH$ production at $\sim$1TeV is emphasized and contrasted with other Higgs production mechanisms at both \epm and $e\gamma$. Finally, we examine the interesting problem of the longitudinal $W$ ($W_L$) content of the photon. A new set of polarised structure functions for the $W_L$ inside the photon is proposed. We test the validity of the ensuing effective $W$ approximation in the \ggwwht process.

Abstract:We review some recent developments in Higgs physics at a $\gamma\gamma$ collider. We begin with single Higgs boson production in $\gamma\gamma$ collisions proceeding via the hadronic content of the photon. For SM Higgs masses of current theoretical interest, the resolved photon contributions are non-negligible in precision cross section measurements. We found that production of the heavier Higgs bosons, $H^0$ and $A^0$, of the MSSM can probe regions of the SUSY parameter space that will complement other measurements. We showed that associated $t H^\pm$ production in $\gamma\gamma$ collisions can be used to make an accurate determination of $\tan\beta$ for low and high $\tan\beta$ by precision measurements of the $\gamma\gamma \to H^\pm t +X $ cross section. We then reviewed recent progress on Higgs physics in direct photon processes in which the Higgs bosons are produced via virtual loops. Precision measurements of the magnitude and phase of the $H\gamma\gamma$ coupling at a photon collider can be used to determine Higgs parameters related to physics beyond the SM.

Abstract:The decay of the standard model Higgs boson into a single photon and a vector unparticle through a one-loop process is studied. For an intermediate-mass Higgs boson, this single photon plus unparticle mode can have a branching ratio comparable with the two-photon discovery mode. The emitted photon has a continuous energy spectrum encoding the nature of the recoil unparticle. It can be measured in precision studies of the Higgs boson after its discovery.

Abstract:We investigate the potential to detect Higgs boson decays to four bottom quarks through a pair of pseudoscalars, a final state that is predicted by many theories beyond the Standard Model. For the first time, the signal sensitivity is evaluated for the final state using the vector boson fusion (VBF) production with and without an associated photon, for the Higgs at $m_H=125\,\textrm{GeV}$, at hadron colliders. The signal significance is $4$ to $6\sigma$, depending on the pseudoscalar mass $m_a$, when setting the the Higgs decay branching ratio to unity, using an integrated luminosity of $150\,\textrm{fb}^{-1}$ at $\sqrt{s}=13\,\textrm{TeV}$. This corresponds to an upper limit of $0.3$, on the Higgs branching ratio to four bottom quarks, with a non-observation of the decay. We also consider several variations of selection requirements - input variables for the VBF tagging and the kinematic variables for the photon - that could help guide the design of new triggers for the Run-3 period of the LHC and for the HL-LHC.

Abstract:We demonstrate trapping of an ultracold gas of neutral atoms in a macroscopic ac electric trap. Three-dimensional confinement is obtained by switching between two saddle-point configurations of the electric field. Stable trapping is observed in a narrow range of switching frequencies around 60 Hz. The dynamic confinement of the atoms is directly visualized at different phases of the ac switching cycle. We observe about 10^5 Rb atoms in the 1 mm^3 large and several microkelvins deep trap with a lifetime of approximately 5 s.

Abstract:The advent of back-scattered laser beams for electron-positron colliders will allow detailed studies of a large array of high energy photon-photon and photon-electron collision processes with polarized beams. These include tests of electroweak theory in photon-photon annihilation such as $\gamma \gamma \to W^+ W^-$, $\gamma \gamma \to $ Higgs bosons, and higher-order loop processes, such as $\gamma \gamma \to \gamma \gamma, Z \gamma, H^0 Z^0$ and $Z Z.$ Methods for measuring the anomalous magnetic and quadrupole moments of the $W$ and $Z$ gauge bosons to high precision in polarized electron-photon and photon-photon collisions are discussed. Since each photon can be resolved into a $W^+ W^-$ pair, high energy photon-photon collisions can also provide a remarkably background-free laboratory for studying $W W$ collisions and annihilation. I also review high energy $\gamma \gamma$ and $e \gamma$ tests of quantum chromodynamics, including the production of two gluon jets in photon-photon collisions, deeply virtual Compton scattering on a photon target, and leading-twist single-spin asymmetries for a photon polarized normal to a production plane. Exclusive hadron production processes in photon-photon collisions provide important tests of QCD at the amplitude level, particularly as measures of hadron distribution amplitudes which are also important for the analysis of exclusive semi-leptonic and two-body hadronic B-decays.

Abstract:The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has confirmed the Higgs mechanism to be responsible for generating mass in the Standard Model (SM), making it attractive to also consider spontaneous symmetry breaking as the origin of mass for new particles in a dark sector extension of the SM. Such a dark Higgs mechanism may in particular give mass to a dark matter candidate and to the gauge boson mediating its interactions (called dark photon). In this review we summarise the phenomenology of the resulting dark Higgs boson and discuss the corresponding search strategies with a focus on collider experiments. We consider both the case that the dark Higgs boson is heavier than the SM Higgs boson, in which case leading constraints come from direct searches for new Higgs bosons as well missing-energy searches at the LHC, and the case that the dark Higgs boson is (potentially much) lighter than the SM Higgs boson, such that the leading sensitivity comes from electron-positron colliders and fixed-target experiments. Of particular experimental interest for both cases is the associated production of a dark Higgs boson with a dark photon, which subsequently decays into SM fermions, dark matter particles or long-lived dark sector states. We also discuss the important role of exotic decays of the SM-like Higgs boson and complementary constraints arising from early-universe cosmology, astrophysics and direct searches for dark matter in laboratory experiments.

Abstract:The prospects for discovering Higgs particles and studying their fundamental properties at future high--energy electron--positron and photon-photon colliders are reviewed. Both the Standard Model Higgs boson and the Higgs particles of its minimal supersymmetric extension are discussed. We also comment on a two Higgs doublet model searches at LEP 1. We update various results by taking into account the value of the top quark mass obtained by the CDF Collaboration and by including radiative corrections.

Abstract:Multi-TeV muon colliders promise an unprecedented potential for exploring the particle-physics energy frontier, and, at the same time, can probe with fantastic accuracy the precise structure of the Standard Model, and in particular of the Higgs boson sector. Here we consider the possibility to measure the loop-suppressed single-, double-, triple-Higgs boson production mediated by the collinear-photon scattering in the channels . We study total rates and kinematical distributions in the Standard Model, and compare them with the corresponding vector-boson-fusion processes at muon collisions center-of-mass energies 1.5 TeV TeV. Possible strategies for enhancing the signal over the dominant vector-boson-fusion production are proposed. The sensitivity of total rates to possible anomalies in the Higgs-boson self-couplings is also discussed.

Abstract:We study the O(\ensuremath{\alpha}${\mathit{m}}_{\mathit{t}}^{2}$/${\mathit{m}}_{\mathit{W}}^{2}$) Yukawa corrections to the process ${\mathit{e}}^{+}$${\mathit{e}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\gamma}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\mathit{H}}^{+}$${\mathit{H}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ at the Next Linear Collider. The analyses of the production rate are made in the framework of the two-Higgs-doublet model for possible parameter values of the Higgs sector. We find that the corrections imply a few to 22% reduction in the production cross section in ${\mathit{e}}^{+}$${\mathit{e}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ colliders. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.
Probing Heavy Charged Higgs Boson Using Multivariate Technique at Gamma-Gamma Collider

Abstract:The current study explores the production of charged Higgs particles through photon-photon collisions within the Two Higgs Doublet Model context, including one-loop-level scattering amplitude of Electroweak and QED radiation. The cross-section has been scanned for plane ($m_{\phi^{0}}, \sqrt{s}$) investigating the process of $\gamma\gamma \rightarrow H^{+}H^{-}$. Three particular numerical scenarios low-$m_{H}$, non-alignment, and short-cascade are employed. Hence using $h^{0}$ for low-$m_{H^{0}}$ and $H^{0}$ for non-alignment and short-cascade scenario, the new experimental and theoretical constraints are applied.The decay channels for charged Higgs particles are examined in all the scenarios along with the analysis for cross-sections revealing that at low energy it is consistently higher for all scenarios. However as $\sqrt{s}$ increases, it reaches a peak value at 1$~$TeV for all benchmark scenarios. The branching ratio of the decay channels indicates that for non-alignment, the mode of decay $W^{\pm} h^{0}$ takes control %{} when $BR(H^{\pm} \rightarrow W^{\pm} H^{0})$ decreases at larger values of $m_{H^{0}}$.} and for short cascade the prominent decay mode remains $t\bar{b}$, while in the low-$m_{H}$ the dominant decay channel is of $W^{\pm} h^{0}$.

Higgs photon associated production in a Two Higgs Doublet Type-II Seesaw Model at future electron-positron colliders

Abstract:We study the one-loop prediction for the single production of a SM-like Higgs boson in association with a photon in electron-positron collisions in the context of the two Higgs doublet type-II seesaw model ($2HDMcT$). We explore to what extent the new scalars in the $2HDMcT$ spectrum affect its production cross-section, the ratio $R_{\gamma h_1}$ as well as the signal strengths $R_{\gamma Z}$ and $R_{\gamma \gamma}$ when $h_1$ is identified with the observed $SM$ Higgs boson within the $2HDMcT$ delimited parameter space. More specifically, we focus on $e^+e^- \to h_1\gamma$ process at one-loop, and analyzed how it evolves under a full set of theoretical constraints and the available experimental data, including $B\to X_s\gamma$ limit at 95$\%$ C.L. Our analysis shows that these observables are strongly dependent on the parameters of the model, especially the mixing angel $\alpha_1$, the potential parameters $\lambda_{7}$, $\lambda_{9}$, the trilinear Higgs couplings, with a noticeable sensitivity to $\alpha_1$. We found that $\sigma (e^+e^- \to h_1\gamma)$ can significantly be enhanced up to $8.1\,\,\times 10^{-2}$ fb, thus exceeding the Standard Model prediction. Additionally, as a byproduct, we also observed that $R_{\gamma h_1}$ is entirely correlated with both the $h_1\to\gamma\gamma$ and $h_1\to\gamma Z$ signal strengths.
