Abstract:γ-Carbolines were obtained in a simple one-pot Fischer arting from N-acetyl-3-bromo-4-piperidone hydrobro-reaction starting from N-acetyl-3-bromo-4-piperidone hydrobromide and substituted arylhydrazine hydrochlorides in acidic media under microwave irradiation or by a thermal process. The optimization procedures are reported in detail, and the results from micro-wave processes are compared with conventional ones.

Abstract:An efficient and general synthesis of 2-alkyl-3,4-dihydro-3-oxo-2H-1,4-benzoxazines under controlled microwave heating has been established. It consists of a microwave-assisted reductive N-arylmethylation of substituted 2-aminophenols with aromatic aldehydes followed by a one-pot base-mediated regioselective O-alkylation of the N-arylmethyl-2-aminophenols with 2-bromoalkanoates to give the acyclic intermediates, which cyclize spontaneously to furnish the benzoxazine scaffolds in good to excellent yields. It was found that microwave heating over 180°C was necessary for ring closure of the acyclic intermediates possessing an electron-withdrawing group.

Abstract:A nucleopalladation-triggered cascade transformation of internal alkynes bearing an amino nucleophile and an electrophilic enone was investigated under unconventional microwave-assisted conditions. Among the three possible pathways, the chloropalladation-triggered domino process proceeded selectively to furnish 3-chloro-1H-indenes in good to excellent yields. The reactions under microwave irradiation were completed in 30 min, and the conventional heating required 3-5 h for completion. The yields obtained under nonclassical heating using microwave irradiation are marginally higher (71-97%) than those of the conventional heating conditions (67-96%). The mechanism of this domino process involves chloropalladation of alkynes to deliver σ-vinylpalladium intermediates, intramolecular carbopalladation via Heck-type olefin insertion, and protodepalladation steps. The other two competitive intramolecular aminopalladation-initiated cascades via 7-endo-dig or 6-exo-dig cyclizations leading to oxazepine or benzoxazine scaffolds were not observed.

Abstract:A series of 2-amino-4-aryl-5-oxo-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-4H-chromene-3-carbonitrile derivatives (4a similar to 4g) were prepared by using 1,3-cyclohexanedione, aromatic aldehydes and malononitrile in anhydrous alcohol under microwave irradiation without catalyst. Compared with conventional heating method, the method of microwave irradiation possesses advantages including short time, high yield and environmental friendliness, etc. The structures of these compounds were characterized by IR, (1)H NMR spectra and elemental analysis.

Abstract:A versatile one-pot synthesis of substituted isoindolinones from 2-furaldchydes, amines, 2-(phenylselanyt)acrylic acids, and isocyanides is described. The tandem process involves the Ugi four-component condensation, intramolecular Diels-Alder cycloaddition, and subsequent deselenization-arornatization promoted by BF3-OEt2. Abstract:A novel, highly efficient, eco-friendly, and quick microwave-assisted synthesis of 2, 4, 5- substituted imidazoles by one-pot cyclo condensation of acenaphthoquinone, aromatic aldehydes, and ammonium acetate was reported under solvent-free conditions using ammonium chloride as a catalyst with excellent yield. The present methodology offers several advantages, such as mild reaction conditions, easy workup, short reaction time, excellent yield, purification of products by the non-chromatographic method, and reproducibility in large-scale synthesis. Compounds were characterized by IR, 1HNMR, 13C NMR spectroscopy and their melting points were compared with the literature reports.

Abstract:A Rh (III)‐catalyzed redox‐neutral C‐H activation/ [3+3] cyclization of 2‐benzyl‐2H‐indazole‐6‐carboxylic acids with iodonium ylides under microwave irradiation for the synthesis of indazole‐fused chromenes has been reported. The critical feature of this method is that the C‐H activation of the C7‐H bond of 2‐benzyl‐2H‐indazole‐6‐carboxylic acid proceeds with regioselectivity in the presence of the proximate C5‐H bond without the need for external oxidant. Microwave irradiation reduced the reaction time as compared to conventional heating. The detailed mechanistic study disclosed the mechanistic pathway of the reaction.

Abstract:A facile approach has been developed for the synthesis of dihydrocoumarin derivatives through the reaction of phenols and cinnamoyl chloride in the presence of ecofriendly solid-acid catalyst montmorillonite K-10 via a tandem esterification-Friedel-Crafts alkylation process under microwave irradiation. Abstract:A facile and efficient synthesis of bicyclic 1,3-oxazin-4-ones, 2,3,6,7-tetrahydrocyclopenta[e]-1,3-oxazin-4-ones and 2,3,5,6,7,8-hexahydro-4H-benzo[e]-1,3-oxazin-4-ones has been achieved via Ir-catalyzed one-pot reaction of secondary amides with adipoyl chloride and pimeloyl chloride, respectively. This method features good yields, broad scope of substrates, mild reaction conditions, and scalability. This reaction also is well compatible with acetyl chloride and phenylacetyl chloride to access monocyclic 1,3-oxazin-4-ones.
