Abstract:The low-temperature sintered NiCuZn and MgCuZn ferrites with the composition of Ni0.4Cu0.2Zn0.4Fe1.96O4 and Mg0.4Cu0.2Zn0.4Fe1.96O4 were respectively synthesized by the conventional mixed oxide method. With 1.5 wt.% Bi2O3 as a sintering aid, both kinds of ferrite samples obtained enough density when they were sintered around 900 degrees C. The MgCuZn ferrite had lower sintering density values due to the atomic weight of Mg atoms was much lower than that of Ni atoms. There were no notable differences on microstructures between these two kinds of ferrite samples. However, the MgCuZn ferrite had an obviously higher permeability than that of the NiCuZn ferrite, which could be attributed to that the influences of magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant and magnetostriction constant were more dominant than the influence of saturation magnetization on permeability. There was no notable differences between the two kinds of ferrite samples on permittivity, which was due to that both Ni2+ and Mg2+ did not obviously influence the Fe2+ and Fe3+ concentration in our ferrite samples.
