The Certainty and Uncertainty of China-India Relations

Abstract:China and India are two rising Asian powers. China-India relationship is one of the most important bilateral ties in Asia. On the one hand,both share dimensions of certainty in terms of independent diplomacy,priority of development,dual rise,healthy competition,friendly neighboring policy,Asian powers,regional cooperation,and global coordination,which are the basis and opportunity of stable and positive China-India relations; On the other hand,there are dimensions of uncertainty including trust deficit,boundary issue,balance of power,the U.S. and Pakistan factors,sea lane,India's nuclear status and its bid for UN Security Council,which are the problems and challenges for the unstable and possible negative development of China-India ties.
