Abstract:This paper is to introduce its author's contention that use of multidisciplinary forensics to encompass scientific investigative methods and hazard assessment will provide the answer to what level health and environmental risk management regulation is needed. Actually, a lot of projects has so far been under way in hoping to found a necessary scientific and technical basis for assessing the risks likely to be caused by nanotechnology and the adoption of nanomaterials and nanoproducts. In this connection, we suggest that it is necessary to build up safety standards or regulations. It is also imperative for the manufacturing industries (including all the stakeholders) and governmental departments to establish proper cooperative relation and assign their respective responsibilities in controlling the environmental pollution and protection of human health from the adverse effects due to the application and spreading of nano products on the market and people' s lives. The reason of such worries comes just from the nanotechnologies themselves, which are characterized by a high degree of innovation dynamics along with the application of engineered nanomaterials already used in hundreds of consumer nanoproducts. It is also of particular significance that for the time being, the general public is still unaware of the likely danger or risks, or health, safety and environmental concerns, likely to be caused as a result of wide application of nanomaterials. In fact, nanoparticles, as tiny particles, can actually move around the human body and our environment more easily than larger pollutant particles. In addition, due to their extremely small size and large surface areas, nanoparticles may be more reactive and more toxic than larger particles of the same substance. It is for the reasons stated above and some more others, efforts have recently been displayed by manufacturers, researchers, regulatory bodies, professional organizations, NGOs, and other interested parties. Thus, more and more new challenges are to be faced with the understanding, predicting, and overcoming of the potential health risks so as to popularize necessary control technologies and measures to prevent workers and consumers from the exposure to nanoparticles.
