Abstract:To reduce and control the nitrogen emission, our current project was conducted to examine the effect of different dietary categories on feces /urine features and nitrogen emission in lactating cows.China Holsteins of 12 at average weights of 514kg and age of 3 to 5 years old are selected for testing their feces /urine features and nitrogen emission. The cows are divided into 3 groups,Diet A with dry corn straw as forage with forage to concentrate ratio of 40∶60,Diet B and Diet C(both take corn silage as forage) with forage to concentrate ratio of 40∶60 and 60∶40,respectively.The results showed that diet categories had certain effects on dairy output of feces and urine. The order of feces output from high to low were Diet A,Diet B and Diet C.The order of urine output from high to low were Diet C,Diet B and Diet A.Urine output of Diet C exceeds that of Diet B and Diet A by 22.75% and 56.30% respectively.Meanwhile, dietary categories had significant effects on nitrogen balance in dairy cows. The milk nitrogen and urinary nitrogen contents as well as nitrogen digestibility at straw-typed diets were far lower than those of silage-typed diets(P<0.01).Under conditions of corn silage as forage, nitrogen digestibility and urinary nitrogen both increased remarkably(P<0.01),while,fecal nitrogen and milk nitrogen increased not significantly(P>0.05) as diet concentrate increased. Moreover, the nitrogen of straw-typed diets was mainly discharged through feces. When corn silage was taken as forage, proportion of fecal nitrogen reduced, but urinary nitrogen increased. However, fecal and urinary nitrogen proportions in total feces /urine nitrogen were basically same as diet concentrates increased.
