Abstract:In this paper, a low-cost repeaterless transmission system is demonstrated at 10Gbit/s using two Sampled Chirped fiber Bragg gratings (SCBG) to realize the dispersion compensation of 210km transmission over G652 single-mode fiber (SSMF). The two SCBGs are used as dispersion management components to mitigate the damage caused by the pulse broadening effort before the receiver terminal. Non-return-to-zero (NRZ) modulation format is adopted and EDFAs as boost amplifier and pre-amplifiers in this system. Low-gain Raman amplifier is used to improve the signal noise ratio (SNR) at the end of the transmission fiber.

Abstract:Experimental results on repeaterless 4��622Mb/s��200km, 2.5Gb/s��200km and 4.354Gb/s (1��2.488Gb/s+3��622Mb/s) ��160km conventional singlemode fiber transmission systems are reported. Results on another 4.354Gb/s��200km transmission with one repeater is also presented. Optical output from EDFA power booster is higher than 4dBm per channel (4��622Mb/s system) and 11dBm (2.5Gb/s system), respectively, while their frequency stability is better than 6��10-6 and 4.1��10-6. Receiver sensitivity at the input of EDFA preamplifier reaches -46.8dBm and -39.5dBm. Bit-error rate of various channels is better than 4��10-12-4��10-15.

Abstract:Pseudo-linear transmission over 2000 km at 40-Gb/s is demonstrated with 100-km amplifier spacing and without using FEC. A simple optimized dispersion map based on conventional terrestrial link design is used to increase the non-linearity threshold enabling higher signal powers to be launched. A Q-value of 15.9 dB is measured after transmission over 2000-km transmission line using 2-dBm launched signal power.

Abstract:Unrepeatered 42.7 Gb/s per channel RZ-DPSK transmission over standard SMF-28 fibre with novel URFL based amplification using fibre Bragg gratings is investigated. OSNR and gain performance are studied experimentally and through simulations. Abstract:Using directly modulated lasers (DMLs), avalanche photodiode (APD) receivers, and all-Raman amplification, error-free repeaterless WDM transmission of eight C-band channels at 2.5 Gbit/s over 300 km of standard singlemode fibre (SSMF) span (63.5 dB span loss) is reported. Uncorrected BERs better 10(-10) were achieved for all eight channels with power penalty similar to5.5 dB for the worst channel.

Abstract:We report transmission of 10-Gb/s nonreturn-to-zero (NRZ) signal over 200-km conventional single-mode fiber without any dispersion compensation by using a bias control technique that involves simultaneous change of alpha parameter of an LiNbO3 modulator and the extinction ratio. This is the longest transmission distance for 10-Gb/s NRZ binary signal without any dispersion compensation.

Abstract:An optic fiber loop test-bed based on 10.7 Gb/s WDM system with a high birefringence fiber Sagnac loop gain equalization filter was realized, and the BER of system is less than 3×105 (without FEC). Configured as computer simulation optimizing, a transmission experiment of 10.7Gb/s×16 channels over 1600 km single mode fiber (SMF), with single loop length 240 km, loss more than 80 dB, was successfully conducted. After 7 loops transmission, more than 5 dBm unflat of channel power is avoided by the novel GEF.
