Abstract:2-Ethoxy-1-naphthaldehyde was synthesized from 2-naphthol through etherification and Vilsmeier reaction in an over all yield of 90.2%.The 2nd step,Vilsmeier reaction was improved with result of lower total nitrogen,lower total phosphorus,lower amount and being much more environment friendly.

Abstract:Aromatic aldehydes are very important organic intermediates,which are widely used in pharmaceuticals,pesticides and other areas.In this paper,an improved synthetic method of aromatic aldehydes containing electrowithdrawing groups in ortho or para(or both) position of the aromatic ring was introduced.4-choloro-2-nitrotoluene,4-nitrotoluene and 4-cyanotoluene were used as raw materials,respectively,via enamination with N,N-dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal(DMFDMA) in the present of N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF) as solvent and under reflux,the corresponding styrylamine compounds were produced;then the intermediates were further oxidized by H2O2 under different reaction conditions.The effects of solvent species,reaction temperature and the used amount of H2O2 on the product yield were studied,and the optimal reaction conditions were determined.Under those optimal conditions,the best yields of different aldehydes are 75.6%(4-chloro-2-nitrobenzaldehyde),58.3%(4-nitrobenzaldehyde) and 68.2%(4-cyanobenzaldehyde),respectively with the advantages of simple process,low cost and being environment-friendly..The main intermediates and objective products were confirmed by HPLC and 1H-NMR.

Abstract:A facile environmentally friendly synthesis of bezaldehyde and phenylacetaldehyde analogs from readily available toluene derivatives is described. Oxidation of the styrylamines by H(2)O(2) affords benzaldehydes in moderate yields, while the hydrolysis of styrylamines afforded phenylacetaldehyde analogs in good yields.

Abstract:The process of preparing 4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenylacetonitrile,as one of the important intermediates for synthesis was studied.Beginning from the raw material—vanillin,the title compound was prepared,via protection of hydroxyl,reduction,chloridization and nitrilation.The influences of various reaction conditions on the yield were investigated,and the optimal reaction conditions(reagent,temperature,time and yield) were as follows:acetic anhydride as acetylation reagent,reacting at room temperature for 3 h and yield was 99%;Raney Ni as catalyst,reaction time was 8 h at room temperature,and yield was 96.8%;dropping thionyldichloride at 0℃,then reacting at room temperature for 2 h,and the yield was 78%;refluxing with sodium cyanide for 9 h,and the yield was 78.5%.The products were characterized with MS,1H NMR and elemental analysis.The results showed that the process proposed overcame the defects of traditional synthesis route.

Abstract:3,4-Dimethoxybenzaldehyde was synthesized from catechol through etherification and Vilsmeier reaction,and the yield was 87.8%.The second step,Vilsmeier reaction,was improved with lower N and P waste and much more environment friendly.The yield increased from 86.5% to 91.2%,and the amount of Vilsmeier decreased from 2.5 times to 1.5 times.

Abstract:A new green synthesis of phenyl vinyl sulfoxide was described. The use of ethylene oxide, strong acid resin, and solid supported phosphotungstic acid made the process green and feasible to industrialize. The optimal condition was selected in the experiments. The total yield was 80.5% and it was eco-friendly. The catalysts were easy to recycle. According to the experiments, the oxidation mechanism was assumed to follow the complex–oxidation–decomplex fashion.

Abstract:A procedure for synthesis of 2-methoxyphenothiazine (1) has been developed, starting from resorcinol and aniline by condensation, following methylation and cyclization. p-Toluenesulfonic acid and polysubstituted aromatics were employed as the catalyst of condensation and the solvent of cyclization, respectively, to improve the yield. The use of parallel experiments, statistical experimental design, and multivariate modeling made the total yield of the procedure as high as 74.2%. J. Heterocyclic Chem., (2012).

Abstract:Herein a two-step process for the synthesis of 2-norbornanone with 91 % overall yield has been developed. The addition of sublimation inhibitors suppressed the sublimation of norbornene in the process of sulfuric acid-promoted hydration and increased the yield of 2-norbornanol significantly under mild conditions. Additionally, reuse of sulfuric acid has been achieved. A 4-hydroxy-TEMPO/CuCl/TBN triple-component catalyst system for the highly selective aerobic oxidation of 2-norbornanol was developed and displayed high atom efficiency and yield.

Abstract:A convenient synthesis of 2,6-dihydroxynaphthalene from 6-bromo-2-naphthol has been achieved with high overall yield (52%) and good purity (95.7%) based on the conversion of 6-(methoxymethoxy)-2-naphthaldehyde to 6-(methoxymethoxy)-2-naphthol formate by a Baeyer–Villiger oxidation-rearrangement. Compared with the reported methods, the reaction conditions are milder and the work-up of each step is much simpler. Moreover, 6-bromo-2-naphthol as the starting material for the synthesis is readily available.

Abstract:An efficient method for the preparation of 1-hydroxy-5, 8-dimethoxy-2-naphthaldehyde (1) was developed with a high overall yield (73.8%). Compared with the previously reported method, the reaction conditions are milder and the work-up of each step is much simpler. Abstract:Now there are many problems existed in the synthesis of methoxy elgenol in industry,such as high requested equipment,corrodes strongly,pollution of the environment,difficult separation of product and so on.The experiment has realized the green synthesis of methoxy elgenol by improving the traditional process of epoxidation and catalytic hydrogenation reaction.The structure of the intermediate and methoxy elgenol was characterized by 1HNMR and 13CNMR.

Abstract:2,3-Dihydronaphazarin was prepared from 1,4-dimethoxybenzene and dichloromaleic anhydride. Reaction with bromochloromethane gave 1,8:4,5-bis(methylenedioxy)naphthalene which with NBS, gave 2-bromo-1,8:4,5-bis-(methylenedioxy)naphthalene. Reaction of the Grignard derivative with DMF afforded 2-formyl-1,8:4,5-bis(methylenedioxy)naphthalene. This method had several advantages compared with the reported synthesis, including fewer steps, milder condition and higher yields.

Abstract:Based on the oxidation of 1,5-naphthalenediol (4) and 6-bromo-2-naphthol (9) via Teuber reaction, an efficient synthesis of 5,6-dimethoxy-1-naphthol (1) and 5,6-dimethoxy-2-naphthol (2) was achieved with high overall yield (16% for 1 and 25% for 2). The key steps of the synthetic strategy involved the oxidation of naphthols (4 and 9) to the corresponding naphthoquinones (5 and 10) and the conversion of 5,6-dimethoxy-2-naphthaldehyde to 5,6-dimethoxy-2-naphthol formate through Baeyer-Villiger oxidation-rearrangement.
