Abstract:For CEPC such big size machine survey and alignment, several key issues need to be considered: the measurement and data processing method, error accumulation control, the global and relative accuracy, the measurement efficiency, component alignment method and the deformation problem. To these issues an overall survey and alignment scheme was made. The global datums will be established for the measurement and data reduction. A multi-level control network will be built for the global and relative position control, the establish method and measurement method are introduced and the accuracies are estimated. To the component alignment, the schemes of fiducialization, pre-alignment and tunnel alignment are introduced, the deformation problem was analysed and monitor equipment will be applied. To improve the measurement efficiency a new kind of instrument was designed, the prototype has been fabricated and some experiments has been carried out.

Abstract:A precise transshipment system is developed for automatic transporting material between an automated guided vehicle (AGV) and a load transfer station. In order to implement the alignment of the fixture base on board the AGV with that of the station, it's necessary to measure the pose of the AGV with respect to the station. The pose measurement system combined four distance sensors with two CCD cameras, with the distance sensors to measure the yaw, pitch angle and longitudinal deviation, and the cameras to determine the roll angle and the position deviation in the reference plane. A 6-degree of freedom (DOF) pose alignment system based on 3-DOF positioners is used to correct the pose deviation of the current pose with respect to the goal pose, lowering the demand on locating precision of AGV on the ground. The method to calibrate the whole measurement system is elaborately stated. The transshipment experiments have been conducted and the results show that the pose alignment system integrated with the proposed multi-sensor pose measurement system can meet the accuracy and repeatability required in industrial application.

Abstract:<p>Collimation and alignment of large survey cameras is an essential link for large survey telescope performance. A simple, stable, and fast collimation strategy is urgently needed after the correction lens assemblies are translated part-by-part at the observation site. This study proposes a method for the collimation of the correction lens assembly of a large survey telescope at the observation site. First, we investigated the method theoretically. The method was then demonstrated based on simulations in terms of reliability, while the wavefront of large transmission systems was characterized effectively. Finally, we optimized the alignment station to optimize the performance of the correction lens assembly. This study can enhance large survey telescopic developments and the design of similar large-transmission systems.</p>

Abstract:With the development of accelerator technology, the scale of accelerators is becoming larger, ranging from hundreds of meters to several kilometers. For stable operation of accelerators, high-precision alignment, positioning, and installation are crucial. Installing all equipment inside the tunnel poses safety risks as personnel would be in a closed environment with potential radiation exposure for prolonged periods. To address the challenges of long adjustment and maintenance periods inside the tunnel due to the installation of equipment for large-scale accelerators, most accelerator devices under construction or in research have pre-alignment assemblies. Each assembly consists of a certain number of magnets distributed on girders. The magnets in one unit are pre-aligned with high precision in the laboratory and then transported to the tunnel. Aligning the entire magnet girder can significantly improve installation efficiency inside the tunnel. To meet the pre-alignment accuracy requirement of 10 mu m in the horizontal and vertical directions for the magnet units in the high energy photon source (HEPS) storage ring, a system for high-precision pre-alignment of accelerator units using four total stations for angle observation has been designed in this paper. By employing different instrument layout configurations and incorporating reliable distance benchmarks, high-precision pre-alignment of the magnet are achieved. By arranging targets and utilizing recognition for automatic targeting, real-time point calculations during pre-alignment enhance efficiency. Subsequently, based on this system, pre-alignment simulation calculations and experimental verification of eight magnet focusing-defocusing units in the HEPS storage ring are conducted and ultimately realizing the 10 mu m transverse and vertical pre-alignment measuring error within the units. This method, based on high-precision measurements in a small-scale space, reduces the period required for personnel on-site and improves pre-alignment efficiency. It also provides a reference for pre-alignment of multiple magnet units in large accelerators such as the Southern Advanced Photon Source and Circular Electron Positron Collider.

Abstract:As a fourth-generation synchrotron light source based on a diffraction-limited storage ring, Hefei Advanced Light Facility (HALF) puts forward higher requirements for the alignment accuracy of the main components. Aggregated common points result in a loss of accuracy during the coordinate transformation required by accelerator alignment. To address this challenge, we proposed two methods: "aggregated points centralization (APC)" and "uniformity-weighted algorithm (UWA)" according to different usage scenarios. APC combines uniformity with the K-means algorithm to enhance the accuracy of coordinate transformation while reducing the number of common points. UWA calculates the uniformity in different directions and assigns weights to common points, reducing the accuracy loss. Simulations demonstrate that these two methods have strong superiority and stability with significantly improved accuracy. Applications of these 2 methods in the magnet unit pre-alignment experiment and tunnel network measurement show promising results. APC in pre-alignment can reduce the cost of building common points by 26% while maintaining the coordinate conversion accuracy. In tunnel network measurement, accuracy can be increased by 28% using UWA. The methods proposed offer broad applicability in the field of particle accelerator alignment and guiding alignment solutions for HALF.

Abstract:This paper mainly described the alignment for the facility of heavy ion therapy at Institute of Modern Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences.We set up the control network by laser tracker and transform multi-coordinate frame.The accuracy of adjusting magnets has reached ±(0.05-0.1)mm,and accuracy of the horizontal and vertical vacuum pipes has reached ±(0.1-0.2)mm.

Abstract:SG-III, a high-power laser facility of China, is constructed to produce 0.18MJ energy for physical experiments under controlled laboratory conditions. Each laser beam requires the ability to align to a millimeter-sized target with a precision of 30 mu m (RMS) and the single-beam energy will be up to 3.75 KJ. Arrayed along each beam-path, hundreds of optics must be positioned to stringent tolerances. Abstract:A system designed for measuring large-size parallelism and perpendicularity of large-size workpieces by laser alignment was developed. This paper mainly focuses on three questions. First, the building of long distance alignment optical beam based on laser diode, single mode optical fiber and phase plate diffraction technique. Second, the building of datum planes that parallel or perpendicular to each other by using pentagonal prism. Third, a new image processing algorithm called orthogonal projection method. The algorithm converts two-dimension image into two one-dimension images, which can speed up the data processing and restrain noise. The performance of this system was tested and verified in National CIMS Engineering Technology Research Center in China. The experimental results show that the relative measurement accuracy of the alignment system attains micron (mu m) (0.3 x 10(-6)L) in 10 meters measurement range.

Abstract:Current requirements resulting from high quality standards and mass production call for an efficient and reliable manufacturing technology. With the aim of meeting the needs of accurate and efficient inspection of massive industrial parts, we propose a novel large-field measurement technique to measure weakly textured, complex reflective surface on large-size parts. We introduce a small-field-of-view, high-spatial-resolution binocular fringe projection local measurement system, which realizes high-precision point cloud data acquisition of industrial parts' surface based on the principle of heterodyne multi-frequency phase shift and high dynamic measurement. A new point cloud registration method based on phase matching and global marker points is proposed. A global measurement system with large field of view and low spatial resolution system is applied to track the local measurement system and realize the local area point cloud registration of large industrial components. The global marker points on the surface of the turntable jointly calibrated by the laser tracker and the vision system is presented to realize the registration of all areas of the component. A global optimization with trimmed ICP is applied for adaptive fine registration of multi-view point clouds with different overlap rates to eliminate accumulated errors. The proposed system can achieve a global measurement range of 4mx4mx2.5m, and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method for high-precision measurement of industrial complex parts with large field of view, which effectively avoids the transmission error and benefits the inspection and manufacturing of industrial parts.
A Universal Precision Positioning Equipment in Coordinate Unified for Large Scale Metrology

Abstract:In this article we describe the design of universal precision positioning equipment and the method to be used in the multi stations coordinate unified of large scale measurements. The system incorporates the concept of distance constrains to control the random error of common points. Measuring each point of the artifacts with the coordinate measuring machine which have higher accurate and obtaining the spatial geometry relationships of them. Used the coordinate data of measurements on site in artifacts to obtain the spatial geometry relationships and compared them with the calibrated relationships. Simultaneously can find the large error of the common points and controlled the error in a set range to achieve the traceability of measurement on site. Then use the common points which satisfied the setting range to transform the coordinate to reference. We get a higher precision coordinate unified with the algorithm of 7 parameters Procrustes. The present method is used in coordinate unified for electronic theodolites and laser tracker. The results show that the accuracy using the artifact is much better than traditional method.

Abstract:Given the importance of accelerator devices, major developed and emerging countries around the world have invested substantial human and material resources into the development, construction, and operation of more advanced large-scale accelerator devices. High-precision and high-efficiency alignment of the control network is crucial for the stable operation of accelerators. This study proposes a method for measuring tunnel control networks using total station angle observation. By taking advantage of the high precision of angle observation with a total station, we use the measured results of the designed and deployed control points measured by the laser tracker to simulate the total station angle observations, combined with some length scale values in the control network measured by the laser range finder. With the angle observations and several known distances, the point coordinates can be calculated by angle intersection methods. Only angle observations are used from total stations, while different length scale reference conditions are added to constrain the control network. This is done by calculating the point accuracy of the China Spallation Neutron Source circular accelerator. The overall plane point accuracy can reach 66 μm. By using this method, personnel will spend less time on the site and are at lower risk of radiation exposure, for example by automating measurements at night. This method can be used at nighttime for measurements, avoiding the need for daytime work and shielding employees from severe radiation exposure. By employing this method, efficiency can be increased twice. For on-site measurement, it enables monitoring and automated measurement during operation, as well as providing reference for the installation and measurement of tunnel control networks for large scale accelerators such as the Circular Electron Positron Collider.

Abstract:To ensure the long-term stability of the beam and further construction needs, it is necessary to re-measure the particle accelerator regularly. Since 2013, we have been measuring the HLS-II control network with laser trackers and the level for 10 years. Taking HLS-II as the object of study, we introduced the data acquisition strategy for the period of 2013–2023. We analyzed the horizontal and vertical deformation trends of each control point. In the vertical direction, we fused the geometric level and elevation data of the laser tracker network by using MC-GMM (a Gauss-Markov model which considers the uncertainty of Monte Carlo simulation). The analysis results show that, after the HLS upgrade, the annual average settlement of the ground control network tends to be stable. The settlement and horizontal variation of the device are all within a reasonable and controllable range. To ensure stability, accuracy, and efficiency in the measurement, we recommend employing the laser tracker for the re-measurement of the HLS-II storage ring. The data processing flow and methods mentioned in the article can provide a reference for deformation analysis of the upcoming construction of the Hefei Advanced Light Facility (HALF) and other large-scale metrology projects.

Calibration Algorithm of Structure Parameters in Combined Large-Scale 3D Metrology System

Abstract:Aiming at improving the large-scale 3D surface profile measurement speed,a combined large-scale 3D measurement technology,which combined indoor global positioning system(GPS) and structure light system(SLS),is proposed.The indoor GPS will track the position and orientation of the SLSs through three optical sensors which are fixed on each SLS.Then pieces of local 3D data obtained by the SLSs can be converted into a coherent gen-eral coordinate system through the structure parameters which are calibrated previously.To guarantee the accuracy of registration,a simple and effective structure parameter calibration method is proposed.Two cameras are used to simulate indoor GPS and track the centers of circle marks which are passed on SLS instead of the sensors.And the structure parameters are successfully calibrated by reference object which is in global coordinate system.At last an experiment is presented to illustrate the feasibility of auto-registration.

Abstract:The Heavy Ion Medical Machine (HIMM) is China's first heavy ion accelerator specifically for cancer treatment. To minimize the uncontrollable beam orbit and beam loss, the HIMM accelerator magnets require the condition of stringent field uniformity. The best way to examine whether the actual field is consistent with the design or not is to perform an accurate and reliable measurement on the magnetic field, which requires the accurate alignment of the magnetic field measurement system as the prerequisite. This research adopts the alignment of a Hall probe mapping system, long coil integral system and harmonic coils system. Firstly, the preliminary test launched at the HIMM is described. Then, a new alignment method is developed to improve the positioning accuracy and performance of magnetic field measurement system. The experimental results show that the alignment accuracy (maximum deviations) of all components of each magnetic field measurement system is higher than 0.1 mm, which satisfies the requirements for the positioning accuracy of high-precision magnetic field measurement system.

Abstract:A computer-aided alignment method is put forward in this paper. It combines laser shearing interferometry and computer-aided optimization, accurately measures the alignment of the optical elements of the system being aligned and gives the adjustment project to control the wavefront quality. The theoretical analysis and experiments demonstrate the ability and effectiveness of this computer-aided alignment method and it especially suits for the on-site alignment of large and complex optical system.

Abstract:In order to solve the problem of low precision in calibration and measurement of large size optical measuring instruments, mask, and other two-dimensional grid standards, a large size(1m × 1m) plane coordinate measuring method based on multi-axis laser interferometer is studied. Use a cube-corner prism as a reflector. Using a fixed bridge measuring machine structure, the co-planar motion is disassembled into independent X-axis movable table motion and Y-directional slider motion on the beam. Geometrical error modeling analysis is carried out on the measuring machine, and optical path spectral layout of multi-axis laser interferometry is studied. In order to monitor the deflection of the X-direction moving platform in real time, use two-channel laser interference to measure the length in the X-direction and a single-channel measurement of the Y-direction slider movement. Finally, a laser interferometry model with large plane coordinates is proposed and a motion simulation analysis is carried out for the deviation of X-axis mobile platform around Z axis, to verify the validity and necessity of real-time monitoring compensation error of double optical path for plane coordinates measurement.
