Clinical Manifestation in Diabetic or Non-diabetic Patients with Coronary Artery Disease

Abstract:Objective To study the clinical findings in diabetic or non-diabetic patients with coronary artery disease(CAD).Methods A total of 183 patients with CAD selected from our angiographic data base,including 66 cases with type 2 diabetes mellitus(DM group) and 117 cases without diabetes mellitus(non-DM group),were analyzed retrospectively.Results The incidence of hypo-HDL cholesterolemia and the levels of fasting blood glucose(FBS) in the DM group were significantly higher than those in the non-DM group(all P<0.01),but there were no obvious differences in the incidence of three-vessel CAD between the two groups(36.36% vs 29.91%,P>0.05).Compared with DM patients with single-vessel CAD,the duration of DM significantly increased in DM patients with three-vessel CAD(P<0.05).Compared with non-DM patients with single-vessel CAD,the incidence of hypertension,hyperuricemia and hypercholesterolemia obviously increased in non-DM patients with three-vessel CAD(all P<0.05).Conclusion Comprehensive risk factor interventions should be provided to CAD patients.For diabetic patients with CAD,management should focus on the regulation of HDL cholesterol and blood glucose levels.
