Experimental Study on Self-pressure Pipe Desilting of Reservoir with Large Bottom Area

Abstract:The cross sections of reservoir with large bottom area are mostly the U-type or ladder-type with a broad surface.The horizontal sedimentation is serious.A self-pressure pipe desilting system was designed with a pipeline network laid on the bottom of the reservoir for sediment discharge.The water and sediment mass ratio and the economic flow of the system were determined by experiments,and the relationship of water head and flow is given.The most economic flow is 5-6 m/s.The system has the advantage of flushing more sedimentation with less water and energy consumption.
