Abstract:We classify all the pairs of a commutative associative algebra with an identity element and its finite-dimensional commutative locally-finite derivation subalgebra such that the commutative associative algebra is derivation-simple with respect to the derivation subalgebra over an algebraically closed field with characteristic 0. Such pairs are the fundamental ingredients for constructing generalized simple Lie algebras of Cartan type. Moreover, we determine the isomorphic classes of the generalized simple Lie algebras of Witt Type. The structure space of these algebras is given explicitly.

Abstract:We initiate a study on a range of new generalized derivations of finite-dimensional Lie algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. This new generalization of derivations has an analogue in the theory of associative prime rings and unites many well-known generalized derivations that have already appeared extensively in the study of Lie algebras and other nonassociative algebras. After exploiting fundamental properties, we introduce and analyze their interiors, especially focusing on the rationality of the corresponding Hilbert series. Applying techniques in computational ideal theory we develop an approach to explicitly compute these new generalized derivations for the three-dimensional special linear Lie algebra over the complex field.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a Banach algebra and $B(X)$ be the set of all bounded linear operators on $X$. Suppose that $\alpha: B(X) \rightarrow B(X)$ is an automorphism. We say that a mapping $\delta$ from $B(X)$ into itself is derivable at $G \in B(X)$ if $\delta(G) = \alpha(A)\delta(B) + \delta(A)\alpha(B)$ for all $A, B \in B(X)$ with $AB = G$. We say that an element $G \in B(X)$ is an $(\alpha,\alpha)$-all derivable point of $B(X)$ if every $(\alpha,\alpha)$-derivable mapping $\delta$ at G is an $(\alpha,\alpha)$-derivation. In this paper, we show that every $(\alpha,\alpha)$-derivable mapping at a nonzero element in $B(X)$ is an $(\alpha,\alpha)$-derivation.

On the derivations and automorphisms of the algebra $k\langle x, y\rangle/(yx-xy-x^N)$

Abstract:We consider the algebra $A_N=k\langle x, y\rangle/(yx-xy-x^N)$, with $k$ a field of characteristic zero and $N$ a positive integer. Our main result is a complete description of the first Hochschild cohomology $\operatorname{HH}^1(A_N)$ of $A_N$ that consists both of explicit derivations of $A_N$ whose cohomology classes span it and a description of its Lie algebra structure. As we do this, we compute the automorphism group of the algebra, as well as certain characteristic subgroups thereof related to locally nilpotent derivations, classify the finite groups that act on $A_N$ and, finally, show that there are no inner-faithful actions of generalized Taft Hopf algebras on $A_N$. We establish this last result thanks to another calculation of Hochschild cohomology, now with twisted coefficients.

Abstract:For an associative algebra A, define its lower central series L0(A)=A, Li(A)=[A,Li−1(A)], and the corresponding quotients Bi(A)=Li(A)/Li+1(A). In this paper, we study the structure of Bi(An) for a free algebra An. We construct a basis for B2(An) and determine the structure of B3(A2) and B4(A2). In Appendix A, we study the structure of B2(A) for any associative algebra A over C.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to study cohomological theory of n-Lie algebras with derivations. We define the representation of an n-LieDer pair and consider its cohomology. Likewise, we verify that a cohomology of an n-LieDer pair could be derived from the cohomology of associated LeibDer pair. Furthermore, we discuss the (n−1)-order deformations and the Nijenhuis operator of n-LieDer pairs. The central extensions of n-LieDer pairs are also investigated in terms of the first cohomology groups with coefficients in the trivial representation.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a locally finite preordered set, $\mathcal R$ a commutative ring with identity and $I(X,\mathcal R)$ the incidence algebra of $X$ over $\mathcal R$. In this note we prove that each Lie derivation of $I(X,\mathcal R)$ is proper, provided that $\mathcal R$ is $2$-torsion free.

Abstract:The additive (generalized) $\xi$-Lie derivations on prime algebras are characterized. It is shown, under some suitable assumption, that an additive map $L$ is an additive (generalized) Lie derivation if and only if it is the sum of an additive (generalized) derivation and an additive map from the algebra into its center vanishing all commutators; is an additive (generalized) $\xi$-Lie derivation with $\xi\not=1$ if and only if it is an additive (generalized) derivation satisfying $L(\xi A)=\xi L(A)$ for all $A$. These results are then used to characterize additive (generalized) $\xi$-Lie derivations on several operator algebras such as Banach space standard operator algebras and von Neumman algebras.

Abstract:An associative algebra with a generalized derivation is called an AsGDer triple. We introduce the operad that encodes AsGDer triples, and prove it is a Koszul operad. Using its Koszul dual cooperad, we introduce the homotopy version of AsGDer triples. As an application, we construct the AsGDer cohomology theory for AsGDer triples, and show that the formal deformation of an AsGDer triple is controlled by the AsGDer cohomology.
