Abstract:During its evolution Chinese moral education has developed pronounced ideological aspects. This stems from traditions of first equating politics with morality, phrasing them both in the same language, and then of encouraging correct moral and political relations and behaviours through education. This trend dates back three thousand years to Zhou Gong and continued through Confucius and his followers. From 1949, through the Cultural Revolution and the present transition to a market economy, a similarly unified approach to political, ideological and moral education has been effected through the organizational medium of deyu. As well as providing a historical overview, this paper examines the ideological function and political structure of deyu and the changes that are occurring within it. In the light of current changes in China, deyu is now starting to shift its focus away from ideological education and towards citizenship education. This reflects important changes in core values, to include individualism, economic initiative and consumerism, all of which confront Chinese society and education with distinct challenges and opportunities, and suggest even further reform of deyu during the 21st century.

Abstract:This study explores "Strengthen Moral Education for Cultivating People" ("Li De Shu Ren") in China from the perspectives of concepts and policies. "Strengthen Moral Education" ("Li De") is identified as the "developing great virtue" ("Ming Da De"), "obeying social morality" ("Shou Gong De"), and "keeping personal morals" ("Yan Si De"). "Cultivate People" ("Shu Ren") includes the moral education, intellectual education, sports education, aesthetic education, and labor education. Policy implementation and advancement is divided into three stages: Policy launch period (2006-2012), policy improvement period (2013-2017), the period of full implementation of policies (2017 to present). Policy suggestions on "Strengthen Moral Education and Cultivate People" ("Li De Shu Ren") are offered, including building a multi-agent coordinated all-staff education system, building an organically integrated whole-process education system, building an all-round education system guided by values, and building the evaluation system of cultivating people by virtue.

Abstract:The Chinese ancients put forward the idea that righteous moral should be cultivated in childhood and regard it as the saint's achievement. The ethos is the soul support for a nationality's survival and development. The children, as the successors of traditional ethos and inaugurators of new ethos, are the national future and shoulder the great task to revive the Chinese Nation. Thus it is significant to attach importance to ethos in ABC's education. We should take measures from following three aspects: paying attention to apotheosis education with ethos, introducing the means that children love and starting with children's emotion.
