Abstract:Purpose: The aim of the study was to investigate role of religious rituals in shaping moral values and social norms Methodology: This study adopted a desk methodology. A desk study research design is commonly known as secondary data collection. This is basically collecting data from existing resources preferably because of its low cost advantage as compared to a field research. Our current study looked into already published studies and reports as the data was easily accessed through online journals and libraries. Findings: Religious rituals play a significant role in shaping moral values and social norms. They often provide a framework for ethical behavior by promoting virtues such as compassion, forgiveness, and charity. These rituals reinforce a sense of community and belonging, strengthening social cohesion and shared values among adherents. Additionally, they can act as a moral compass, guiding individuals' decisions and actions based on their faith's teachings Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Socialization theory, symbolic interactionism & cognitive development theory may be used to anchor future studies on role of religious rituals in shaping moral values and social norms. Develop and implement religious education programs that emphasize the ethical and moral teachings embedded within religious rituals. Develop policies that uphold the principles of religious freedom while ensuring that religious rituals do not perpetuate discrimination, inequality, or harm to vulnerable groups.
