Abstract:This paper discribes test results of an industrial demonstration plant using ash agglomeration fluid bed for gasification of pulverized coal.Use of the fluidization technology in the presence of oxygen steam mixture as a promotor in the engineering that deals well with establishment of fluid bed,dedusting and slag discharge at elevated temperatures,application of high temperature resistant valves and abrasion resistant refractories,and recovery of waste heat.Compared with fixed bed gasification process,the cost per tone of ammonia can be reduced by 172 Yuan,resulting in better economic and environmental benefits.
Key Technologies and Application of Producing Basic Chemical Materials from Low-Rank Coal

Abstract:The production of basic chemical materials including calcium carbide and acetylene is an important approach to realizing the value-added conversion of low-rank coal. However,current production technologies usually suffer from many problems including severe pollution,large energy consumption and high cost. This project is intended to reveal the basic science in the processes of mass transfer and chemical conversion under the extreme conditions in an electric field-coupling reaction system,and give deep understanding of the principles of process control,scaling-up and energy recovery. Then,many key technologies in the production are expected to be greatly improved,including the technology of industrializing the rotating arc plasma torch, the power supply with large current for hydrogen plasma and the arc starting at low voltage,the design of long-life electrode and the ablative compensation technology,the low-cost molding of powdery raw materials and the high-temperature transportation of materials. Based on these achievements,a highly efficient, energy-saving and low-cost process for the production of calcium carbide and acetylene from low-rank coal will be developed,and a 5000t/a demonstration plant of producing acetylene from coal by plasma pyrolysis and a 800000t/a industrial plant of the regenerative production of calcium carbide will be established.

Abstract:Summarize the composition,characteristics and research progress of coal tar.The most widely used coal tar chemical products such as naphthalene,phenolic compound,pyridinium could be prepared from the wash oil of coal tar.The products has high quality.The technological process is that,through vacuum distillation,first gather the fraction at different extraction temperature ranges,then dephenolize,distill,crystallize and extract.Study separation and purification methods of fluorene,benzpyrole and biphenyl.The preparation of fuel oil from coal tar by catalytic hydrogenation is the development direction of coal tar deep processing,which could reduce the pollution caused by coke oven gas combustion.

Abstract:Electrochemical desulfurization was an attractive new technique for coal desulfurization before coal combustion in coal and power industries.Organic and inorganic sulfur compounds in coal were converted to sulfate by using electrochemical oxidation method.In this paper, several typical processes and desulfurization mechanisms were introduced in details.The status of laboratory scale research and the application in coal treatment were summarized.The prospects of this technique were proposed as well.

Abstract:<p>t is essential to remove gangue minerals associated with coal as they are harmful, and easy to cause environmental problems if the utilization process is not sustainable. To achieve this, various separation technologies including dry separation methods have been developed. As two-thirds of recoverable coal in China is reserved in water-lack areas, the development and research into dry separation methods has attracted more and more interests and also becomes the focus of the presented work. Besides a focusing on beneficiation of −6+3 mm and −3+1 mm coal particles, this paper aimed to propose a novel separation technology, namely the active pulsing air separation system (APASS). The response surface methodology (RSM) was used to investigate the effects of operational parameters, including airflow rate, pulsing frequency and feed rate, on separation results of two narrowly sized coal samples. Experimental results indicated that separation densities of two coals were similar, and the coarse one showed a relatively higher separation precision. Due to the high yield of particles around separation density and collision among particles, separation results were not good enough as the deash degree was only about 10%. To improve the product quality, the primary and secondary separation flowsheet of the active pulsing air separation system is proposed.</p>

Abstract:Enhanced coal seam methane extraction by injecting gas is an emerging technology to both reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve coal seam methane recovery. In this paper, the experimental and field research progress on gas injection for driving and displacing coal seam methane are reviewed from the perspectives of the micro, meso, and macro scales. The microscopic scale perspective involves intuitively analyzing the interaction process and relationship between strong adsorption gases (CO2, LCO2, and SCCO2) and relatively weak adsorption gases (CH4, N2) injected into coal samples, the changes in the number of micropores, mesopores, and macropores in coal samples by using NMR and low-temperature nitrogen adsorption equipment, and visualizing the multiphase flow process in pore structures using microfluidic methods. For the mesoscopic scale, multiple equipment means (SEM, NMR, liquid nitrogen adsorption, etc.) were used to quantitatively analyze the effects of different fracture widths, different degrees of metamorphism, and composition on gas seepage and adsorption–desorption rate. For the macroscopic scale, the physical and mechanical properties of coal and rock were analyzed using different pseudotriaxial or true triaxial seepage experimental equipment during the changes of gas injection process parameters and the effects of axial pressure and confining pressure, especially in adsorption–desorption and seepage related experiments in single component and multicomponent gases. Moreover, from future perspectives, some key, emerging, and intelligent technologies and equipment of gas injection enhanced coal seam methane extraction will be put forward.

Abstract:The pseudo-fluid characteristics of the gas–solid separation fluidized bed provide a set of feasible methods for the dry separation of coal. The equipment used in the development of dry separation technology is receiving increasing attention around the world, because it generates no pollution during the separation process. However, the industrial application of related technologies using multi-component, complex fluidization equipment has met with considerable resistance. In recent years, a series of advances and achievements has been made in the study of the structural design, fluidization characteristics, and coal separation performance of the gas–solid separation fluidized bed. With respect to the historical development of gas–solid separation fluidized equipment and related progress in basic theoretical research, this paper summarizes the recent developments of the common gas–solid fluidized bed, vibratory fluidized bed, and magnetically stable fluidized bed. We comprehensively investigate the factors influencing the fluidized bed, and identify some problems that must be addressed to further advance the large-scale industrialization of the gas–solid separation fluidized bed.

Abstract:The process of acetylene production from coal by plasma is an alternative process of the traditional caleium carbide method.The principle of the process and the influences on coal pyrolysis were reviewed.By analyzing the characteristics of coal powder-making system and that of electrical charge,it was pointed out that coal fired power plants have the conditions to actualize the process,and the benefit of actualizing it was analyzed too.

Application of integrated drilling and stamping technology in gas extraction through layer drilling

Abstract:In coal mine gas extraction in China, the current hydraulic permeability enhancement measures generally have complex processes, low adaptability, long operation time, and high labor intensity. This makes it challenging to meet the requirements of coal mining enterprises for safe and efficient mining, and there is an urgent need to develop new technologies to enhance gas extraction and production. This paper proposed an integrated drilling and stamping technology to enhance gas extraction and production and integrates drilling, hydraulic jet fracturing, and hydraulic punching to enhance the permeability of coal seams. A field test was conducted using the specially-developed integrated drilling and stamping equipment to extract gas from the 16101 bottom pumping lane penetration hole in the Jiulishan Mine, Jiaozuo, Henan. The test results show that compared with the hydraulic punching technology previously used in the mine, the punching time of the soft coal seam was shortened by 66–75%, the coal output was increased by 1.7 times, and the punching hole aperture was increased by 1.3 times. Hydraulic injection fracturing was successfully performed to increase the permeability of the hard coal seams, and the fracturing formed a shot hole depth of 345–539 mm. After the integrated drilling and stamping of the drill holes, the coal output, gas extraction concentration, pure gas extraction volume, and coal seam permeability coefficient increased by 2.4, 2.2, 4, and 37.3 times, respectively. The gas flow decay coefficient of the drills holes was also further reduced, which significantly improved the extractionefficiency. Thus the integrated drilling and stamping technology can transform the process of gas extraction from regular extraction to quick, economic, pure, and clean extraction. Thus, this technology has large applicable value for underground gas management in coal mines.

Advances on Pyrolysis and Gasification Technologies of Coal by Plasma

Abstract:The definition,character and division of plasma were summarized.As a brand-new technique,plasma coal pyrolysis and gasification were introduced.The factors influencing products formation and distribution and their primary reaction mechanism were discussed.The main products are C_2H_2,H_2,CO and some small molecular hydrocarbon (such as CH_4,C_2H_4) in inert atmosphere.The yield of C_2H_2 is affected by the coal type,coal size,reactor configuration,feeding fashion,feeding rate and operational conditions.Hydrogen in the plasma system can improve the formation of C_2H_2 of gaseous products.For reactive atmosphere with O_2,H_2 and CO are the main gaseous products and the yield of coal conversion is 95%,and the volume fraction of synthetic gas and that of CO_2 in product gas are 85% and 5%,respectively.Additionally their future prospect was expected.Based on some researches and results from experiments,it was proved that the plasma introduced into the coal conversion is an effective and clean technique.Especially with the depletion of petroleum and the combined pressure to establish energy security,improve pollution control and reduce global warming,the technology for pyrolysis and gasification of coal by plasma has potential advantages in industrialization.
The Application Prospect of the Underground Coal Gasification in SOFC

Abstract:Some experiments of the underground coal gasification in China University of Mining and Technology were presented. The main components of coal gas were H_2 48%～65%,CO 9%～25% and CH_4 7%～16%, which were suitable to the combustible gas in solid oxide fuel cells(SOFC). The pithead power stations built on the base of both underground coal gasification and SOFC would be clean and high efficient and would have a prosperous perspective of application and development in China in the future.

Abstract:Abstract In order to improve the quality of the coal preparation process and realize the automatic control of the coal preparation process, this article takes an intelligent transformation project of a coal preparation plant as an example to analyze the application of automation technology in the coal preparation process. The article introduces the actual situation of a coal preparation plant and the specific application of automation technology, analyzes the research ideas of the coal preparation plant’s automation technology, the automatic transformation, installation and commissioning of the coal preparation process equipment, and analyzes its process test results. It is hoped that this analysis can be helpful to the good application and development of automation technology in coal preparation technology.

Abstract:Underground coal gasification is of great strategic significance to the effective and clean development of coal resources and scale up production of natural gas worldwide. Selection evaluation is the foundation of the exploration and development of underground coal gasification. In this paper, the differences between mid-deep (500–2200 m) and shallow layer (<500 m) underground coal gasification are analyzed, the key parameters affecting underground coal gasification are clearly identified, and the selection evaluation technology system is established. The results show that there are great differences between mid-deep and shallow layer underground coal gasification in terms of furnace construction site selection, engineering process, gasification efficiency and gasification products, the former is the main development direction in the future considering the resource potential, gasification efficiency, environmental protection and technological progress. The research of mid-deep underground coal gasification selecting should be carried out step by step with “favorable area-favorable zone-favorable zone ranking-favorable target” evaluation system. In the early stage of exploration, the product of thickness and volatiles can be used as a rapid evaluation index. Within the suitable range, the larger the index is, the more favorable it is, and when the index is greater than 3, it is defined as the favorable area. Further, ten key geological parameters of coal seam geological conditions, coal-rock and coal-quality characteristics and structural hydrologic conditions are selected and graded during zone evaluation according to different threshold ranges. At the same time, a favorable zone queuing method based on the two-factor evaluation method is established. Additionally, the final target site selection is established with more detailed evaluation parameters, such as process performance parameters, gasification characteristics parameters, technical recoverable indicators, economic recoverable indicators. The study provides the siting selection technology for the middle deep coal underground gasification, which is of great significant for the development of coal underground gasification industry.

Abstract:A new technology of washary tailings fluidized bed combustion is reported in the paper.The technology has been used in a lot of steam boilers whose steam capacities are from 35 t/h to 75 t/h.The application results show that the technology can realize stable combustion for washary tailings with various mineral deposits.Furthermore,the technology can be used to treat high concentration organnic waste water and sludge discharged from energy and environmental protection fields.

Abstract:A new process was proposed in this article, which included coal topping, semi-coke oxygen-rich direct combustion and high temperature gas cleaning, gas turbine power generation, steam turbine power generation, CO2 capture, value-adding treatment of topping gas products. High value chemical utilization of coal was achieved with appropriate pyrolysis of macromolecular hydrocarbons in coal and with hydrogenation of tar to get hydrocarbon liquid fuels. Thermal efficiency was further raised through comprehensive utilization of high level thermal energy with high temperature dust-removal, combination of gas turbine and thermal power generating units.

Abstract:According to the analysis of occurrences of pyrite, clay mineral and organic sulfur in the main mined coal seam in Wuda coalfield, it can be seen that it is not practical to decrease the content of sulfur and ash in a single coal seam at present technical and economic condition. The best way to increase the coal quality is to lay the mining area reasonably, choose the ratio of the different coal seam appropriately, and realize the harmony of the geology, mining, and coal washing.

Abstract:In this paper a fluidized bed coal gasification system was set up. Experiments on two Chifeng lignites were conducted to study the effects of bed temperature and fluidizing state on product gas yield and compositions. A comprehensive model based on singleprocess models was developed. It uses a comparative method to determine the model parameters which depend on coal type and experimental conditions, so that the model prediction reflect the experiment accurately. In this paper, a nonlinear programming method was utilized to determine these parameters, which mainly included the parameters of coal pyrolysis and gasification model. The trend of model prediction were in good agreement with the experimental data which shows that this parameter identification method is an effective approach for modeling of complex processes.
