Abstract:The shortages of membrane materials with high performance and effective control technique for membrane fouling are the key issues restricting the large-scale applications of membrane separation technology. For this reason, several signiifcant achievements of scientiifc research were obtained by “Bioengineering Media and Equipment Team” of Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. After about ten years of research, high-performance pervaporation membranes, membrane process intensification techniques and efficient membrane equipment were developed by the team. Parts of the achievements have realized industrial applications, such as in seasoning clariifcation and reifning, water puriifcation and wastewater treatment, and concentration of traditional Chinese medicine, creating remarkable economic and social beneifts. The achievements acquired from the team make contributions to enhance the R&D level of Chinese membrane industry and bridge the gap between the foreign advanced level and ours, as well as promote the large-scale application of membrane technology.
