Abstract:Digital hospital is an important goal of the hospital construction,which is significant for promoting medical development and improving healthcare quality.The intension of digital hospital is discussed in details and its definition is put forward based on the characteristics analysis of typical digital hospitals at abroad.Then the construction goals of digital hospital are brought forward from the aspects of hospital intelligentization and hospital normalization,which are about building structure,service for hospital demands,centralized management of data,clinical data repository and electronic medical records.The development trend of digital hospital is forecasted from six aspects,combined with the progresses of medical science and IT.

Abstract:This paper elaborates the development of spatial structure in our country.Because the forms and types are colorful and incessantly innovating,it is necessary to divide spatial structure by component elements.After the 21th century,the development of our nation’s spatial structure comes into a new period that the application range and fields for spatial structure extend continuously.Besides the large-span public buildings such as gymnasiums and airports,there are extensive and innovative applications including large-scale railway stations,stations awning without column,bridges and high-rise buildings for spatial structure.About the international cooperation,it is suggested to have an open mind and optimistic view towards the fact that that architecture scheme for our nation’s spatial structures are frequently led by foreign companies.China is already a country with a great deal of the top of the world spatial structures,thus it is our responsibility to strive to create even better and advanced spatial structures.Some issues which we should pay more attention are pointed out.

Abstract:Based on the investigation of outdoor landscape plants in general hospitals of Hangzhou,from six aspects such as the plant species,plant frequency applications,ratio of arbor and shrub,ratio of evergreen and deciduous,application of plant color,as well as the lawn areas,explored the landscape plant status of general hospitals in Hangzhou.Moreover,according to the survey data analysis,some suggestions about the future landscape plants design in general hospitals were also discussed.

Abstract:Architecture and health are closely dependent. Architecture more positively influences human health as appropriating to its needs. However, humanization of hospital spaces wasn’t always evident. Since the end of Second World War, in fact, the hospitals are good buildings if they meet only the technological and functional requirements. Dealing with humanization and its architectural quality means to focus the human needs and understand their interaction with the environment. In these terms, it is not easy to define the architectural quality, because it is based on principles, which in turn are not quantifiable. Although, there are several studies from different disciplines which allow choices in terms of “added value that can be achieved”. In this paper, we propose the results of a research about this issue. Focusing on the psychological need of man, treasuring contributions of these disciplines (particularly about environmental psychology, expressive arts, Ergonomics, Evidence-based Design, the art of gardening, the studies on the perception of shape and color) and analyzing the functional and formal features of contemporary hospital, we developed a system evaluating architectural design choices, and a methodology defining guidelines to direct the choices aimed at the humanization of hospital space.

Abstract:In the architectural design of the modern hospital of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), the reproduction of the traditional space features should be emphasized, and the equilibrium of the tradition and modern should be held. In this paper, with the design analysis of Xiangshan hospital of TCM, we expound the validity of the modular design with courtyard cells in the architectural space management of the modern hospital of TCM, and discuss the suitable method of the organic combination of the traditional form and the modern requires.

Abstract:Healthcare Architecture in Hong Kong is in an on-going process of metamorphosis in response to the social, economical and technological developments in the territory. In the process of transformation, universal problems like obsolescence, growth and expansion, and advances in science and technology as well as problems unique to Hong Kong like population growth, scarcity in land supply and high density development all call for special solutions. With the turn of the century, new forces of change have also begun to take shape, and in anticipation of the hyper-turbulent changes ahead, we need to shift our paradigm to allow revolutionary new perspectives and innovate, shape and create the future healing space which is sustainable, adaptable, flexible and humane.
Study on Quality Improvement of Inpatient Medical Service in General Hospitals

Abstract:The quality of healthcare service in inpatient departments of general hospitals is directly correlated with the satisfaction of the patients and it is an important influential factor of hospital performance. Based on interviews with sampled inpatients and their family members in a general hospital in Hangzhou, the service needs were collected and was graded as to their importance. Quality function deployment method was used to extract the quality improvement factors and the importance degree, based on which we found the most significant service improvement measures are the establishment of patient evaluation system, the reasonable arrangements of physical examinations, the inpatient environment improvement and rational distribution of the different departments.

Abstract:Purpose Spatial arrangement of hospital environments has been proven to have impacts on hospital users such as wayfinding, privacy and operational efficiency. Many studies examined the spatial quality of hospitals, but there is a lack of comparative research between Chinese and Australian hospitals. Hospitals in both countries have salient features that are worth to learn and can inform hospital stakeholders internationally on design decisions. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate and compare the spatial quality of hospitals from both countries using space syntax approach and field observation. Design/methodology/approach This study uses space syntax analysis and observation to provide qualitative and quantitative data. Illustrative case studies from both countries are selected for comparison. The main benchmarks involved in measuring the spatial qualities, such as step depth and visual connectivity, are analysed using Depthmap X before comparing with the results from observation. Findings For Chinese hospitals to be more human-centred, public space design and facility management need additional attention. Australian hospitals could learn from Hospital D on how to design highly centralised nursing stations that cope with a high patient flow. Global policy and decision-makers should consider the potential inconsistency between initial design intention and practical use. Originality/value Practical implications were made based on the results for bettering hospital environments. It is hoped that the methodology presented in this research is of significance to the enhancement of global healthcare environment research.

Abstract:Ninety-three public general hospitals in three provinces located on eastern,central,western areas in China were surveyed.The strategic development status of public hospitals during the past ten years in China was analyzed.The result showed that the surveyed public hospitals had gradually formed the consciousness of strategic planning;but there was significant difference among the different areas of hospitals.Lots of public hospitals carried out expansion strategies in order to adapt to the changing healthcare environment.Different levels and different areas of hospitals took different internal managerial measures and different levels of hospitals paid various emphases on core development factors.

Abstract:Green hospital construction is a new challenge for medical industry after global sustainable development strategy was put forward. The core connotation of green hospital includes green building, green healthcare, patient safety, and doctor-patient harmony. Many countries have established green building evaluation system to deal with energy crisis. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Green Guide for Health Care (GGHC) in the U.S., and Evaluation System for Green Hospital Building (CSUS/GBC 2-2011) in China have guiding significance for the development of green hospitals in China. The evaluation system of green hospitals home and abroad still focuses on green building, and establishment of suitable synthesis evaluation system of green hospitals in China needs further research.
