Abstract:Three species of the Family Trichodoridae were identified and described from China. Three populations of Trichodorus nanjingensis Liu & Cheng, 1990, were collected from the rhizosphere of bamboo (Bambusa glaucescens var. ri-viereorum) and Chinese mulberry (Morus cathayana) growing at Hangzhou, and from apple at Beijing, respectively, of which bamboo and Chinese mulberry are new hosts for this species. Two populations of T. pakistanensis Siddiqi, 1962, were recovered from the rhizosphere of Metasequoia g glyptostroboides and bamboo growing at Hangzhou, and these represent new hosts for the species. Seven populations of Paratrichodorus porosus (Allen, 1957) Siddiqi, 1974, were collected from Fuyang, Zhejiang, with five associated with Camellia japonica, and the other two from Ligustrum lucidum, and from oriental cherry (Prunus serrula) that are new hosts for the species. These three trichodorid species are new records for Zhejiang province, China. Virus bait-testing of the species did not reveal any association with Tobravirus.

Abstract:Impatiens longshanensis (The LSID for the name Impatiens longshanensis is: 77219154-1) sp. nov. and I. lihengiana (The LSID for the name I. lihengiana is: 77219153-1) sp. nov., from Hunan, China, are described and illustrated here. The molecular phylogenetic study suggests that I. longshanensis and I. lihengiana should be placed in the I. sect. Impatiens. A detailed description, diagnostic characters between the two new species and allied species, pollen and seed morphology, and color photographs are provided. In addition, based on wide sampling, we found that the longifilamenta group, an endemic group to China, whose members have basal lobes of lateral united petals with long filamentous hairs, shows significant morphological variability. In this paper, we discuss the taxonomic significance of morphological characteristics within this group. Based on a literature review and observation of living materials in the field, an updated identification key for this group is also proposed.

Abstract:Begonia is a mega-genus with about 2500 species by most estimates, with China having over 210 accepted species. After field surveys, literature review and examination of herbarium specimens, some new taxa, new records, synonyms and the hybrid-origin of some taxa have been confirmed. Here, we report that Begonia dioica Buch.-Ham. ex D.Don and B. flagellaris Hara, both from Xizang (Tibet) are new to China; Begonia lipingensis Hance, B. muliensis T.T.Yu and B. sizemoreae Kiew are synonyms of B. circumlobata Hance, B. taliensis Gagnepain and B. longiciliata C.Y.Wu, respectively; and Begonia × lancangensis S.H.Huang and B. × malipoensis S.H.Huang & Y.M.Shui are natural hybrids.

Abstract:Nectriaceae is a highly diverse family, and members have a worldwide distribution, particularly in warm temperate to tropical regions. During the survey of fungal diversity in different habitats in Yunnan province, China, two new species isolated from soil and air respectively, namely Atractiumyunnanense sp. nov. and Nalanthamalaxishuangbannaensis sp. nov., were proposed based on morphological comparisons and the multi-gene phylogenetic analyses of combined ITS, LSU, rpb2, and tub2 sequence data. Phylogenetically, both species clustered in a monophyletic clade within Nectriaceae with strong support. A.yunnanense is characterized by synnematous conidiophores, pale olivaceous-green, clavate to oblong-ellipsoidal, multi-septate conidia, and pale olivaceous-green chlamydospores. N.xishuangbannaensis has acremonium-like or penicillium-like conidiophores and either obovate or ellipsoidal, cylindrical or fusiform conidia. Full descriptions, illustrations, and a phylogenetic tree showing the phylogenetic position of the two new species were provided.

Abstract:During our studying of the fauna of Tibet, China, many specimens of the subfamily Tachininae ( Diptera , Tachinidae ) were collected and examined. Three species are described here as new to science, Leskia latisurstyla sp. nov. , Trichoformosomyia cuonaensis sp. nov. , and Tachina jilongensis sp. nov. , and two species, Nemoraea javana (Brauer & Bergenstamm, 1894) and N. echinata Mesnil, 1953, are newly recorded from Tibet. In addition to their descriptions, illustrations, and diagnoses, three identification keys are provided. The specimens in this study are kept in the Insect Collection of Shenyang Normal University, China ( SYNU ).

Abstract:Elsholtzia zhongyangii (Lamiaceae), a new species from Sichuan Province, China, is described and illustrated. The new species is morphologically similar to E. feddei f. feddei, but it can be easily distinguished from E. feddei f. feddei by smaller corolla (3.2–3.5 mm vs. 4.5–5.3 mm), bract indumentum (glabrous, except margin ciliate vs. villous, especially on veins abaxially, glabrous adaxially) and bract stalked (ca. 1.2 mm vs. sessile). Phylogenetic analyses, based on two nuclear ribosomal (ETS, ITS) and five plastid (rbcL, matK, trnL-F, ycf1, ycf1-rps15) regions, confirmed that the new species formed a monophyletic clade with robust support. The new species is currently known from western Sichuan.

Abstract:Sixteen species belonging to 5 genera,3 families of the lichen order Peltigerales,viz. Leptogium asiaticum and L. burnetii new to Northern China,Collema coccophorum new to Northwest China,Coccocarpia erythroxyli,Collema tenax var. corallinum,C. subconveniens,C. subflaccidum,Leptogium menziesii,L. saturninum,Peltigera canina,P. elisabethae,P. polydactylon,P. praetextata,P. rufescens,Solorina bispora and S. saccata new to Ningxia were collected in various habitats of Mt. Liupan. Peltigeralean lichens are generally rare in Mt. Liupan and show a preference for shady and humid habitats.

Abstract:According to the Species Catalogue of China, Tibet, China, has more than 1,000 species of bryophytes, showing its remarkably high biodiversity. Amongst them, the Polytrichaceae is one of the largest family, with six genera and 25 species, one subspecies and two varieties reported previously.Based on a field survey and specimen identification, the following species have been newly recorded in the bryoflora of Tibet, namely Oligotrichum obtusatum Broth., Pogonatum contortum (Menzies ex Brid.) Lesq. and Polytrichum sphaerothecium (Besch.) Müll. Hal.

Abstract:Four new species of the genus Nola Leach, 1815 (N. lufengensis sp. nov., N. lancangensis sp. nov., N. mojiangensis sp. nov. and N. hutiaoxiaensis sp. nov.) are described from Yunnan Province from China. Nola ochrolopha (Hampson, 1911) is reported from China for the first time and Nola meilingchani László, Ronkay & Ronkay, 2014 is firstly reported from mainland China. Detailed illustrations of adult and male and female genitalia are provided.

Abstract:Two new endemic Isoetes from Zhejiang, China, Isoetes changleensis (2n = 22) and Isoetes yuhangensis (2n = 22), are described and illustrated. The morphological characteristics of I. changleensis, such as the presence of tuberculate and irregularly rugulate megaspores having a broad equatorial band with densely rugulate ornamentation, make it easy to distinguish it from Isoetes longpingii. Isoetes yuhangensis has rugulate megaspores with fibrous perispores, which sets it apart from closely related species. To distinguish the new Isoetes species and explore their phylogenetic position, this study employed complete nuclear genomes and plastomes. Both proposed species obtained high support in the phylogenetic analysis as new species. On the basis of morphological traits, chromosome information, and molecular evidence from chloroplast and nuclear DNA, these two taxa are regarded as two new diploid species of Isoetes.

Abstract:Collections of bionectriaceous fungi from different areas of China were examined, in which 3 new species were encountered. Bionectria intermedia is characterized by smooth perithecia, 2-layered perithecial wall, cylindrical to clavate asci with an apical ring, ascospore striations composed of separate warts, and dimorphic conidiophores. Hydropisphaera yunnanensis has hairy ascomata which are cupulate when dry, clavate asci with a simple apex, and spinulose and very narrow ascospores fusiform and constricted at septum. Nectriopsis apiosporae possesses laterally pinched perithecia when dry, 1-layered perithecial wall, rough perithecial surface, clavate asci with a simple apex, spinulose ascospores with 3 septa, and on Apiospora sp. Four species, Bionectria epichloë, B. kowhaii, B. subquaternata and Hydropisphaera suffulta, are reported as new to China.

Abstract:The Chinese species of Lilioceris are revised, and three new species are described from Tibet, China: Lilioceris zhentangensis Xu & Liang, sp. nov. , Lilioceris medogensis Xu & Liang, sp. nov. and Lilioceris zayuensis Xu & Liang, sp. nov. Five species of Lilioceris are reported for China as new records: L. dromedarius (Baly, 1861), L. pulchella (Baly, 1859), L. semicostata (Jacoby, 1908), L. unicolor (Hope, 1831) and L. nepalensis Takizawa, 1989. Lilioceris seminigra (Jacoby, 1889) is proposed as a junior synonym of L. unicolor Hope, 1831. Redescriptions, habitus photographs, geographic distributions, host plants (if available) and habitats are provided for these species.

Abstract:Three new species of Isodon ( Lamiaceae ) from China are described and illustrated, based on both morphological evidence and our recent phylogenomic studies of the genus. Isodon attenuatus , a herbaceous new species known only from the Fanjing Mountain, is shown to be sister to I. villosus , but they can be easily distinguished by leaf and inflorescence indumentum, calyx teeth shape and corolla tube morphology. Isodon gongshanensis , a herbaceous new species collected from the Hengduan Mountains in southwest China, represents a distinct lineage within the genus. Isodon sukungii , a shrubby new species also endemic to the Hengduan Mountains, was previously misidentified as I. tenuifolius , but they are phylogenetically distantly related and differ in lamina size and margin, inflorescence type and corolla length and shape.

Abstract:During the investigations of discomycetes in Yunnan, China, five species of Tatraea were discovered on decayed, decorticated oak trees or unidentified wood. All species have typical disc-like, large fruiting bodies with grey, brown or greyish-green colors. The ITS sequence analysis showed that they belong to Tatraea ( Helotiaceae , Helotiales ) and the LSU and ITS combination revealed a different topology within the genus. Four species, T. clepsydriformis , T. griseoturcoisina , T. yunnanensis and T. yuxiensis were established as new species, and T. aseptata was collected and described on oak woods. The pairwise homoplasy index ( PHI ) test results indicated that there is no significant genetic recombination (Φ w = 1.0) between all related species pairs. All the species described here are supported by descriptions, illustrations and multi-gene analyses.

Abstract:Background: Gerhardtia and Ossicaulis are two genera within the family Lyophyllaceae, which show an apparently poor species diversity worldwide. During the field investigation on wild macrofungi, six interesting collections within Gerhardtia and Ossicaulis genera are discovered in the northeastern China. Methods: To identify whether these collections of Gerhardtia and Ossicaulis are novel species, we performed phylogenetic analyzes using the following DNA regions: the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and the large subunit nuclear ribosomal RNA (nrLSU) region. Moreover, a traditional morphological method also be conducted based on both the macro-morphological and micro-morphological features. Results: The results indicated that these collections tested formed two independent lineages in each genus with a high support. In addition, they can easily be separated from all other taxa of the two genera in morphology. Based on the combination of morphological and molecular data, Gerhardtia tomentosa and Ossicaulis borealis , are confirmed as two new species to science. Discussions: This study provided a theoretical basis is for the two lyophylloid genera and indicated that the biodiversity resources of northeastern China might be underestimated.
