Abstract:Objective The aim of this study was to determine the radiation from the c-arm X-ray machine in the comprehensive surgical cabinet and evaluate the radioprotection measures in order to adapt the measures to different conditions, especially the treatment of cardiovascular events or trauma in sudden natural disasters. Methods A radiation detector was used to detect the dose of radiation affecting the surgeons beside the c-arm X-ray machine in the surgical cabinet with or without lead-shade radioprotection. The radiation dose was determined in 9 perspective positions-anteroposterior,head,right shoulder, right anterior oblique, left shoulder, left anterior oblique, liver, spleen and foot. Results The radiation dose received by the surgeons with lead-shade protection was significantly lower than that received by those without protection in various positions(anteroposterior: [7.89±0.19 vs 229.80±1.30] uGy/h,P0.001;head: [16.86±0.11 vs 255.20±1.30] uGy/h,P0.001;right shoulder [32.38±1.38 vs 249.00±1.22] uGy/h,P0.001;right anterior oblique: [37.84±0.35 vs 134.60±1.52] uGy/h,P0.001;left shoulder [38.20±0.07 vs 282.40±1.14] uGy/h,P0.001;left anterior oblique [26.54±0.15 vs 276.00±1.22] uGy/h,P0.001;liver [36.50±0.19 vs 126.00±1.22] uGy/h,P0.001;spleen [34.36±0.21 vs 261.00±1.00] uGy/h,P0.001;foot [36.44±0.22 vs 149.00±1.00] uGy/h,P0.001).Conclusion The radioprotection measures in the surgical cabinet could prevent most of the radiation from the c-arm X-ray machine, but great importance should be attached to the unprotected area by improving radioprotection measures and observing operating regulations.
