Abstract:Hammack and Livesay introduced a new graph operation G((k)) for a graph G, which they called the kth inner power of G. A graph G is Hamiltonian if it contains a spanning cycle. In this paper, we show that C-n((k))(n >= 3, k >= 2) is Hamiltonian if and only if n is odd and k = 2, where C-n is the cycle with n vertices.

Abstract:For a graph G and an integer k≥2 , the k-power of G is the graph with vertex set V(G) in which two vertices are adjacent if and only if their distance is at most k in G . In this paper, we study spectral conditions for a graph to contain a copy of k -power of Hamilton cycle. This solves a problem proposed in [20] .

Abstract:The hamiltonian problem is an important topic in structural graph theory, which is closely related to Four Color Problem. Hence lots of graph scholars are dedicated to this topic. There are many authors working for finding some sufficient conditions for hamiltonian property of graphs. Let G be a claw-free graph with n vertices and δ(G)≥3. In this paper, we show that if G has an induced cycle of length more than (4n – 2δ(G)–4)(δ(G)+2)−1, then G is hamiltonian. The result is best possible if δG is 3 or 4.

Abstract:An $n$-vertex graph is Hamiltonian if it contains a cycle that covers all of its vertices, and it is pancyclic if it contains cycles of all lengths from $3$ up to $n$. In 1972, Erdős conjectured that every Hamiltonian graph with independence number at most $k$ and at least $n = \Omega(k^2)$ vertices is pancyclic. In this paper we prove this old conjecture in a strong form by showing that if such a graph has $n = (2+o(1))k^2$ vertices, it is already pancyclic, and this bound is asymptotically best possible.

Connectivity Preserving Hamiltonian Cycles in $k$-Connected Dirac Graphs

Abstract:We show that for $k \geq 2$, there exists a function $f(k) = O(k)$ such that every $k$-connected graph $G$ of order $n \geq f(k)$ with minimum degree at least $\frac{n}{2}$ contains a Hamiltonian cycle $H$ such that $G-E(H)$ is $k$-connected. Applying Nash-Williams' result on edge-disjoint Hamiltonian cycles, we also show that for $k \geq 2$ and $\ell \geq 2$, there exists a function $g(k,\ell) = O(k\ell)$ such that every $k$-connected graph $G$ of order $n \geq g(k,\ell)$ with minimum degree at least $\frac{n}{2}$ contains $\ell$ edge-disjoint Hamiltonian cycles $H_1,H_2,\ldots,H_\ell$ such that $G-\cup_{1 \leq i \leq \ell}E(H_i)$ is $k$-connected. As a corollary, we have a statement that refines the result of Nash-Williams for $k$-connected graphs with $k \leq 8$. Moreover, when the connectivity of $G$ is exactly $k$, a similar result with an improved lower bound on $n$ can be shown, which does not depend on the result of Nash-Williams.

Abstract:Bondy and Chvatal have observed the following result: G = (V, E) is a simple graph of order n. If uv is-not-an-element-of E and d(u) + d(v) greater-than-or-equal-to n, then G is Hamiltonian iff G + uv is Hamiltonian. Thus, we can obtain a graph C(n)(G), named the n-closure of G, from G by successively joining pairs of non-adjacent vertices whose degree sum is at least n. Therefore, G is Hamiltonian if C(n)(G) is Hamiltonian. Moreover, Bondy and Chavatal [2] generalized this idea to several properties on G. In the paper, we present some more powerful closure operations that extend the idea of Bondy and Chvatal.

Abstract:Let $G_{k,n}$ be the $n$-balanced $k$-partite graph, whose vertex set can be partitioned into $k$ parts, each has $n$ vertices. In this paper, we prove that if $k \geq 2,n \geq 1$, for the edge set $E(G)$ of $G_{k,n}$ $$|E(G)| \geq\left\{\begin{array}{cc} 1 & \text { if } k=2, n=1 n^{2} C_{k}^{2}-(k-1) n+2 & \text { other } \end{array}\right.$$ then $G_{k,n}$ is hamiltonian. And the result may be the best.

Abstract:As we all know, the $k$-ary $n$-cube is a highly efficient interconnect network topology structure. It is also a concept of great significance, with a broad range of applications spanning both mathematics and computer science. In this paper, we study the existence of Hamiltonian cycles passing through prescribed matchings in $k$-ary $n$-cubes, and obtain the following result. For $n\geq5$ and $k\geq4$, every matching with at most $4n-20$ edges is contained in a Hamiltonian cycle in the $k$-ary $n$-cube.

Abstract:Finding general conditions which ensure that a graph is Hamiltonian is a central topic in graph theory. An old and well known conjecture in the area states that any $d$-regular $n$-vertex graph $G$ whose second largest eigenvalue in absolute value $\lambda(G)$ is at most $\frac{d}{C}$, for some universal constant $C>0$, has a Hamilton cycle. In this paper, we obtain two main results which make substantial progress towards this problem. Firstly, we settle this conjecture in full when the degree $d$ is at least a small power of $n$. Secondly, in the general case we show that $\lambda(G) \leq \frac{d}{C(\log n)^{1/3}}$ implies the existence of a Hamilton cycle, improving the 20-year old bound of $\frac{d}{ \log^{1-o(1)} n}$ of Krivelevich and Sudakov. We use in a novel way a variety of methods, such as a robust Pósa rotation-extension technique, the Friedman-Pippenger tree embedding with rollbacks and the absorbing method, combined with additional tools and ideas. Our results have several interesting applications, giving best bounds on the number of generators which guarantee the Hamiltonicity of random Cayley graphs, which is an important partial case of the well known Hamiltonicity conjecture of Lovász. They can also be used to improve a result of Alon and Bourgain on additive patterns in multiplicative subgroups.

Hamiltonicity of Schrijver graphs and stable Kneser graphs

Abstract:For integers $k\geq 1$ and $n\geq 2k+1$, the Schrijver graph $S(n,k)$ has as vertices all $k$-element subsets of $[n]:=\{1,2,\ldots,n\}$ that contain no two cyclically adjacent elements, and an edge between any two disjoint sets. More generally, for integers $k\geq 1$, $s\geq 2$, and $n \geq sk+1$, the $s$-stable Kneser graph $S(n,k,s)$ has as vertices all $k$-element subsets of $[n]$ in which any two elements are in cyclical distance at least $s$. We prove that all the graphs $S(n,k,s)$, in particular Schrijver graphs $S(n,k)=S(n,k,2)$, admit a Hamilton cycle that can be computed in time $\mathcal{O}(n)$ per generated vertex.

Abstract:For integers <math>k≥3</math> and <math>1≤ℓ≤k−1</math>, we prove that for any <math>α>0</math>, there exist <math>ϵ>0</math> and <math>C>0</math> such that for sufficiently large <math>n∈(k−ℓ)N</math>, the union of a k-uniform hypergraph with minimum vertex degree <math>αnk−1</math> and a binomial random k-uniform hypergraph <math>G(k)(n,p)</math> with <math>p≥n−(k−ℓ)−ϵ</math> for <math>ℓ≥2</math> and <math>p≥Cn−(k−1)</math> for <math>ℓ=1</math> on the same vertex set contains a Hamiltonian ℓ-cycle with high probability. Our result is best possible up to the values of ϵ and C and answers a question of Krivelevich, Kwan and Sudakov.

Abstract:In this paper, we show that every 3-connected claw-free graph such that every induced cycle of length at least 4 has at most 8 edges contained in a triangle is hamiltonian. This implies that every 3-connected $\{K_{1,3}\}\cup \{C_i|i\ge 9\}$-free graph is hamiltonian. We also show that every 3-connected o-heavy graph whose induced cycle of length is at most 8 is hamiltonian and that every 2-connected claw-free graph of longest induced cycle with length at least $n-2$ is hamiltonian. These results are all best possible. As a byproduct, we show that it is NP-complete to determine the length of a longest induced cycle of a line graph.

Abstract:In this paper we use theoretical and computational tools to continue our investigation of $K_2$-hamiltonian graphs, that is, graphs in which the removal of any pair of adjacent vertices yields a hamiltonian graph, and their interplay with $K_1$-hamiltonian graphs, that is, graphs in which every vertex-deleted subgraph is hamiltonian. Perhaps surprisingly, there exist graphs that are both $K_1$- and $K_2$-hamiltonian, yet non-hamiltonian, for example, the Petersen graph. Grünbaum conjectured that every planar $K_1$-hamiltonian graph must itself be hamiltonian; Thomassen disproved this conjecture. Here we show that even planar graphs that are both $K_1$- and $K_2$-hamiltonian need not be hamiltonian, and that the number of such graphs grows at least exponentially. Motivated by results of Aldred, McKay, and Wormald, we determine for every integer $n$ that is not 14 or 17 whether there exists a $K_2$-hypohamiltonian, that is, non-hamiltonian and $K_2$-hamiltonian, graph of order $n$, and characterise all orders for which such cubic graphs and such snarks exist. We also describe the smallest cubic planar graph which is $K_2$-hypohamiltonian, as well as the smallest planar $K_2$-hypohamiltonian graph of girth $5$. We conclude with open problems and by correcting two inaccuracies from the first article.

Abstract:We prove that if Cay(G;S) is a connected Cayley graph with n vertices, and the prime factorization of n is very small, then Cay(G;S) has a hamiltonian cycle. Abstract:In 1982, Durnberger proved that every connected Cayley graph of a finite group with a commutator subgroup of prime order contains a hamiltonian cycle. In this paper, we extend this result to the infinite case. Additionally, we generalize this result to a broader class of infinite graphs $X$, where the automorphism group of $X$ contains a transitive subgroup $G$ with a cyclic commutator subgroup of prime order.

Abstract:We prove that for every $\varepsilon > 0$ there exists $n_0=n_0(\varepsilon)$ such that every regular oriented graph on $n > n_0$ vertices and degree at least $(1/4 + \varepsilon)n$ has a Hamilton cycle. This establishes an approximate version of a conjecture of Jackson from 1981. We also establish a result related to a conjecture of Kühn and Osthus about the Hamiltonicity of regular directed graphs with suitable degree and connectivity conditions.

Abstract:We study the function Hn(C2k) , the maximum number of Hamilton paths such that the union of any pair of them contains C2k as a subgraph. We give upper bounds on this quantity for k≥3 , improving results of Harcos and Soltész, and we show that if a conjecture of Ustimenko is true then one additionally obtains improved upper bounds for all k≥6 . We also give bounds on Hn(K2,3) and Hn(K2,4) . In order to prove our results, we extend a theorem of Krivelevich which counts Hamilton cycles in (n,d,λ) -graphs to bipartite or irregular graphs, and then apply these results to generalized polygons and the constructions of Lubotzky-Phillips-Sarnak and Füredi.

Abstract:A Hamilton cycle is a cycle containing every vertex of a graph. A graph is called Hamiltonian if it contains a Hamilton cycle. The Hamilton cycle problem is to find the sufficient and necessary condition that a graph is Hamiltonian. In this paper, we give out some new kind of definitions of the subgraphs and determine the Hamiltoncity of edges according to the existence of the subgraphs in a graph, and then obtain a new property of Hamilton graphs as being a necessary and sufficient condition characterized in the connectivity of the subgraph that induced from the cycle structure of a given graph.

A graph G is called a k-Hamiltonian graph if G - U contains a Hamiltonian cycle for every subset U subset of V (G) with vertical bar U vertical bar = k. An [a, b]-factor F of G is called a Hamiltonian [a, b] factor if F contains a Hamiltonian cycle. If G - U has a Hamiltonian [a, b]-factor for every subset U subset of V(G) with vertical bar U vertical bar = k, then we say that G admits a k-Hamiltonian [a, b] -factor.
