Validity of Rorschach Aggression Variables in School-age Children

Abstract:Objective:To assess the validity of Rorschach aggression variables in school-age children.Methods:With the Child Behavior Checklist and Conners Parent Symptom Questionnaire,two groups of students,including high aggression group and low aggression group,were selected from 311 primary school students,and the two groups were tested with the Rorschach test.Results:Pearson correlation coefficients of seven Rorschach test variables were all above 0.96,P<0.01.Kappa coefficients of these variables were all above 0.83.AG(aggression movement)variable and AgC(aggression content)variable were more contributing than others for measuring children aggression behaviors.AgC variable was positively correlated with exterior aggression behaviors(r=0.32,P<0.05),and AG variable was negatively correlated with exterior aggression behaviors(r=-0.27,P<0.05).Conclusion:The Rorschach aggression variables,especially aggression movement variable and aggression content variable,are valuable to measuring children aggression behaviors.
