Research Progress in Optical Properties of Meridians and Acupoints

Abstract:Despite the great value in the treatment of diseases and keeping healthy in every period,the essence of meridian is doubted when it encounters the western science.The observation of meridian using modern method and instrument is the key to the modernization of Chinese Traditional Medicine.The full development of optical method with vast vistas has been hot spots along with the method of sound,heat,electricity and magnetism,etc,all of which can be objective proof of the existence of meridians.We summarizd recent research on meridian using different optical principles, focusing on the recent progress in different characteristics of the meridians—ultraweak bioluminescence,infrared imagedisplaying, the infrared radiant spectrum and the light transport properties,it is for the purpose of having a comprehensive understanding in this field.
